9/9 NJPW ROAD TO DESTRUCTION RESULTS FROM TOKYO, JAPAN

09/09/23 Results from New Japan’s Road to DESTRUCTION From Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:

1 - DOUKI and TAKA Michinoku vs. YOH and Ryusuke Taguchi

YOH pins TAKA after wheelbarrow into a Codebreaker

YOH and Taguchi could be teaming for the upcoming Jr. Tag League.

2 - Shota Umino, Master Wato, Yuji Nagata and Tomoaki Honma vs. Ren Narita, Yuto Nakashima, El Desperado and Minoru Suzuki

Umino pins Nakashima after a Death Rider.

3 - Shane Haste, Mikey Nichols and Bad Dude Tito vs.  Toru Yano, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto

Goto pins Tito after hitting a Shoto.

4 - SHO, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL, with Dick Togo vs.  Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Taichi and SANADA

Kanemaru hurt his knee in the opening moment.  Doctors came running to help.   House of Torture kept attacking Taichi and SANADA.   DOUKI joined the match while Kanemaru was taken to the back.

DOUKI got a big pop and got in some good offense.   

EVIL hits Everything is Evil on DOUKI after Togo interfered with a chair.

EVIL pins DOUKI

House of Torture continued to beat down Just 5 Guys and have the upper hand in this feud.

5 - New Japan World Television Championship:  Satoshi Kojima vs.  Zack Sabre Jr.

Really good match.   

ZSJ forces Kojima to tap out to an arm submission.   

Zack Sabre Jr retains the World Television Title.   He states he wants to end the year with 20 successful defenses. 

6 - NEVER Openweight 6 man Tag Team Championship:  Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Togi Makabe and Tiger Mask vs.  Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tomohiro Ishii and Kazuchika Okada

Ishii hits a brainbuster on Tenzan.  Ishii pins Tenzan.

Tanahashi, Ishii and Okada retain the NEVER Openweight 6-man Titles.

I have notice that this DESTRUCTION Tour has no Bullet Club War Dogs.  New Japan is highlighting factions against each other.   I would expect more storylines to be built during New Japan Strong and the upcoming Tag League series in October.
