OKADA VS. KENTA AND MORE: 8/1 NJPW G1 CLIMAX RESULTS

From Kagawa, Japan:

1 - Hikuleo vs. Kaito Kiyomiya

Hikuleo pins Kiyomiya after a Chokeslam.

Big win for Hikuleo.   Both are tied for the second place with 6 points.  

2 - YOSHI-HASHI vs. Great O-Khan

O-Khan pinned YOSHI-HASHI after a pop-up Eliminator.

Both O-Khan and YOSHI-HASHI at 4 points, are out of the semifinals for the G1.

3 - Ren Narita vs. Chase Owens

Narita taps out Owens with the Cobra Twist.

Narita and Owens with 4 points each are out of the semifinals of the A Block.

4 - Taichi vs El Phantasmo

ELP hits Sudden Death and pins Taichi with a Gedo Clutch.

Both ELP and Taichi have 6 points which each puts a slim chance for the semifinals.   Both will be eliminated if Okada and Ospreay win their matches tonight.

5 - SANADA vs. Gabe Kidd

Kidd comes out first and destroys guardrails and terrorizes the fans.  No sneak attacks.

SANADA pins Kidd after a Dead Fall.

SANADA has locked up first place in the A Block.  Umino, Hikuleo and Kiyomiya are battling for the second place spot.

6 - Tanga Loa vs. Will Ospreay

Good match.   Tanga battered Ospreay outside the ring.   The referee started a double count out.  Tanga hit a spear on Ospreay at the 18 count.   Tanga rolls in the ring.  Ospreay gets counted out.

Tanga Loa wins by count out.

Big upset!   But Tanga Loa (6 points) still trails Ospreay (8 points).   

7 - Shota Umino vs. Yota Tsuji

With less than a minute left, Tsuji hits a spear on Umino and gets the pin.

The younger wrestlers in the A Block have stayed relative even with matches ending in draws and staying close in terms of points earned.   New Japan has made the entire A Block look strong throughout the tournament.

8 - Kazuchika Okada vs. KENTA

Good stiff match.  Referee bumps and KENTA beats on Okada with a kendo stick.  Okada hits a shotgun dropkick.   Okada tosses the kendo stick to the floor and throws another dropkick.  They exchange reversals.  Okada hits two Landslides and a Rainmaker.

Okada pins KENTA.

Okada remains at the top of the B Block with Ospreay in second place.
