FIGHTT PRO “Rise of Champions”

8/21/23 IWTV.live

Before the show, we have a 30-min sports show style “Round Rundown”. Honestly, I really enjoyed this - ESPECIALLY compared to Episode 0’s draft format. This was tight, well paced and covered a lot of ground in a short time. The interview between Rhett and Logan was also a good bit of interaction ahead of tonight’s main event.

FIGHTT Pro’s PR Consultant Mandy Leon kicks us off to let us know that NO ONE will ruin the integrity of our championship bouts. Interference will result in immediate expulsion from FIGHTT PRO. As for the main event, EVERYONE is banned from ringside in the contest between Rhett Titus and Logan Easton Laroux.

The Monster Factory really does look amazing for this finale. Jason Heat and Pelle Primeau are on commentary. Let’s crown some champions!

Match 1: Golden Era (David Goldy & Brett Waters) vs Primal Fear (Gabriel Hodder and Matthew Omen)

Heat mentions this is the first match of a series FIGHTT will be doing between the various area wrestling schools. Tonight, it’s Skid Row Academy vs Monster Factory. The winners of this match will get a spot in next season’s draft picks. Omen and Wet Brett start things off, quick tag to Hodder and he seems to immediately hurt his shoulder? He already has one shoulder taped up but this is the other one. This could be really bad for Primal Fear. Goldy pushes Hodder off the apron and Omen immediately responds with a punch to the face, drawing a warning. Golden Era working Omen over as it’s practically a two on one now. Omen firing up, big exploder to Brett but Goldy breaks it up to draw another warning. Hodder’s back in it! Double knee to the dome of Goldy and Hodder picks up the W! Primal Fear offers a handshake but Golden Era wants nothing to do with that.

Winners: Primal Fear

Match 2: Tim “Mushmaster” Spriggs (w/ Breaux Keller) vs Delirious

Before last week, this had the potential to be an absolute war….but with Keller nearby, my BS meter is in the red. Avery Good has jumped onto commentary, and Keller follows shortly thereafter. Ring the bell and Delirious immediately jumps at Spriggs, who quickly starts to outwork Delirious on the mat. Spriggs showing off and Delirious is just being run over and controlled. Delirious with a snap suplex and heavy chop. Spriggs returns that but the madman just eats it whole. Tim with a dragon screw and that knee has quickly become a target. Spriggs whips a knee in the corner and Delirious puts the boots to him. Keller being questioned on if he’s willing to sacrifice his spot at FIGHTT Pro to help Tim Spriggs. Spriggs with a slam and backbreaker but isn’t getting the three. Delirious hitting hard chops but Spriggs slams him down with a headlock takeover. Delirious out of the corner with a discus headbutt and Spriggs crumbles…but twitches at just the right moment at two. Spriggs whiffs another corner spot….Delirious with a double knee and going for the kill. Breaux Keller is distracting Delirious from ringside. Victor Benjamin comes from the back and KO’s Keller with a head kick. He wraps a sleeper on him and drags Breaux out the back door as Tim Spriggs slaps on a guillotine choke to Delirious….and the madman has to tap out. Mushmaster is the winner but it looks like Keller has been abducted by Victor Benjamin?!?

Winner: Tim Spriggs

Match 3: The Tonys (Toné Bennett & Tony Leyenda) vs Dawgnation (Sage Matthews & Alan Clayball) (Tag Team Division Championship Match)

Dawgnation are very confident, both as the #1 ranked tag team in the division and as members of the Privileged. Tony Leyenda is clearly struggling with being a face but thankfully, he’s got Bennett there to direct traffic. The crowd is very much behind the Tony’s. Bennett really frustrating Dawgnation early, a combo of slick arm drags and taunting gyrations. Leyenda in to toss Sage around, big delay vertical suplex! Clayball tags in and also gets a delay suplex of his very own. Dawgnation sent flying to the floor and Leyenda press slams Bennett into their opponents….this could have been a warning but TECHNICALLY, Bennett didn’t leave the ring under his own power. Dawgnation quickly takes control and picks up a warning for illegal contact….and it’s worth it. Bennett is getting rolled over as the ref is constantly distracted and missing all this bad behavior. Bennet with a wheelbarrow stunner! Sage cuts off the tag attempt but picks up a violation for punching Leyenda in the face. Double backdrop to Bennet but only a one count. Bennet finally pushes off, tag to Leyenda! Sage tries to hit him from behind….that was a bad idea and Sage is begging for mercy. Huge back body drop! Snap suplex to Clayball for two! Sage jumps in for a double stomp ddt combo….this is their final violation….it’s sudden death for Dawgnation. The Tony’s go for their blockbuster powerbomb….Sage has a chair??? The Tony’s are completely distracted from the pin they had in the bag. In the middle of this, Tim Spriggs slides brass knuckles to Clayball. Leyenda is chasing Sage while Clayball hits a brass knuckled uppercut to drop Bennett for the win. The Privileged are 2-0 on the night. Ernie Osiris and Mandy Leon bring out the tag belts and Dawgnation celebrates their tainted win. Back in the ring, it looks like Leyenda might give up on Bennett….nono, he pulls his partner up and holds his hand high. Dawgnation may be champions….but The Tony’s really just solidified their bond in front of everyone at the Monster Factory.

Winners: Dawgnation

Match 4: Tiny Tinaily vs Gia Scott (Grapplers Division Championship Match)

One wrinkle added to the match tonight: If the match goes longer than ten minutes, pins will become legal. We have 15-minutes on the clock here. Tiny is well loved and clearly ready to start throwing suplexes…but Gia Scott is absolutely presenting like a star in this one. This is one of the best face-off promos. Gia tries to come down to Tiny’s level and that proves to be a bad move, as Tanaily hits a huge spine buster and gut wrench slams. Suplexes for days. Gia grabs an arm and rams it into the post….that’s a warning. Tiny goes for a suplex ride, as Gia Scott is dropping clubs to the back. Hard lariat and she wraps up Tiny’s shoulder and hopes for a submission…Tanaily with an arm drag escape but eats an immediately boot. Gia Scott with a crusher of a ddt and a side Russian….she goes for a last chancery but Tiny reverses it! It doesn’t last…Gia with a hard body slam. Gia grinding her down but Tiny with the takeover….Gia throwing bombs to the back…superkick off the ropes! Straitjacket choke…Tiny fights Gia off and goes for an armbar! Gia with a pump handle but can barely hold her up for the slam. Tiny and Gia throwing hard but Scott wraps another straight jacket hold….the ten-minute mark hits….pins are legal! Tiny with a suplex and immediate pin. Belly to belly….kick out! Tiny firing up….pumphandle samoan drop! Gia fights off a German…..Tiny takes out the knee and climbs on her back with a sleeper. Is Gia Scott going to sleep? Gia kicks off the rope, drawing a violation….but she rolls over the sleeper and gets Tiny’s shoulder down for the three!

Winner: Gia Scott

They give Gia the mic, and she immediate runs down the crowd for not believing in her. They may love and chant for Tiny….but Gia Scott is their champion and they can kiss her a**.

Main Event: Rhett Titus vs Logan Easton Laroux (Hybrid Division Championship Match)

Really good backstage shots of both these guys before they head to the ring for our main event title clash. Logan enters with the rest of the Privileged….but they are barred from ringside so they can f*** right off. Mandy Leon and Ernie Osiris are out here to present the Hybrid Division belt. Mandy and Ernie line up for a main event championship picture….as I’m thinking…why is Prince Nana not at the season finale of his own promotion? Hmmmm…we have a 45-minute timer on this main event clash. Jason Heat is really pumping up Rhett in this fight as being the bridesmaid but never the bride in the wrestling industry. This is his chance. Logan and Rhett are very careful in the opening minutes. Logan has to do this by himself. Lucky for Logan, Rhett’s ribs are clearly still hurting him and a bridge pin escape sends that pain shooting through the Professional. Rhett with a head scissor takedown and squeezes tight. Logan uses his feet to break the hold.A short kick crumbles Rhett and the 1%-er is trying to grind him down. Logan trapped in a straight jacket hold…tossed to the apron. Logan tries to capitalize and rips the arm down on the top rope. Rhett picks up a warning for leaving the ring…this is his SECOND warning all season. Logan seems surprised but doesn’t mind being ahead on violations for once. Rhett tries the dropkick but can’t get it….Monkey flip! He tries for a suplex….Rhett really can’t do much that requires those ab muscles. Rhett grabs the tights of Logan for leverage on a suplex….this is his FIRST VIOLATION of the season! Rhett is hurting and making mistakes. Logan may just have to outlast his opponent for another….37 minutes. Logan back on the ribs but he’s making sure to not violate any rules (for now). Rhett trying to fight back but Logan just decks him in the face and gets warned….this is the s***bag we know. Logan keeping the pressure on, forcing Rhett to stretch and kick out over and over. Titus back in it…forearms to the lower back but he can barely lift Logan through this sequence. He’s hurting himself with every shot to Laroux. Big Boots in the corner! Kick out! Rhett with a Boston crab locked in the center but Logan crawls to the rope as we hit the 15 min mark. Rhett caught up in the corner, Logan sneaks a closed fist in there as the ref breaks them up….Rhett clocks him with a right hand to the face right in front of the ref. This is his SECOND violation! Titus cannot get another violation or he loses everything. Logan with a fireman’s carry kick to the ribs. Corner stomping the chest. Rhett getting whipped to the corner. Laroux trying to stretch him but Rhett kicks free….He can’t make the flip to the top rope. Third try does it! Air ball! Logan with a spear! Three kick outs in a row for Titus! Logan’s winding up that superkick….it’s caught! Rhett with the chicken wing spin slam for two! Rhett goes for another dropkick but Logan decks him in the face again! It’s Logan’s second violation but he survived the dropkick. No more violations for anyone. Logan with 2 superkicks and the Gentrification cutter! This should end it but Rhett says hell no. Trading shots between the lower back and midsection. Trading forearms. Rhett comes running but eats a clothesline! Logan Looks like he’s going for the kill again but he turns right into a dropkick! Logan gets his arms trapped in the ropes. Rhett hits two more dropkicks while Logan is trapped….Laroux crumbs to the mat, out like a light and Rhett has done it!!!

Winner: Rhett Titus

Ernie Osiris is out here to hug his friend Rhett Titus and present the belt. He isn’t letting Mandy Leon take that moment. Shinobi Shadow Squad and Delirious hit the ring to congratulate the new Hybrid champ! Dawgnation and Gia Scottt hit the ring to join Rhett in a champions lineup. These are our Season 1 FIGHTT Pro champions and this is who will stand atop the mountain when Season 2 hits. Rhett encourages everyone to tell everyone they can. FIGHTT Pro will return!

We’re getting a Season Two Preview! Backstage, Ernie Osiris is trying to call Prince Nana but he’s clearly not taking his calls in favor of Mandy Leon. Dan Soden comes up and asks if Ernie is finally with him? Cut to the Goons, they have been multiplying this season. Cut to LSG, having a moment of self-reflection….to get ahead at FIGHTT, you clearly need friends. But LSG is bringing FAMILY. Cut to Victor Benjamin -> He is promising to SAVAGE the Privileged. Cut to SSS, Ryan Mooney is hyping his teammates up…and he is here to stay….and plans to make his impact felt next season. Cut to Savannah Evans….she says Gia Scott is JUST a women and she’s gonna be eaten alive. Cut to Moses. He acknowledges that Rhett Titus beat him in the playoffs….but Moses is ready to climb through bodies to get to him again. Finally, we cut to Logan Easton Laroux, walking away in defeat. “My money. My promotion. What’s next?” He promises to burn FIGHTT PRO to the ground as we end the season.

And that’s it for FIGHTT PRO SEASON ONE! I’ll do a little wrap up article later but for this episode, my pick is firmly on the main event. Rhett and Logan has a long form chess match of a match that could have ended at any time. Logan proved that he CAN in fact fight when he’s left to his own devices….Rhett proved that he can fight just that much better though. This was absolutely the main event boss fight final battle that we’ve been working towards all season. All the other stories told tonight were good too -> Gia Scott is really coming into her own as a character. The Tony’s solidified their partnership, even in defeat. The Privileged ALMOST made a clean sweep of the night. But again, there is so much more story to tell here. And that’s coming next season! Til then!
