MJF VS. KENNY OMEGA AND MORE: AEW COLLISION REPORT

It is Saturday and AEW Collision Is live at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.  Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone, Kevin Kelly, and Nigel McGuinness. 

No opening promos again this week. Looks like that is gone.

Jay White w/Bullet Club Gold vs AR Fox

They lock up collar and elbow and go to the corner. White doesn’t break and instead pulls Fox to the corner and locks on a side headlock for a takedown. Fox works to his feed and shoots him off into the ropes and White gets a shoulder tackle. White moves to chops in the corner, and Fox reverses it for his own chops. White reverses and beats Fox down. White whips Fox across to the far turnbuckle where he goes up, grabs White with his feet and hits a cutter/.

White is tossed to the outside and Fox hits a shooting star press from the apron White is rolled into the rig, and White reverses Fox’s attack and suplexes him into the turnbuckle. White pulls Fox from the corner and they trade chops. White gets a hip toss and covers for one. White drops Fox with a back elbow and follows with another elbow in the corner and a DDT for two. Fox is rolled to the floor and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Fox is fighting out of the corner and White strops him with a chop. Fox is able to stop White and then dives onto Bullet Club on one side of the ring and the Fox on the other. Fox hits a twisting vertical suplex and then a 450 from the top for two. Fox puts White on top and they fight on the top. White kicks him away and Fox hits a spanish fly for two. Fox is able to get a pair of half and half suplexes, followed by Blade Runner for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jay White

MJF grabs his belt back, but is stopped by Bullet Club. MJF takes off through the crowd. 

In the back, The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn talk about the 69 day anniversary. Max says MJF will be there, and Bowens lets him know he has been catfished and it’s not really MJF.

The Boys (Brandon and Brent) w/Dalton Castle vs The Already In The Ring Gunns (Austin and Colton Gunn) 

Brent starts off against Austin, but it doesn’t take long for the Gunns to hit 3:10 to Yuma on Brandon for the pin and the win. 

Winners: The Gunns

Another Danhausen video from Halloween 3.

Lexi is in the back with Ryna Nemeth, who has a big surprise. He has two movies coming out and he might be the voice of a grocery store, and he nerds top management, and he is at CJ Perry’s office. MIro invites him in and when the door closes, we hear Ryan getting beaten down.

Hikaru Shida (AEW Women’s Champion) vs Abadon

The ring has all sorts of Halloween decorations. Shida is in costume, but I don’t recognize the character.

They lock up with a greco roman knuckle lock and Abadon tries to bite. Shida grabs a side headlock and Abadon shoots her off and Shida hits a shoulder tackle. Abadon gets a head scissor takedown. Abadon grabs a bone and Shida with a fake tombstone and they swing at each other. Shida grabs a small weapon for ten blows in the corner on Abadon. Abadon is tossed to the floor and when Shida goes to the floor, Abadon comes out from under the ring. They fight on the floor and Abadon hits Shida with a trash can lid as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Shida comes off the ropes with a high knee strike. Shida grabs a broom and goes to the top. She leaps off the top and Abadon dodges. They hit clotheslines on each other. Abadon rolls to the floor and goes under the ring. She comes back with a bat and Nigel asks if Sting was under the ring. Shida is able to get behind Abadon and chokes Abadon with the bat. Shida starts hitting blows and Abadon no sells it. Black fluid comes out of Abadon’s mouth and Abasdon clotheslines her down for two.

Abadon gets a quick rollup for two. Shida is shoved into the turnbuckle face first, and Abadon dumps out candy on the mat. Abadon hits a blockbuster on the candy. Shida reverses the Black Dahlia for a two count. Shida nails Abadon with the Kendo stick and hits the running knee for two. Shida puts a pumpkin on Abadon’s head and nails the Katana for the pin and the win.

Toni Storm runs to the ring, kicking fof her shoes and then poses on the announcer’s table eating an apple.

We then get a video of Dax Harwood vs Ricky Starks. 

Samoa Joe (Ring of Honor TV Champion) vs The Already In The Ring Rhett Titus

Titus grabs an arm bar and lays in a punch before Joe drops him with a back elbow. Joe then lays in jabs in the corner. Joe hits a charge in the corner and then a Pele kick. Nigel says Titus is not a tomato can.

We’ll see. 

Joe does the walkaway when Titus tries a cross body from the top. Titus gets a big boot in the corner and runs into a ura nagi followed by the Coquina Clutch for the win.

Winner: ROH TV Champion: Samoa Joe

Renee is with QTV who introduce their new video called “The best thing on TV”. QT Marshall says he has been traveling the world to defend the AAA title. He says he will defend it against the best Luchadors AEW has to offer.

 

We get an update from Claudio Castagnoli that Bryan Danielson has a broken orbital bone. He is out for revenge against both Kazuchika Okada and Orange Cassidy.

Ricky Starks w/Big Bill vs Dax Harwood w/Cash Wheeler

We see the House of Black in the crowd.

They lock up and Starks forces Dax to the corner. They break clean and lock up again and move to mat wrestling and break clean again. Third lockup and Dax forces them to the corner and Starks grabs an arm bar. They run the ropes and Dax gets a series of hip tosses and side headlock takeovers. They are up and work to the corner where Starks gets blows on Dax. Dax reverses and lays in chops. 

Dax gets a suplex and a leg drop for a one count. Dax gets a scoop and a slam and goes to the top. Dax misses a flying head butt. Starks whips Dax to the corner and then walks the rope for the elbow drop front he top and then a leg on Dax in the ropes. Ricky then drops the leg on Dax on the apron and covers for two. 

They trade chops and blows int he corner and Rikcy gets an elbows they run the ropes and Dax sends Starks to the floor and tries for a baseball slide, but Starks traps him in the ring skirt and lays in blows. Starks then suplexes Dax on the ramp as we go to pictur in picture and Starks says we’ll be right back.

Backstage, Toni Storm should be calling her agent over him stealing her gimmick.

When we come back to full screen, Dax hits an avalanche suplex from the top. Both men are up at 7 and Dax lays in chops. Starks gets a clothesline and looks for the rochambeau, but Dax escapes and lays in strikes. Dax gets a rollup for two. Dax rolls up again with a handful of tights for two. Starks escapes a simplex and tries for a tornado DDT, but Dax blocks it and hits a sheer drop brainbuster for two. 

Starks tosses Dax into the ring post from the inside and runs into a kick and a pile driver for Dax for two, broken up by Bill, but the ref doesn't see. Cash says he interferes. Dax gets in the ring and Starks grabs him for a pile driver of his own for the pin and the win.

Winner: Ricky Starks

The lights go out and Julia Hart is on the stage. The lights go out and House of Black are in the ring. We then get the music for La Faccion Ingobernable. After a faceoff with FTR, La Faccion attacks the House of Black.

Lexi is with Andrade El Idolo who says he is a businessman and what he does is his business.

Lexi says she does not know what that means as he leaves.

Lexi is with Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale and Sky eBlue. She says Willow and Skye need to settle their issues. Willow says the tension with Skye is growing since they got misted by Julia Hart.  Skye says anything she has to say to Julia is between her and Julia and leaves.

Claudio Castagnoli vs the already in the ring Tracy Williams.

Sorry, Tracy. Claudio beats him down and hits a pair of short arm clotheslines. Trace gets an uppercut and Claudio gets the pin and the win.

Winner: Claudio

Claudio grabs a stretch plum after the bell and lets go when Tracy goes out.

In the back, Samoa Joe shows up and asks MJF if he will take his offer. He says if MJF is in a bad way, he just needs to scream his name and Joe will be his friend.

MJF (AEW World Champion) vs Kenny Omega

Jim Ross joins commentary. Kevin Kelly has left commentary, and in the three man booth, he doesn’t seem to be getting much in during the show. 

Omega is dressed like his character in Captain Laserhawk.

They start with 30 minutes left in the show.

They lock up collar and elbow and move to arm bars. They them move to mat work and no one gets an advantage. They lock up again and MJF gets a side headlock. They run the ropes and MJF puts on the brakes and does a strut. They run the ropes again and MJF grabs a quick pin for two. They run again and then both kip up, with Omega slipping a bit. 

MJF calls for sportsmanship handshake. Omega shakes his hand and MJF pokes Omega in the eye. MJF charges into Omega and Omega puts him up and over and then hits a dive onto MJF. MJF gets in thering and hits a moonsault onto Omega on the floor. They return to the ring and Omega tries for a hurricanrana and MJF makes it a back breaker for two. MJF grabs a read headlock on the mat. Omega works to his feet and frees himself with elbows, but MJF grabs a wrist. MJF gets a big back drop and then a DDT for two.

MJF mocks Omega’s V Trigger and Omega catches him with a snapdragon. Omega hits a series of axe handles and then kicks MJF’s leg out from under him for two. Omega gets a straight jacket hold on the mat. They work to their feet and go into the ropes. Omega clothesline MJF to the floor. Omega gets a moonsault from the second rope onto the floor. MJF is rolled into the ring and Omega hits a drop kick to MJF’s back for two. 

Omega hits You Cannot Escape, and MJF gets his knees up. MJF then slams Omega’s head into the turnbuckles repeatedly and then mounts for ten blows in the corner and bites Omega. MJF whips Omega into the turnbuckle and calls for the Kangaroo kick, which knocks Omega to the floor. MJF goes for a dive, but Omega gets in the ring and stops him with a knee strike. Omega gets a back breaker for two. 

Omega calls for the V Trigger and MJF rolls out of the ring. Omega instead kicks MJF into the announce table. Omega pulls out a table from under the ring and sets it up at ringside. Omega sees MJF in the ring and comes off the apron for a sunset flip. They trade cradles for two counts. Omega hits a power bomb into the corner and MJF comes off with a clothesline on Omega. 

Both men are down. MJF is up at 7 and gets on the apron. Omega is up and they fight on the apron. Omega gets a snapdragon on the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring. Omega then power bombs MJF through the table and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, MJF is rolled into the ring and Omega winces as he gets in the ring. They push through the pain to start throwing hands in the middle of the ring. Omega hits a series of blows unanswered and MJF stops him with a thumb to the eye. They run the ropes and Omega gets a big knee. MJF is hoisted for the one winged angel, but MJF gets out fo it with a poisonrana. Omega answers with his own poisonrana. They are up at 7 and MJF gets a double stomp on Omega’s arm. Omega gets a jumping knee strike and MJF gets an arm drag twist takedown. He then gets a blue thunder bomb for two.

MJF hits an underhook shoulder breaker and a kick, and Omega is able to counter MJF into a suplex and then a pile driver for two. They move to picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, they are brawling on the floor. Omega power bombs on the barricade and then rolls MJF into the ring. Omega goes to the top and MJF hits the ropes, crouching Omega on the top. MJF goes to the top with Omega, gyrates, and Omega is able to hit snake eyes on the top turnbuckle. Omega hits a running knee, a snapdragon and another running knee for two.

Omega calls for and this a V Trigger. He hits another and pulls up MJF for the one winged angel, but Don Callis runs to ringside, allowing MJF to escape. MJF gets a rollup for two, Omega reverses for two. Omega gets a V Trigger for two. Callus gets on the apron and the ref throws him out. Omega puts MJF for the one winged angel and MJF turns it into a forward roll and they trade rollups for two. MJF gets a knee lift and a heat seeker for two. 

MJF says this is for Adam, and tries for a Panama S+sunrise, but Omega blocks it and gets a rollup for two. MJF gets a kick on Omega and hits the Panama sunrise followed by a heat seeker for the win and the win.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: MJF

Samoa Joe is watching the back as is Wardlow. Powerhouse Hobbs and then Bullet Club Gold is watching as well.

This was an awesome match, and one of the best TV main events in a while. MJF and Omega shake hands and hugs.  

MJF will now be the longest reigning AEW World Champion.
