AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2023-10-20 23:02:00

It is Friday and this week, AEW Rampage was recorded after AEW DynamiteDynamite is at the Fort Bend Epicenter in Rosenburg, TX. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone, and Excalibur.

Rocky Romero (CMLL World Historic Welterweight Champion) vs Mistico (CMLL World Middleweight Champion)  Two out of Three Falls

It's the first time Mistico has been on AEW, and we are told by Excalibur that the title are not on the line.

We have a referee from CMLL as well.

They lock up collar and elbow and Romero forces them to the ropes where they break clean. They lock up again and quickly  move to running the ropes where Romeo gets a shoulder tackle. They move to quick takedowns and one counts. Mistico gets a headscissors takedown and then a tornado dive onto Romero on the floor. Back in the ring, Mistico gets a Russian leg sweep into a modified bow and arrow submission and Romero quickly taps.

Winner First Fall: Mistico

Romero is able to toss Mistico out of the ring and tosses him into the steel steps. He rolls Mistico into the ring and pulls at the mask of Mistico and the ref forces him to break as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, we see the mask has been torn. Romero gets the forever clotheslines on Mistico in the corner. Romero grabs a red chinlock and Mistico fights his way free and they run the ropes. Mistico gets a tejaris takedown and follows with an arm drag when he ran up the ropes and did a tornado leap into that arm drag, propelling Romero to the floor. Mistico starts for a dive, but Romero is able to duck down and Mistico puts on the brakes.

Romero tries to get in the ring but Mistico meets him with a kick and they throw hands on the apron. Romero gets a snap suplex on the apron. Romero hits a diving spear onto Mistico. They fight to the ring and go to the top where Romero hits an avalanche suplex for two. Romero cuts off Mistico running the ropes with a mule kick. Romero grabs a camel clutch. Mistico breaks the grip and Romero nails him in the back of the head for his trouble.

Romero hits sliced bread for the pin and the second fall.

Winner of the second fall: Rocky Romero

Mistico rolls to the floor slowly and we go picture in picture again. When we return to full screen, Romero puts Mistico on the second turnbuckle and joins him for an avalanche sliced bread, but Mistico is able to fight his way free. Mistico then goes up and over the top of the top turnbuckle, leaping over the ring post onto Romero on the floor.

Mistico rolls Romero into the ring for a two count. Mistico leaps off the second rope onto Romero for a two count, and that leap looked impressive in how long he was in the air. Mistico gets a scoop and a slam and goes to the top for a moonsault, but Romero gets a boot up. Romero charges into a power slam by Mistico for a two count. Romero charges again and Mistico puts him on the top and tries for a German suplex, but Romero is able to fight him off. Romero is abel to get an avalanche sliced bread for two.

Romero slowly goes to the top. Mistico leaps up to meet him there and hits an avalanche Spanish Fly. Mistico takes too long to cover and only gets two. Romero gets a jaw breaker and Mistico is able to recover and hits a destroyer and big tejaris and a arm bar and Romero has to submit.

Winner of the third fall and overall winner: Mistico

I liked this match a lot. Lots of action, both men sold well so it didn’t seem like a crazy spotfest, and coming out of it, you know Mistico’s style.

In the back, Stokely Hathaway is with Jeff Jartrett’s team and Eddie Kingston. Jay Lethal says he has earned a shot at the Ring of Honor World Title due to his years of excellence. Stokely puts the mic in Eddie’s face and pulls it away and says that tomorrow it will be Jeff Jarrett vs Eddie Kingston and if Jarrett wins, Lethal gets a title shot. Stokely then says that Eddie agrees.

Eddie grabs the mic and shoves Stokely back. He says that he knows about Jarrett’s tricks and says that Jarrett is a hillbilly bitch and he will take him out.

John Silver w/Evil Uno and Alex Reynolds vs Kip Sabian w/Penelope Ford, Butcher, and Blade vs Brother Zay w/No one  Winner gets a match with Orange Cassidy tomorrow for the AEW International Championship.

Interesting that Brother Zay comes out in his old Private Party gear, to the Private Party theme all by himself.  I will point out once again that the Babyfaces are morons, coming to the ring alone while the heels come to the ring with small armies.

Silver rolls out of the ring and hangs with SDark Order. Zay and Kip run the ropes and Zay gets an arm drag and a neck breaker. Zay then starts with the ten punches in the corner and Silver get6s in the ring and drops Zay while his back was turned. Zay gets a drop kick on Silver when Silver tries for a pop up powerbomb. Zay dives onto Silver and when he tries for Kip, Kip meets him with a kick from the apron.

Kip goes to work on Zay in the corner and follows with a cannonball. Kip and Silver go face to face in the middle of the ring and Kip tries to work out a deal. They both attack Zay as we go picture in picture. Oh, and Butcher’s new gimmick is that he is eating a sammich at ringside.

When we return to full screen, Kip and Silver’s alliance has broken down. Silver whips Kip into the corner and then he charges at Zay, who flips him up and over. Zay gets a guillotine Silver on the top rope, hits an insigiri on Kip. Zay hits a series of leaps and dives on both Silver and Kip. Zay then hits an over the top stunner on Kip for two.

Zay calls for the Delete, and is shoved off by Silver when he tries for a Twist of Fate. Silver then gorilla presses Kip and tosses him into Zay’s yam bag in the corner. Silver then hits a German suplex on Kip for two. Silver kicks Zay, who is still down on the corner, and Kip dodges Silver's attack and hits a moonsault onto him on the floor.

Then, all of the Heels’ entourages get in each other’s faces. Of course, thai means Zay leaps onto all of them. He rolls Kip into the ring and hits a swanton bomb for two, broken up by Silver. Silver takes advantage of Zay and gets the pin and the win.

Winner and Facing Orange Cassidy for the International Championship tomorrow night: John Silver

We get another package of the feud between Santana and Ortiz.

Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta vs the Already In The Ring Exodus Prime and Bounty Hunter Brian Keith

I’ve seen Keith on a few Indy shows, and he’s a solid hand. Plus, he wears the poncho from “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly” which earns him points in my book. But, he’s already in the ring so…

Keith gets a series of blows on Yuta, backing him into the corner until the ref pulls him off. Yuta is able to grab Keith when he tries for a leaping back elbow, walks him out and gives him a German suplex, allowing him to tag in Prime. Claudio tags in and Keith is clotheslines out of the ring. Yuta catapults Prime into Claudio’s hands where he is gorilla pressed and dropped. Claudio then builds up a head of steam ont he floor and gives Kieth a running uppercut.

Yuta is tagged in, Prime gets the giant swing, and Yuta hits the drop kick, and they follow with the fastball special for the pin and the win.

Winners: Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta

Renee Paquette interviews the former Jericho Appreciation Society, Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, Anna Jay, Matt Menard, and Angleo Parker, who have a match for the Trio titles on Saturday. She asks if they can get on the same page. Garcia and Menard argue and Hager tells them to figure this out. He didn’t give up the hat for this. Anna tells them to get it together for a chance to win.

Matt and Daniel shake hands

The Young Bucks and Adam Page says they will defend the Ring of Honor trios titles in an open challenge on Wednesday.

The “Dream match” is Andrade El Idolo and Bryan Danielson.

The Main Event: Skye Blue vs Ruby Soho w/Saraya

Skye’s attitude is still darkening. Heer eye makeup is uber gothy, and she has a grey streak in her hair.

They lock up and Ruby forces them into the corner and breaks with a chop and Skye tells her to keep them coming, and then goes after Ruby with her own chops. Ruby gets a back heel trip and then lets her get up to hit a pair of short arm clotheslines. Skye dodges the third, runs the ropes and hits a tejaris. She follows with a thrust kick and then charges into the corner, and Ruby gets a back elbow.

Skye knocks Ruby off the top and hits a roundhouse kick. They struggle on the apron and Skye hits a facebuster on the apron, and gives Soaya a rising knee strike. Ruby is able to hit a running boot from the apron on Skye. Ruby then hits a chop on the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Ruby is working over Skye, and Saraya attacks whenever the ref is distracted. There is one sequence where Ruby hits Sky with a chop on the barricade, and Saraya yells at a little girl in the front row “It’s YOUR fault!” right afterwards. Sky estarts to fight back and Ruby cuts her off and tosses her in the ring.

They trade blows in the middle of the ring, and Skye rakes Ruby’s eyes to get the advantage. Skye hits a sling blade followed by a clothesline. Skye fishhooks Ruby, nails her with an elbow and then a running knee. Skye hits a chop clock on Ruby and covers for two. They reverse holds until Skye gets a neckbreaker for two.

Skye goes to the ropes and Saraya grabs the foot. Ruby uses the distraction for a suplex for two. Ruby puts Skye on the top and climbs up for a suplex, but Skye escapes and gets a power slam out of the corner for two. Skye grounds and pounds Ruby and when Saraya gets ont he apron, Skye pops her a good one. Ruby uses the distraction for No Future for two.

Skye is able to escape Destination Unknown and grabs a backslide for two. Ruby tries for No Future again, and Skye blocks it, hits a knee strike and sets for Skyfall, but Ruby escapes, knocking Skye into the middle rope. That’s where Saraya is able to use the spray paint can and Ruby rolls up Skye for the pin and the win.

Winner: Ruby Soho

The Outcasts attack Skye, and Kris Statlander shows up in street clothes to even the odds. When Kris tries to help her up, Skye rolls away.
