FULL AEW DYNAMITE BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2023-10-18 20:33:00

It is Wednesday and this week Dynamite is at the Fort Bend Epicenter in Rosenburg, TX. The commentary team is Tony Schiavone and Excalibur.

Penta w/Alex Abrahantes vs Jay White w/Bullet Club Gold

Jay White is still wearing the AEW World Title that he stole from MJF.

Penta hits a dive on the Bullet Club Gold, but not White, so they brawl on the floor. It really feels like they have done a good job to make White into The Big Heel for AEW since All In. It also helps that Penta is the Brawler of the Lucha Brothers, making this more of White’s style of match. The match works as a solid back and forth with a lot of good brawling between the two.

Bullet Club adds to the match with Juice being absolutely nuts at ringside being over the top with all of his reactions. In the end, Juice gets the Left Hand Of God with the fake Diamond Ring on Penta so that White can get the pin and the win.

Winner: Jay White

White grabs a mix after the match and cuts a promo on MJF not being there to try to get his belt back. He then says MJF can't find anyone to team up with him to get the belt back. Juice grabs the mic, and says he will win the Dynamite Dozen.

They have just quietly dropped the quarters thing for last week and switched to Juice having a cheap ring from TJ Maxx to attack him with instead.

Renee Paquette is with MJF and he says he’s too smart to head out there to face four men and get beat down by them. He says he will get the belt back before Full Gear, and he says people just like Jay White at New York Comic Con. Cosplayers. He then says he hopes Juice win so he can beat him up next week.

The Acclaimed show and Max Caster says they will team with him for a four man tag. He then says after they win they can scissor, which annoys MJF.  The rest of the Acclaimed tell Max he came on too strong, and Max says “Yeah, he’s a scumbag, but he’s my scumbag.”

I do NOT get what they are doing with Max Caster.

Hikaru Shida (AEW Women’s Champion) vs Emi Sakura

Emi attacks Shida before the match, which has quickly become the new version of the post-match beatdown. These two have worked together a lot over the years, so it’s a good way for Shida to get a first big win after winning the title back. They have a LONG sequence of near falls in the last third of the match that were a lot of fun, but the match was never in doubt. Shida wins with the Katana.

Winner: Hikaru Shida

We then get a pre-tape with Renee having a sitdown with Adam Copeland, and he lays out the entire feud with Christian Cage. Odd that he gives this interview NOT in front of the crowd. He tells a story of their history that he always has brought Cage along with him because Cage didn’t want to take the chances to get in the business, step out of their comfort zone, and move forward until now, and Cage is so jealous of him.

Adam gives the interview as a pro, telling his story, bringing us along, and giving everything context.

He then says he won’t fight Cage, but when Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne bail on him, he will be there to pick Cage up like he always does.

That last bit is a great hook, because Cage will latch onto it and run with it.

Wardlow vs the Already in the ring Ryan Nemeth

Thanks for coming Nick. The ref stops it after  the first power bomb.

Winner: Wardlow

Tony Schiavone goes to the ring to get a word with Wardlow. He asks Wardlow wh he is back, and Wardlwo shows the MJR written on his wrist tape and then Wardlow shoulder checks Tony as he walks by and goes to the back.

So, we have seen the MJF on hsi tape since his return.

Renee is in the back with Kenny Omega and she asks him about the match with Kyle Fletcher. Kenny says his win/loss record has been the best, but Fletcher reminded him he was the measuring stick. He will next go after the Don Callis family, and then, maybe the World Title.

MJF shows and says he was always a big fan, asks to shake Kenny’s hand and when he does, he whispers “Thirteen Days, bitch.”

We then go back to Roderick Strong’s house, and ADAM! Cole is still helping out Roddy by bringing him coffee. Roddy is upset that the coffee is hot, but he apologizes and says he would like one of ADAM!’s famous peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We get a music video of him making the sandwich, but ADAM! Forgot to cut off the crusts. ADAM! Says he is done and storms out on his wheely cart.

Roddy says he knows how to get his best friend back. He’ll have to be nice to MJF.

Back in the ring, Tony has recovered from the high school shoulder check and is ready to interview Don Callis.  Don arrives with the Chord of Doom playing, and Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs come to the ring with him.

Don says that Hobbs broke Jericho. Hobbs then tells a story about how he was going to meet Jericho as a kid, and he told Hobbs grandmother to shut up and told Hobbs to sit down.  And Hobbs has been holding that grudge since he was a 7 year old child.

The big grudges in AEW keep reaching further back, so I look forward to the next big betrayal angle to be because someone stole candy from a wrestler when they were a baby.

Callus says they will unleash Hobbs on AEW/ Callus says they are undefeated in the last four months except when Sammy Guevara got injured and they had to bring in Kyle Fletcher, who lost and screwed over the Don Callis Family.

Kyle Fletcher comes out and gets in Callis’s face saying he did the match as a favor after Will Ospreay says Callis was begging for help. He then says he will prove he doesn’t need anyone’s help to beat Kenny Omega.

Callus says if Fletcher beats Omega, he may have an opportunity for him next week.

Kenny Omega vs Klye Fletcher

Feltcher, as everyone else in tonight’s show, attacks before the bell and Callis joins commentary. Omega spends the first segment taking Fletcher’s attacks with Fletcher just going full out against Omega. Fletcher even interrupts the Terminator dive. Omega attempts a charge outside the ring and Fletcher trips him as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Omega is starting to get his feet under him. Fletcher is able to cut him off and he takes control of the match again, hitting big moves on Omega. As it goes on, it almost feels like an overlong squash match with Omega as being the guy Already In The Ring when the match starts.  The story has been that Omega has not been able to get wins over the last few months, and they are working to build up Fletcher since Davis is out injured.

Omega is able to get a flurry of offense and end with the One Winged Angel.

Winner: Kenny Omega

Callis praised Fletcher when he was willing and calling him a miserable failure when Omega could get control, and goes back and forth. We are also told the the 13 days comment was that it is 13 days until MJF has held the title longer than Omega.

We then get the Danhaused Halloween 3 video.

SILVER SHAMROCK!

We have about 12 minutes for the Main Event:

The Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal

MJF joins commentary, and he’s wearing jeans and cowboy boots. I hopes this means when they go to Canada, he’ll wear the full denim outfit as a “Canadian Tuxedo”

  • Matt Sydal is out first.

  • Johnny TV and Daniel Garcia have a dance off, and Jeff Hardy joins in.

  • Johnny TV is tossed

  • Matt Hardy is eliminated

  • This feels like a Battle Royal on fast forward

  • MJF heads to the ring a n d gets on the apron. He then gives money to Dustin Rhodes, who goes to work on Juice Robinson

  • Komander is tossed

  • Jake Hager is out

  • Matt Menard and Trent Beretta fight on the apron and Trent is finally knocked to the floor

  • Jeff Hardy is tossed

  • Daniel Garcia sets up to dance and Menard stops him

  • Menard and Rhodes are dumped one after the other after Garcia accidentally slams into Menard.

  • Garcia is tossed and it’s Max Caster and Juice Robinson left

  • Juice is on the apron and Max gets in a ton of strikes

  • Max and Juice fight on the apron

  • They start fighting on the turnbuckle from the apron.

  • Juice falls into the ring and Max hits the mic drop

  • Jay White attacks MJF at the announce position and they fight on the stage

  • MJF gets his title belt back, but Jay hits a low blow.

  • Juice puts on the ring as the ref is not looking and hits the Left Hand of God on max

  • Max is dumped to the floor

Winner and getting a match with MJF for the Dynamite Diamond: Juice Robinson

Jay has left with the belt again.
