The new promotion Sukeban will premiere this Thursday 9/21 in New York City at Capitale, a venue in lower Manhattan that has never hosted professional wrestling before.
The debut event, featuring all Japanese joshi wrestlers sold out within a few hours. There may be limited tickets released this week, but it was not likely.
Sukeban, which translated into English basically means “boss girl” or “badass girl.” Dream Slam Productions, LLC, the parent company of the group, filed a ton of trademarks on the term back in March of this year. Those behind the promotion has worked as consultants for New Japan Pro Wrestling in the past.
The company has announced the promotion will feature four stables, The Vandals, Harajuku Stars, Cherry Bomb Girls, and Dangerous Liaisons, feud with one another to reach the apex of Sukeban. The contracted roster, signed to long-term deals, includes the following competitors, who will be under unique ring names for copyright and trademark purposes:
