8/10 NJPW G1 CLIMAX RESULTS, HOW YOU CAN HELP THOSE IN MAUI AND MORE

8/10/23 Quarter Finals Results from the G1 Climax 33, Final Four are determined Chiba, Japan:

1 - Kosei Fujita, Shane Haste and Mikey Nicholls vs. Yota Tsuji, Hiromu Takahashi and Shingo Takagi

Hiromu pins Fujita after a Time Bomb.

2 - Shota Umino, El Phantasmo, Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Minoru Suzuki, El Desperado and Ren Narita

ELP pin Tenzan after Sudden Death.  

Narita and Umino continue their rivalry and brawl after the match.

3 - Gabe Kidd, Alex Coughlin, Chase Owens and KENTA vs. DOUKI, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, TAKA Michinoku and Taichi

Kidd hits a punch to TAKA's face.   

Kidd pins TAKA.

4 - Great O-Khan, Jeff Cobb and HENARE vs. Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Eddie Kingston

Kingston pins HENARE after a spinning back fist.

Kingston hugs Tanahashi and Ishii after the match.   He is enjoying his time in New Japan.

Quarter Finals of the  G1 Climax 33:

5 - Tetsuya Naito (D Block 1st Place) vs. Hikuleo (A Block 2nd Place), with Jado.

Solid match.  Naito reverses out of a Chokeslam and hits a Destino.   Naito hits a second Destino and gets the pin.

Tetsuya Naito moves to the semifinal and will face the winner of either David Finlay and Will Ospreay.

6 - David Finlay (C Block 1st Place), with Gedo vs. Will Ospreay (B Block 2nd Place)

War Dogs, Kidd and Coughlin, come to the ring with Finlay.

Cobb and O-Khan accompany Ospreay.

Good match.  Until Ospreay goes for a Leap of Faith and Finlay pulls the referee in to take the bump.   War Dogs interfere.  United Empire jumps in the ring.  Big brawl.  United Empire takes out the War Dogs.   Finlay and Ospreay exchange reversals.  Ospreay hits the Hidden Blade and Stormbreaker.

Ospreay pins Finlay.

Will Ospreay will face Tetsuya Naito in the Semifinals.

7 - SANADA (A Block 1st Place) vs. EVIL (C Block 2nd Place), with Dick Togo

EVIL reverses out of Dead Fall and hits Everything is Evil.

EVIL pins SANADA

Wow!  EVIL pinned the IWGP World Champion.   Big win, even if he does win the G1, EVIL will have a title match soon.

EVIL will face the winner between Kazuchika Okada and Zack Sabre Jr.

8 - Kazuchika Okada (B Block 1st Place) vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (D Block 2nd Place)

Another good match.   Okada hits the Rainmaker and pins ZSJ.

Okada will face EVIL in the second semifinal match on Saturday.

Collectively, these four Quarter Final matches were the best wrestling in this whole tournament.   Please watch this event on New Japan World if you are able.

You may be aware of the news of the wildfires in Hawaii, specifically on the island of Maui, my home.   Fires spread due to high winds caused by Hurricane Dora.  The fires have destroyed homes in different parts of the island.  The town of Lahaina, the original Capital City in Hawaii, has been devastated by these fires.  Lahaina is large tourist area and many guests are being re-routed out of the town or back to the airport.   Several residential subdivisions have been destroyed.  The police, fire department, Red Cross, National Guard and Coast Guard are doing their best to assist those in need.  Many families are homeless and people are still missing.

Generally, people think of Hawaii as a paradise and tourist destination.   However, there are families on Maui who struggle to survive within an expensive economy in Hawaii.
