THE WWE SUMMERSLAM 2023 TIP SHEET

Welcome to my SummerSlam blog.

The show opened with Kid Rock introducing the show.  I will be honest, given his feelings towards people different than him, I didn’t watch what he had to say.  I like everyone.  The world would be a better place if we didn’t hate people that didn’t think differently than we do, but I will get off of my soap box.

We are opening with Logan Paul vs. Ricochet, which Mike Johnson reported earlier today.  You announcers are the in-demand Michael Cole and Corey Graves. As an aside, props to Cole for being so important to the brand that Endeavor and the TV partners know they need him on both shows.  I am sure the goal is to create the next guy but right now it doesn’t appear to be Kevin Patrick.  I hope he is an eager learner and will get the message that he needs to hear, he needs to keep growing.  My advice?  Be like Cody Rhodes.  When they tell you no, make them say yes.

Paul is in control early, including messing with Ricochet’s fiancé Samantha Irvin.  As usual, Paul’s stuff is really good.  He just did a running powerslam to mock Braun Strowman.  Cerebral stuff.

They just did spots that defy gravity and I have no idea how Richard will describe.  These two guys move in ways that normal human beings shouldn’t be able to move.

Paul got the first cover that I remember but Ric kicked out.  This is super athletic.  Now it’s time to start telling a story. 

And they started that with a sick flying neckbreaker spot from the top.  Ric is up first.  He may be getting momentum.  Yes, he is. 

Ric had a pin attempt and when it didn’t work he told Paul he wanted him to kick out.  Hope that isn’t a mistake. 

Paul did a moonsault, Ric caught him, but Paul his a tornado DDT.  Thus dude is insane,  He obviously loves this.  This has a lot of spottiest in it but when the spots are this good, well if it’s just one match I am OK with it.

Ric did a Shooting Star but landed in Paul’s knees.  Ric is selling the ribs.  Paul hit an insane springboard frog splash.  The dude is nuts.  The story is that Ric keeps kicking out.

Ric did some crazy athletic stuff but only got a two.  Ric missed the 630.  One of Paul’s stooges then put brass knux on Logan and he hit Ricochet in the face to win the match.  Cole said, “That was a great match up but the ending sucked”.  Yep, he said it perfectly. At the end of the day, I have to think it was done to have Ricochet right the wrong that was done to him.

These two are not human.  It was a spot fest but I was fine with that since these two are not human.  I liked it as an opener.  It has to be the only spotfest of the night and I think it will be.

Sheamus just showed up in a big ass monster truck.
