The Daytona Beach Journal covered Tammy Sytch's plea deal and court hearing in Florida yesterday. Here are some notes from their coverage:
*Sytch, sporting grey hair, stated before the court that she had been diagnosed with PTSD.
*At the time of the car incident, Sytch had had a blood alcohol content of .280, which is 3.5 times the legal limit of .08 set by Florida law. THC was also detected in her blood, indicating she had used marijuana before the crash. There was an unsealed bottle of vodka found in her car.
*Sytch must serve, at minimum four years' imprisonment. The maximum she could be sentenced is 25 and half years.
*Sytch's public defenders intend to call "one or possible two experts to testify on behalf of Sytch at the sentencing" this November.
*The family of the victim Julian Lasseter, a 75-year old grandfather, were in attendance yesterday but declined to comment to the media.
*The report ended noting, "One of Lasseter's friends, Lori Sharlow, said that Sytch was a threat to the public and she hoped that she would be kept off the streets."
