IS WWE SUPERSTAR SPECTACLE GOING TO BE A BROADCAST EVENT?

By Mike Johnson on 2023-08-22 14:01:00

For those who have asked, the current plan for the WWE Superstar Spectacle at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India on Friday 9/8 is for it to be a live event, not a television broadcast.

We have been told by multiple WWE sources that as it stands, the event will not be streaming live on the WWE Network or Peacock.

It is possible they decision could be made to air locally in India, we haven't heard that is the plan, and internally within WWE, it's just a live event.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, John Cena, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER, Jinder Mahal, Veer, Sanga, Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Matt Riddle, Ludwig Kaiser and Odyssey Jones are all locally advertised for the event.

WWE produced a TV special designed specifically for the Indian market, also titled The Superstar Spectacular, timed for Republic Day in January 2021.  The company had been slated to run there in January 2022 with a Smackdown brand house show but delayed the event in part due to the merger of several television broadcast companies,  Sony and Zee.  Sony Sports Network is WWE's broadcast partner in India.
