WOW - Women of Wrestlng Episode 53 Report
Our commentary team is David McLane and Steven Dickey
New opening for the new season focusing on big moves from the women they use most. They also have updated graphics throughout the show.
It’s the start of the second season, and AJ Mendez has left the company. I think she added a lot to commentary, had a great sense of humor, and didn’t take things serious, which fits the campy/kid friendly tone of the show.
The other thing I have noticed is that they have moved kids to the front row.
Episode 53: The Beast Returns
The Beast is back from injury and she’s in the ring with a mic. She came to WOW to show she was the best of the best and some coward attacked her from behind and broke her leg. She had to give up the championship, but she picked herself up and dusted herself off and is back to remind everyone who she is. Her promo was fantastic.
Adriana Gambino vs Jennifer Flores
They lock up collar and elbow and Gambino shoves Flores into the corner. They break and Flores gets a drop toe hold and a two count. Flores gets a snap mare followed by a dropkick for two. Flores gets a running elbow in the corner and when she tries for another, Gambino dodges and slams her into the turnbuckle. Gambino then works over Flores in the corner and the ropes for a two count.
Gambino gets a series of shoulder thrusts in the corner, but Flores gets a sunset flip for two. Gambino goes back to working Flores over in the corner and gets a Sicilian Slice leg drop for two. Gambino gets a rear chinlock and Flores escapes with elbows after getting to her feet. Flores whips her into the corner, is sent up and over, but recovers with an elbow and a slam for two.
Gambino gets Flores in a fireman’s carry, but Flores escapes. Gambino hits the Chef’s Kiss, a swinging neckbreaker, for the pin and the win.
Winner: Adrianna Gambino
Gambino cuts a mic and says she’s back and people need to watch out for her.
In the back, Sophia Lopez and Lana Starr arrive together.
Tormenta w/Sophia Lopez vs Fury
The Heavy Metal Sisters do not come out with Fury, as she is going it on her own. They allude to the issues they had in the past that caused a break up of the team.
They shove each other and then Tormenta gets a side headlock. Fury reverses and Tormenta escapes and gets a roll up. Fury gets a reversal for two. Torments gets a low dropkick and then a running double knee drop for two. Tormenta gets a reverse butterfly stretch. Furry works out of it and tries for a leaping cross body. Tormenta catches her, but Fury escapes and comes back with a clothesline for two.
Fury locks on a seated abdominal stretch, then breaks to get in a series of blows, followed by choking Tormenta on the second rope. Fury gets a German suplex for two. Fury hits a splash in the corner and then a running back elbow. Tormenta gets a boot up and then a head scissor takedown. Tormenta goes to the top for a meteora for the pin and the win.
Winner: Tormenta
Nigel Zane, the new interviewer, sits down with the Tonga Twins about winning the Tag Team Titles. We get a video recap of their win over Miami Sweet Heat. The twins say they are happy to do it for their island and their family.
Crystal Waters and Sandy Shore vs Miami Sweet Heat (Laurie and Linsey Carlson)
Both teams taunt each other after the bell rings and then Waters and Shore hit dropkicks on the Carlsons. They then hit stereo face busters. It then becomes Waters in the ring and the Carlsons keeping her in the ring with quick tags. Waters is able to get in a series of attacks in a neutral corner, but Laurie cuts her off, but misses a leg drop.
Shore tags in and cleans house. All four women fight in the ring, The Carlsons take control, and when Lindsey holds Shore, Laurie leaps off the top for a dropped elbow that they call the Fab Jab for the pin and the win.
Winners: Miami Sweet Heat
Sweet Heat gets a win after losing the titles against a team that has next to no experience in the ring. Waters and Shore are pretty, but nothing they did looked remotely close to real. Waters in particular looks as if she was missing with every chop in the corner. They desperately need more training.
Sweet Heat cut a promo mocking Waters and Shore after the match and say the match was too easy. They then say they are upset that David doesn’t praise them and they built the tag team division. They make the most money for WOW of anything in the company and they want their titles back. They demand the Tonga Twins.
The Tonga Twins do not show up.
We get a video package for Lana Starr’s Fabulous Four faction.
The Main Event: Penelope Pink (WOW Champion) w/Lana Starr and Vickie Lynn McCoy vs Chantilly Chella
Miami Sweet Heat joins commentary.
Pink attacks before the bell and Chella is able to reverse it and get a few kicks of her own. Pink whips Chella to the turnbuckle. Pink then charges in and Chella gets a boot up. Pink knocks Chella onto the second rope and then gets a sliding German Suplex. Pink celebrates on the outside as Chella recovers and then hits a Thesz press on the floor. Chella tries for a sliding dive, but Pink dodges. They brawl on the outside, and Pink slams Chella into the apron with a flatliner. Chella is rolled into the ring and covers for two.
Chella gets in a series of kicks until Pink drops her and hits a facebuster on her knee. Chella is choked on the second rope and when the ref breaks it up, McCoy keeps up the choke. Pink hits a side backdrop for two. Chella recovers and gets a series of kicks and a meteora. Chella gets a snap mare and a shotgun dropkick for the second turnbuckle. Chella tries for kicks to the head, but Pink blocks them.
Pink then gets a front slam and a Pretty in Pink for two. Chella trips Pink and covers for two. Chella gets a few blows, and follows with a flipping neckbreaker for the pin and the win.
Winner and still WOW Champion: Penelope Pink
