Tod Gordon will be signing his memoir this Saturday 10/28 at the Icons of Wrestling convention at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia this Saturday. It will be the first Philly area book signing since Gordon and Sean Oliver released Tod is God a few months back.
In really sad news, the legendary Hamburg Fieldhouse in Hamburg, PA will no longer be hosting events with the final scheduled event slated to be an independent wrestling show on 12/23. WFMZ is reporting that the venue, which is owned and operated by a local volunteer fire department, will be leasing the space to an auto dealer and cease running events. The venue hosted WWF and WWWF events dating back to 1960 including TV tapings for All-Star Wrestling and Championship Wrestling. The venue was host to the infamous Piper's Pit where Roddy Piper attacked Jimmy Snuka. ECW ran TV tapings there in 1994, including an absolutely incredible Sabu vs. Cactus Jack match and would also host house shows there in 1997 and 1998. American Xcellence Wrestling, run by Kevin Kelly, had been running there recently in conjunction with legends conventions. I attended a few ECW shows there and the atmosphere and ambiance was always great. It's a sign of the times but seeing yet another old venue potentially disappear is really sad to hear about.
