LOTS OF NEWS & NOTES FROM THE GATHERING IV IN CHARLOTTE, NC

I've been in Charlotte, NC the last few days for the fourth annual Gathering convention presented by T-Mart Promotions at the Charlotte University Hilton, which as always has proven to be a pretty relaxing, wonderful event.  

A few notes from the convention:

*The annual banquet dinner honoring a number of stars was nothing short of excellent with Maven Huffman doing a great job hosting and a lot of nice speeches up and down with Princess Victoria honoring The Glamour Girls, Ricky Morton honoring Tommy Rich, Terri Runnels honoring the late Brian Pillman, Gerald Brisco honoring Greg Gagne, Bobby Fulton honoring Bill Dundee, Steve Keirn honoring The Killer Bees and Larry Zbyszko as the headline honoree.

*Former IWCCW star Vic Steamboat, who last wrestled in 1999, was in attendance alongside his brother, Ricky Steamboat, who was doing a signing appearance.

*The word making the rounds at the convention was that Bill Dundee, who was too ill to attend, underwent a medical procedure this weekend.  Our best to him.

*Ken Resnick, who routinely handles the annual banquet and hosts Q&As, was unable to attend. Our best wishes to him.

*Kevin Sullivan made the trip to the convention despite having thrown out his back in a major way and was obviously in massive pain over the last several days.

*The legendary Frank Dusek made his first ever signing appearance at a convention.  Brett Wayne Sawyer also made a rare appearance.

*George South has released a new edition of his book The Last Rassler.

VIP signings announced for the rest of the weekend:

Today August 5th at 1 PM: The Barbarian, Manny Fernandez, Big Mama, Ray Apollo (The final WWF Doink the Clown), The Rock N' Roll Express, Tim Horner, Tommy Rich.

Sunday August 6th at 11 AM: Kurt Angle, The Headbangers, Maven, Gangrel, The Godfather, Ahmed Johnson, Terri Runnels.

There will be a Starrcade '85: The Gathering panel with Magnum TA, The Barbarian, Baby Doll, Manny Fernandez, Big Mama and more this afternoon.
