10/7 NJPW ROAD TO DESTRUCTION RESULTS FROM MIYAGI, JAPAN

10/7/23 Results from New Japan’s Road to DESTRUCTION From Miyagi, Japan:

Due to injuries and illnesses, there were changes to the card.

1 - Boltin Oleg vs. Yuto Nakashima

Oleg picked up Nakashima in a fireman’s carry and flipped him into a slam.

Oleg pins Nakashima.

2 - Callum Newman, HENARE and Great O-Khan vs. Oskar Leube, Toru Yano and YOSHI-HASHI

O-Khan hits a knock out punch to Oskar’s jaw.   

O-Khan pins Oskar.

3 - Best of Seven - Match 6: Shota Umino, Master Wato and Yuji Nagata vs. Ren Narita, El Desperado and Minoru Suzuki

Suzuki hits a Gotch piledriver on Nagata.

Suzuki pins Nagata.

4 - El Phantasmo and Tanga Loa vs. Dan Moloney and Chase Owens

ELP was added to the Guerrillas of Destiny entrance video.  Looks like he is now with G.O.D.

The entire Bullet Club War Dogs come to the ring and attack ELP and Tanga.   KUSHIDA, Tama Tonga and Jado make the save.  Complete chaos as they all fight into the crowd.

Tama pins Gedo after a Gun Stun.

Massive brawl after the match.  War Dogs lay out G.O.D.

5 - SHO, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL, with Dick Togo vs. TAKA Michinoku, DOUKI, Taichi and SANADA

The babyfaces are announced as Just 5 Guys.

Kanemaru hits DOUKI with his whisky bottle and a brainbuster.

Kanemaru pins DOUKI

EVIL lays out SANADA with a twisting neck breaker.

6 - Elimination Match:    YOH, Ryusuke Taguchi, Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada vs. BUSHI, Yota Tsuji, Shingo Takagi, Hiromu Takahashi and Tetsuya Naito

Ishii and Takagi eliminate each other over the top.

Tanahashi is eliminated over the top.

Tsuji is eliminated over the top.

Naito and Okada are eliminated over the top.

BUSHI is eliminated over the top.

Hiromu eliminates Taguchi with a Hiromu Roll. 

YOH pins Hiromu with a Direct Driver.

Wow, YOH is now in position to get a title match against Hiromu.

Predictions on the big matches for DESTRUCTION in Ryogoku on October 9: 

SHO, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Yujiro Takahashi vs. DOUKI, Taichi and ?

Just 5 Guys have teased a new member.   I predict a young lion like Ryohei Oiwa.   This will lead to the World Title Match later in the night.


IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship:  Kevin Knight and KUSHIDA vs. Clark Conners and Drilla Moloney

War Dogs will retain.   KUSHIDA and Knight may win Super Jr. Tag League and these teams will face each other again at Wrestle Kingdom.


STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship:  El Phantasmo and Hikuleo vs. Gabe Kidd and Alex Coughlin

ELP and Hikuleo don’t need the belts.  War Dogs need the belts more to keep Bullet Club Strong.


NEVER Openweight 6-man Tag Team Championship:  Josh Alexander, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelly vs. Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada

I don’t see the Impact Wrestlers winning here.  Tanahashi will get his win back against Shelly.


NEVER Openweight Championship:  Tama Tonga vs. David Finlay

This feud has been going on for a while and getting stale.   Finlay should retain to keep the War Dogs relevant.   If Tama wins, this keeps going to Wrestle Kingdom.   


IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship:  Lio Rush vs. Mike Bailey vs. Hiromu Takahashi

This was a hard match to build up since Bailey is not here.  Rush has missed some recent events with an illness.  Hopefully, Rush is ready to go.  However, I see Hiromu retaining the title here.


IWGP World Heavyweight Championship - Lumberjack Match:  EVIL vs. SANADA

This has been bridging feud to get SANADA to Tetsuya Naito at Wrestle Kingdom.   This has given House of Torture more heat as SHO has won the KOPW Title from Taichi. Also, the drama between Just 5 Guys has been a nice storyline.   SANADA should win. This feud may not be over as both factions will be Super Jr. and World Tag League in the coming months.
