ADAM COPELAND'S FIRST THREE AEW TV APPEARANCES, KHAN ON JADE CARGILL EXITING, CHICAGO RETURN AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2023-10-03 11:00:00

The current plan with Adam Copeland is that he will address coming to AEW on this Wednesday's Dynamite.  He will also appear on this Saturday's Collision.  His first official match for the promotion is slated to be Tuesday 10/10 against Luchasaurus on a special Tuesday Dynamite.  Obviously, at some point, they will do Copeland vs. Christian Cage.  They haven't officially wrestled against each other since a 2010 WWE Monday Night Raw in Toronto.   Khan and Copeland stated he would be appearing weekly, which would indicate a big push for him.

The 11/22 Dynamite in Chicago at the Wintrust Arena and 11/25 Rampage and Collision taping in Pittsburgh will go on sale on 10/6.  There will be online pre-sales on 10/5.

Tony Khan made it clear during the post-media scrum over the weekend Wrestledream would be a regular, yearly PPV but he did not commit to it being in Seattle yearly noting that they couldn't know what commitments the arena would have at this point.  He said with digital projections, the PPV did over 100,000 buys.

On Jade Cargill leaving, Khan stated at the scrum that all the way to the end of her contract, he thought there was a good chance she would remain with the company and that at the end of their discussions, he offered her more money than Cargill had requested for her to remain.  He knew when she returned and laid out Kris Statlander on TV that there was a possibility she would be finishing up and wanted her and Statlander to have a strong match on Rampage in case that was indeed Cargill's farewell, comparing it to WWF showcasing Ric Flair strongly against Curt Hennig in 1993 on the third episode of Monday Night Raw, where Flair was given the chance to be Flair before losing and exiting as opposed to being buried on the way out.  Khan stated that Cargill, who has since signed a multi-year WWE deal, is always welcome back in AEW in the future.

Katsuyori Shibata stated at the media scrum that if AEW wanted to sign him full-time, he was receptive to having those discussions.  Tony Khan could not have been more excited at the prospect.

Kota Ibushi will be back down the line.

Tony Khan stated there was AEW interest in bringing in Pro Wrestling NOAH's Katsuhiko Nakajima, who recently announced he would be exiting that company in Japan.

Eddie Kingston vs. Henare was announced for the 10/28 New Japan Pro Wrestling event in Las Vegas.

Darby Allin was bleeding from his cheek heading into the WrestleDream main event after accidentally hitting himself with his own skateboard.  Allin was going to the hospital regarding his right shoulder after the PPV, but there's been no word on his injury status since Sunday evening.
