AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2023-08-25 23:01:00

It is Friday and this week, AEW Rampage was recorded after AEW Collision from the Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone and Excalibur.

Orange Cassidy (AEW International Champion) vs Aaron Solow

Solow kicks Cassidy as he goes for his pockets, and Cassidy responds with a side headlock takeover. Solow works to his feet and reverses it. Cassidy reverses and takes down Solow again. Cassidy gets another side headlock takeover for a one count. Solow gets a head scissors and Cassoidy works out of it with a headstand, and he then traps Solow’s ankles. Solow works free, and Cassidy is able to get an arm drag and Solow is rolled out of the ring.

They brawl on the floor and Solkow pulls Harley in front of himself to stop an attack from Cassidy. Casdidy gives her the soft kicks and when he pulls back for the big kick, Solow shoots out from behind her and tries to charge into Cassidy who dodges out of the way, and Solow barely stops before colliding with Harley. Cassidy then hits a tope into Solow on the floor.  Solow is rolled into the ring and Harley trips Cassidy while climbing to the top as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Solow and Cassidy try to suplex each other, and Solow ends it with a kick to the midsection. Cassidy is whipped into the corner, and he goes up and over and slams Solow’s head into the turnbuckle multiple times. Cassidy hits a flying crossbody from the top. Cassidy tries for the spinning DDT and Solow blocks it. Solow misses a corkscrew kick and each counters the other’s big move until Cassidy gets the stundog millionaire.

Cassidy is able to get the spinning DDT for two. Casssidy calls for the Superman Punch and Harley starts singing to get his attention. Solow gets a corkscrew kick and a rear backdrop for two. Solow goes to the top and hits a diving double stomp for two. The ref is looking at Solow, who claims an injury, and Harley gets into the ring and takes off one of her boots. Cassidy dodges her attack and she almost hits the ref, so see it.

As the ref is dealing with Harley, Solow uses the boot on Cassidy for two. Cassidy reverses the slam by Solow and they trade quick rollups. Cassidy is able to get the Superman Punch, followed by a beach break for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW International Champion: Orange Cassidy

We then get Jim Ross with QT Marshall and he talks about how QT is now the AAA Latin American Champion, and QT says it is time he gets the respect he deserves. He says everyone says he aligns with people, but they align with him. He is the most professional of professional wrestlers. He says he had to go to another country to become a champion.

He says will defend the title he’s earned with honor and prestige like tonight.

Next is a video to hype CM Punk vs Samoa Joe at All In.

QT Marshall (AAA Latin American Championship) vs Gravity

Johnny TV joins commentary and QT addresses the crowd in Spanish. He and Gravity have words and he mocks Gravity. Gravity slaps him and the match is on.

Gravity hits a series of arm drags and then a dive over the time into QT. They return to the ring and Gravity tries for a flying leap, and QT punches him out of the air. They go back to the floor and Gravity gets a hurricanrana. Gravity then does the slow walk on the apron and tries for another, but QT stops him and hits a power bomb into the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring.

When we come back from picture in picture, Gravity gets in two chops and QT drops Gravity with a chop of his own. Gravity is able to get a spinning inside cradle for two. Gravity gets a casadora for two. Gravity gets a destroyer for two.

QT is able to catch Gravity off the ropes and hits a combination backbreaker sidewalk slam. He tries for a suplex, but Gravity reverses it for two. Gravity hits a series of kicks and then hits a 21 plex for two. QT is up first and hits a short arm lariat. QT puts Gravity on top and calls for the Diamond Cutter, and Gravity pushes him off. QT is on top and Gravity hoists QT in a Fireman’s Carry for a drop from the second turnbuckle to the mat.

Gravity leaps at QT, who turns it into a Diamond Cutter, and then hits a Dirt Sheet Drive for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AAA Latin American Champion: QT Marshall

We then get a video from Dark Order where they pitch their new “We aren’t the bad guys” personas.

Luchasaurus (TNT Champion when Christian Cage Lets Him) vs The Already In The Ring Ren Jones

Ren might as well be Stimpy as he takes a chokeslam and a rear clothesline from Luchasaurus, who gets the pin and the win.

Winner: Luchasaurus

After the rundown for All In, it’s time for our Main Event.

Toni Storm and Saraya vs Hikaru Shida and Britt Baker

All four women are brawling when the bell rings. Baker and Saraya end up as the two in the ring and Baker hits a sling blade. Ruby Soho grabs Baker’s boot, allowing Saraya to take over with strikes. Baker is brought to her corner and they work her over with quick tags. When Baker is knocked to the outside, Soho attacks her, and it’s broken up by Kris Statlander, who runs down to ringside and pulls Soho off Baker. Statlander carries Soho to the back as we go to picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, Baker has been in the ring the whole time and was just tossed to the floor. Saraya and Storm have the title belt and have been taunting Baker with it. Balker is rolled into the ring and they keep up the attack on her. Baker gets a flurry of blows on Storm, and then hits a neckbreaker and both women are down. Baker finally gets the hot tag and Shida cleans house.

The flurry ends when Shida hits a German Suplex on Sarayan onto Storm for a two. Shida and Storm throw hands in the middle of the ring and Shida gets an insigiri. Baker runs into the ring without tagging, and goes after Storm. She misses a rolling elbow strike and Storm gets a belly to back suplex on Baker and tags in Saraya. Saraya takes Baker to her corner and tags Shida so that Baker is the legal woman in the ring. Storm hits a hip attack on Baker and then her and Saraya hit a tandem power slam for two, broken up by Shida.

Each woman hits a kick on an opponent until all four women are down in the ring. Shida is up first and she goes after Storm. Saraya and Baker throw hands at the same time. Shida hits a falcon arrow on Saraya, and Baker follows with a neck breaker for two, broken up by Storm. Baker puts on the glove.  Saraya grabs the ref's leg as Storm brings in the spray paint and nails Shida with it.

Baker hits a thrust kick, sending the spray paint can HIGH in the air. Shida accidentally nails Baker, and Saraya hits the nightcap on Baker for the pin and the win.

Winners: Toni Storm and Saraya

An incredibly messy match where it felt like no one was paying attention to who was legal other than Saraya. The match was filmed after over 5 hours of wrestling and at around 1 am, but that’s no excuse for how poorly things were handled.
