SECOND SET OF RAMPAGE SPOILERS AND LIVE THOUGHTS FROM DYNAMITE 200

By Richard Trionfo on 2023-08-02 23:50:00

I was in attendance at AEW Dynamite 200 in Tampa, Florida.  Here is what happened after Dynamite ended:

Tony Khan came out and talked about Dynamite 200.  He then brought out Chris Jericho who addressed the crowd.  Then they brought out AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman.  MJF talked about how in 2019 there was only one place to make money in professional wrestling, the WWE.  He talked about what possible names he would have if he went to WWE and some gimmicks that they would probably give him based on his religion.  Then he talked about Tony Khan and AEW.  He mentioned the Elite and others involved with AEW at the beginning, and said that AEW was a place where people could be the version of themselves that they wanted to be.  He thanked Tony for that opportunity and paying him a lot of money.  MJF started to talk about 2024, but moved on and said that there were other people who wanted to thank Tony.

The roster came out to the stage.

Tony then thanked everyone.

Rampage Spoilers:

Match Number One:  Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, and Keith Lee defeated Butcher, Blade, and Kip Sabian when Jeff pinned Sabian after a Swanton.

Match Number Two:  AR Fox and Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana) defeated Jordan Cruz and Tyshawn Perez.

Match Number Three:  Anna Jay (with Matt Menard and Angelo Parker) defeated Skye Blue.

The other match announced for Rampage was the Blackpool Combat Club versus Best Friends in a Parking Lot Brawl in Jacksonville that was obviously not taped in Tampa.

Random Thoughts on the Show (more detailed thoughts will be on an upcoming audio)

The building looked full for the areas that tickets were sold for.

Despite the size of the crowd being smaller than other television tapings in Central Florida, the crowd was loud through most of the show.

Biggest pops were for Chris Jericho, MJF, Rob Van Dam, and The Hardys.

Mark Davis cut a promo before the ROH Tag Title Match against Komander and El Hijo del Vikingo where he talked about how they were the greatest tag team in the world.

Despite one move in the Tag Title Match, I thought that was the best match of the night.

The crowd popped for Walk when Van Dam came out.

There was a decent amount of the crowd that left during the main event of Dynamite and pockets of people would leave throughout Rampage.

The breaks during the show did not seem to last as long as ones for a WWE taping so there weren't a lot of awkward breaks

Before the show started, Christian came out and as a heel, and a resident of the greater Tampa area, had to insult the Tampa sports teams.  Being from Toronto made his shots on the Lightning for losing to the Maple Leafs better.  He also ran down the Rays and Buccaneers and pointed out that he is the only Champion in "Champa Bay".

After Christian talked about how dissatisfied he was being at the show, Tony Khan, who was on the stage during the promo said that he disagrees with everything that Christian said.

Of all of the AEW shows that I have attended (a handful of PPVs and two Dynamite tapings), I have never had a bad experience at the show.  The crowds are always lively and make it more of an experience than attending a television taping.

With the relative distance between the cities, I think it would be nice if AEW tried to do a circuit one time of Dynamite in Orlando or Tampa, Collision in the other city, and an ROH PPV in Lakeland.

I would highly recommend going to an AEW TV taping if you are a fan of wrestling.  One of the people in the group I was sitting with had never attended an AEW show before and he had a good time and would probably attend another show in the area.
