FULL AEW DYNAMITE BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2023-10-04 20:31:00

It is Wednesday and this week, AEW Dynamite is at the Stockton Arena in Stockton CA.  The commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz.

We start with Renee Paquette interviewing Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho, and Adam Copeland shows after Jericho says he will win. Kenny says it is good to meet him and he had Kenny on the Edge of his seat.

Rey Fenix (AEW International Champion) vs Nick Jackson

Both men come out with their tag team partners, and we start the 4th anniversary show with two men who have worked together a LOT over the years.

It doesn’t take long before they have moved into brawling outside the ring and high spots. When we get the to picture in picture, Fenix is getting beat down, and the announcers had said that Fenix was injured in the four way tag team match at WrestleDream. When we return they go into the Big Moves and two counts. Fenix gets a poisonrana and a destroyer and kicks out at two.

I think that’s all you need to know about this match.

Fenix is not able to get the pile driver and instead wins the match with a surprise roll up.

Winner and still AEW International Champion: Rey Fenix

This is a match for the people who like this kind of match and it will not win anyone over who does not.

We then get a video with terrible sound of ADAM! Cole going to visit Roderick Strong. Roderick shows that he bought ADAM a scooter for his injured leg and they have a blast wheeling around the house. This is a bit where they get ADAM to move furniture despite the pain in his leg, but I can’t understand anything benign said due to the terrible sound.

Wardlow vs the Already in the ring Griff Garrison

Warlow has a new entrance video calling him the Warwolf.

Sorry, Griff.

Griff takes five power bombs and the ref calls the match.

Winner: Wardlow

Warlow storms off and we get a video package of Adam Copeland’s appearance at Wrestle Dream.

When we return, Renee is with Don Callis and Takeshita, and Don lets us know that Sammy Guevara is not medically cleared for tonight’s match. Don says it is not a problem, and Kyle Fletcher will be taking his place, and he will win the war no matter what it takes.

We then get the ADAM Cole visit with Roderick Strong again with decent audio this time.

The gist of it is that Roddy needed ADAM to move furniture because The Kingdom don’t know anything about interior design, and they smirk at ADAM while he hurts himself moving things.

The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) and Billy Gunn (AEW Trios Champion) vs Butcher, Blade, and Kip Sabian

Sabian’s team attacks before the bell and The Acclaimed at Gunn take over as they brawl on the outside. The Acclaimed take the ring for a scissor Jones. In the ring, Max and Blade start out and Butcher joins in as Kip works over Bowens on the outside of the ring as we go picture in picture.

Whyhen we come back, the brawling is still going. Blade takes the Scissor Me Timbers, Bowens hits an assisted Arrival on Kip for the pin and the win.

Winners and still AEW Trios Champions: The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn

We get another segment of RJ City with Toni Storm, and he starts by saying Toni has been wrestling for 14 years, and she loses it, ranting and throwing shoes. She grabs him by the lapels and yells at him and when he says she’s not even old, she declares she is timeless with the appropriate music.

We get a video of Zack Sabre Jr. and Bryan Danielson discussing their match at Wrestle Dream, and it’s pretty clear they will be having another match because it didn’t end with a technical match.  I’m thinking they may have to have a Pure Rules match.

We then get a Promo from Adam Page that he doesn’t consider the feud with Swerve Strickland over because Swerve cheated.

Then, we get a recap of the attack on Jay White last week by someone in MJF’s Devil mask. This is followed by Juice Robinson and the Gunns. Jay White is not with them, and neither is Flat Jay White.

It’s Story Time with The Bang Bang Gang, and they will be addressing MJF. Juice calls out MJF and says if he’s a MAN, he will come out and face them like one.

And MJF obliges them.

He gets the crowd to chant Ass Boys at the Gunns and Talentless Taint at Juice.

And Juice says his taint is rock hard.

THIS IS ENTERTAINMENT, FOLKS!!

MJF goes over his greatest hits and says he’s not scared of being thrown off of TV and can attack anyone if he wants. He didn’t attack Jay White, but if they don't want to talk it out, he says how about right here, right now, we have a street fight.

MJF charges into the ring and they leave. Once MJF hits the ring, Jay White hits MJF with a blade runner. Bullet Club Gold stand over MJF with his belt. They leave with White carrying the belt.

When they make it to the stage, White puts the title on his shoulder and says he is a cut above and his cheap tricks don’t work here. He says they need an Elite champion, and if he wants to show he’s better than Jay White, he needs to accept his challenge for Full Gear.

MJF says he has two words for him: You’re On

That may be the longest build for any match AEW has ever done.

In the back, Renee is with Hook and Orange Cassidy, she says they got close to winning a chance at the tag team titles. Cassidy says they would have been great champions, and Hook says Cassidy should be a great champion as well and he should face Rey Fenix and not Mox.

Hook then offers Renee some of his chips and she declines because as a Canadian, she only eats Ketchup or All Dressed chips.

Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho vs Konasuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher

Don’s team comes out to the Chord of Doom, and he joins commentary. The rest of the commentary team notice the painting of the Last Supper with Don as Jesus that he used last week.

Kenny and Jericho are able to work over Takeshita with quick tags and we go to picture in picture fairly quickly. When we come back, Fletcher takes a lionsault and Kenny is able to tag in as Jericho has been the babyface in peril through the commercial. Fletcher and Takeshita take control again and they work well together, making their stuff look good as they cut off Jericho and Kenny.

Fletcher and Jericho get into a chop battle in the middle of the ring and then take each other down with a clothesline. They get another picture in picture as this match is getting three segments. Jericho gets the hot tag AGAIN as we come back to full screen. Kenny and Fletcher trade forearms in the middle of the ring. Kenny starts to throw V triggers and snapdragon suplexes. Kenny is able to hit the One Winged Angel on Fletcher after Jericho hits a codebreaker on him for the pin and the win.

Winners: Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho

Hobbs clotheslines both Kenny and Jericho out of nowhere. Hobbs hits a spinebuster on Jericho and then goes after Kenny on the floor. Kenny is tossed into the crowd, chairs spilling everywhere. Hobbs follows and tears apart the barricade and slams a segment of it and Hobbs chokes him through the barricade section.

Kenny is tossed back into the ringside area and he is then rolled into the ring. Takeshita holds him and Don duct tapes Kenny to the ropes. Hobbs has a chair and we are told the Bucks have gone to the hospital for some reason. Jericho tries to put himself between Kenny and Hobbs, and Hobbs drops him. Hobbs then just beats Kenny and grabs the chair.

Don stops Hobbs and grabs the chair from him. Don gives Kenny a headshot with the chair. I REALLy hope that is a gimmicked chair.

Don and his team leave Jericho and Kenny laying.

In the trainer's room, Renee asks MJF how he is feeling. He says he wishes ADAM Cole was here. Bowens sneaks in and takes over the massage and MJF tells him to leave him alone. MJF says Bowens has been leaving him notes and weird tweets. MJF calls ADAM’s phone and gets his voice mail and I THINK the outgoing message is from Roddy.

We get Samoa Joe as the Most Interesting Man In The World, and he says he needs to regain his hunger. He says he should be AEW Heavyweight Champion. While he respects MJF for winning their match, when he’s hungry, he always manages to eat.

Skye Blue vs Timeless Toni Storm

Toni’s new entrance is in black and white like an old movie.  Her makeup is smeared when it goes to color, her ring gear is like a 50’s swimsuit.

Her first attack is filled with stomps and screaming after introducing herself to Blue. When we go to picture in picture, she looks at the camera and tells us to pay attention to these very important sponsors. When we come back, Blue is getting offense in, and Toni’s style is completely different now. Her facial expressions are much more dramatic, and when she takes a bump, she looks completely offended. Storm still wins with the hip attack and the Storm Zero.

Winner: Timeless Toni Storm

Stokely Hathaway says there will be a four way match for Eddie Kingston’s Ring of Honor World title because we need a Champion who smells like Tom Ford, not Burger King and Newports.

In the ring, Tony Schiavone brings out Adam Copeland. He says he loves Tony, but it’s his ring now, so hit the bricks. He says he was told in 2011 he can never wrestle again and now he’s in an AEW ring. He says the AEW Championship would look good around hsi weight, and there are a lot of matches he is looking forward to.

He says he asked his kids what he should do and they said he should go have fun with Uncle Jay (Christian Cage) and he calls out Cage.

At this point, we hit the top of the hour, so we are in overtime.

Cage finally comes out.

Adam says they have been best friends for life, and he attacked Cage’s team because he saw what Cage has been doing. He still loves him, but he saw him standing over Sting, a man who’s picture Cage took to the barber to have his hair cut like. He says that people are using him and it’s time.

It’s time, and the first time since 2011 for them to team together again. To face teams like FTR and the Young Bucks and show people why they are one of the greatest tag teams of all time.

The crowd chants one more time.

Cage holds out his hand and takes the mic. He looks at the TNT title and hugs Adam. He then says to go (something censored) yourself. Cage turns and walks away. The crowd lets Cage know that they think. Cage reminds him that he will be facing this man next Tuesday, and Luchasaurus comes out.
