Welcome to the Impact Wrestling on AXS TV report for the final episode before Saturday's Bound for Glory PPV Saturday night in Chicago!
Mike Bailey vs. Samuray del Sol
This was a really good back and forth match that started with two babyfaces showing respect to each other but slowly, Del Sol started getting showing some angst over Bailey outclassing him. Bailey knocked him to the outside but missed a dive and crashed and burned. He battled back to the ring and nailed a series of kicks for a two count. Del Sol missed a superkick by Matrix-ing out of the way. They nailed a dropkick at the same time several times. Del Sol wiped Bailey out with a kick to the face. He went to the top but was caught and kicked off, crashing to the floor. Bailey hit this awesome twisting moonsault to the floor. Bailey's Ultima Weapon was blocked but he came back with a Spanish Fly fo a two count. They continued back and forth with some nice sequences until finally Bailey caught him with the spinning kick and nailed Ultima Weapon for the pin.
Your winner, Mike Bailey!
Strong competitive bout to build Speedball leading into Will Ospreay this Saturday!
Dirty Dango did a brief, disrespectful promo knocking everyone while putting over Oleg Prudius and John E./Alpha Bravo.
Backstage, ABC promised that The Rascalz couldn't run when it comes to their Tag Team title match this Saturday.
Kenny King (with Sheldon Jean) vs. Heath Miller
They battled around the ringside area with Heath all fired up, which makes sense, since King basically threatened his kids a week or so back. He nailed a clothesline on the floor but the story was that he rolled his ankle, which allowed an opportunity for Kenny to work hit over. Heath made a brief comeback but King went right back to the ankle. Heath finally caught a powerslam and went after Jean, who tried to interfere. King rolled him up and placed his feet on the ropes for leverage but the official actually did his job and caught him. King was nailed with a spinebuster but Jean got involved, so Heath drilled him. This allowed King to catch him with a kick and nail The Royal Flush for the pin.
Your winner, Kenny King!
Solid. This should add some story to the Gauntlet this Saturday with Miller looking to settle the score.
Backstage after that insanely awesome match last week, Frankie Kazarian spoke about Eddie Edwards. He never hated him and they are brothers because they were each trained by Killer Kowalski. Going forward, Eddie will have to respect Kazarian.
Crazzy Steve vs. Black Taurus in a No DQ Match
This was easily the best match of Crazzy Steve's Impact run. Let's stated that immediately. Taurus attacked his arm immediately and went for a steel chair. Steve avoided the shot and took posession of the chair, nailing Taurus with it as he taunted him. He constructed several chairs together and tried to put Taurus through them but was blocked. Steve was hit with a backbreaker through the chairs but kicked out. Taurus went to suplex him off the apron through chairs set up on the floor but Steve battled his way out of it. Taurus controlled him with a series of Slingblades. A trash can was brought into the equation but Steve used a droptoehold to smash Taurus into it. Taurus went for a spinebuster but Steve countered it into a Destroyer variation for a two count. Taurus went for a move but was caught and backdropped through the chairs on the floor, landing RUDELY through them. Stevebullah the Butcher went for his trusty fork but Taurus blocked it and tried to use the fork (tm Luke Skywalker) on Steve. Crazzy Steve began backing off so Taurus dropped the fork. He went for a move but Steve ripped at his eyes, placed the Feast or Fired Briefcase on across his throat and rammed Taurus into the buckles. He nailed the Belladonna Kiss and scored the pin.
Your winner, Crazzy Steve!
This was a hell of a match.
They did a series of promos from talents on wanting to win the Gauntlet for the Gold. This did a really nice job of making the match important.
Backstage, Gia Miller interviewed Knockouts Champion Trinity and Mickie James. They promised their match tonight as partners would not cascade over into any issues on Saturday.
Moose & Brian Myers vs. Rhino & PCO
Some solid back and forth action early. Moose was slammed into the buckles face-first over and over. Myers attacked Rhino from behind an choked him on the ropes before hitting a Russian Legsweep, scoring a two count. Moose went for a suplex but it was reversed. PCO got the hot tag and cleaned house, nailing a DDT and a legdrop off the ropes. Moose broke up the pinfall. PCO nailed him with a clothesline, sending him over the top to the floor. Back in the ring, PCO took out Myers and went for the moonsault but Moose saved his partner and rolled him out of the way. Rhino nailed a suplex and set up for a Gore but Steve Maclin hit the scene and dragged Rhino to the outside, running him into a ring post. Maclin set up for a move but Bully Ray came out. PCO hit a tope con hilo on Maclin but when he returned to the ring, caught a spear from Moose and was pinned.
Your winners, Moose and Bryan Myers!
Good preview for Monster's Ball.
Knockouts Tag Team Champions MK Ultra cut a promo promising to take out Tasha Steels and Deonna Purrazzo Saturday.
They aired a promotion video pushing Bailey vs. Ospreay.
Backstage, Rhino warned Bully Ray that he didn't trust him, nor did he want his help.
They went to a backstage segment with Scott D'Amore sitting down with Impact Wrestling Champion Alex Shelley and his challenger Saturday, Josh Alexander. This was excellent and should be the template for everyone trying to do these sort of segments. Josh went respond to a question but Shelley interjected that perhaps the champion should speak first. Slow burn. Alex said that Impact was a company he built, so he's taking this match very personally. Alexander said that he wasn't taking anything away from Shelley but he can see him cracking under the pressure of being the champion and it's showing in how he acts. He said Alex wanted him to be 100% in the match but he's also accused Josh of just being a transitional champion. That's because Shelley knows deep down that he's actually the transitional champion and he's projected it at Josh. Shelley lost his cool and came charging to fight as Scott tried to break it up. Really good, serious stuff that upped the ante of anticipation for the match.
Knockouts Champion Trinity & Mickie James vs. Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans (with Jai Vidal)
Mickie and Trinity were jumped before the bell but came back to hit stereo Lou Thesz Presses. It settled down into Evans and Mickie starting. Savannah has really found her confidence in the last few months. Mickie had control early. Trinity nailed her split legdrops for a two count. Gisele and Savannah cut her off in the ring and nailed a double suplex. Trinity was worked over but almost made the tag, except Gisele struck Mickie with a forearm to knock her off the apron. They controlled Trinity in the ring for some time. James finally made the hot tag and the babyfaces cleaned house with Evans eating a DDT for the pin. Good stuff.
Your winners, Mickie James and Knockouts Champion Trinity!
They celebrated in the ring but Mickie held onto the title to make it clear she was coming for it Sunday.
A very good final show. Impact has been clicking well lately. This looks to be a good PPV to jump on board if you haven't been watching.
