IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2023-07-27 22:00:00

Welcome to the Impact Wrestling on AXS TV report!

After a recap of everything that brought us to tonight, we went right to the action:

Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Trinity & Subculture's Dani Luna vs The Coven.

Trinity and Luna looked strong early, controlling King until she nailed Luna in the ropes.  Luna was worked over for a long period of time before getting the hot tag to the champ.  Trinity hit some hot moves before scoring the pin on Taylor Wilde after a sit-out powerbomb variation.

Your winners, Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Trinity & Subculture's Dani Luna!

This was OK.

Deonna Purrazzo came to the ring and declared she would get her rematch against Trinity at the 8/27 Emergence PPV.

Backstage, X-Division Lio Rush was being asked why he would work with Bully Ray by Moose and Brian Myers when Bully Ray showed up.  He warned Lio that he would either be on his side or against him and he had until the end of the night to tell him.

Dirty Dango revealed Johnny Bravo was now Alpha Bravo.   Great to see Bravo with a new role.

Loser Leaves Town: Johnny Swinger vs. Zicky Dice

They have to fight or else.  They acted like they didn't want to but immediately turned on each other when Dice tried to legitimately roll up Swinger.  Dice slammed Swinger and parodied the Ric Flair retirement match.  Swinger rolled out and pretended he wanted to be counted out, so he could sacrifice himself for Dice.  He offered Dice the chance to ride Swinger's Wrestlemania 3 parody cart to the ring but when Dice took him up on it, Swinger attacked with a clothesline and pinned Dice with his feet on the ropes.

Your winner, Johnny Swinger!

This was entertaining.

Santino Marella announced Impact Wrestling Digital Media Champion Kenny King vs. Joe Hendry vs. Yuya Uemura for next week.

Gisele Shaw (with Jai Vidal & Savannah Evans) vs. Masha Slamovich (with Killer Kelly)

They went right after each other with some nice aggression and intensity.  They battled on the floor.  Gisele went for a running knee but missed and was drilled with a spinning kick.  Masha went for the Snow Plow but Jai Vidal distracted her.  Kelly nailed her but was attacked by Savannah Evans.  Shaw drilled Masha with the Denoument and scored the pin.

Your winner, Gisele Shaw!

This was really damn good.

They aired a video package on the returning Jake Something.

Frankie Kazarian had to stop Traci Brooks from going after Alisa Edwards backstage.

The Time Splitters, Impact Wrestling Champion Alex Shelley & KUSHIDA vs Moose & Brian Myers.

Moose controlled KUSHIDA early.  Shelley and KUSHIDA nailed their signature moves on Myers, who powdered out.   Shelley followed him to the floor but was attacked by Moose.  Myers worked over Shelley who came back to score several two counts.  Bully Ray attacked Shelley. Josh Alexander hit the ring but Lio Rush hit the ring and joined in the attack.  Chris Sabin hit the ring for the save and drilled Lio with a superkick.

Alan Angels called out Heath Miller in a promo.

Zach Wentz (with Trey Miguel) vs. Speedball Mike Bailey

Very good action early on.  Bailey scored with a series of kicks, garnering several two counts.  Trey distracted Bailey, allowing Wentz to attack him and drilled him outside on the apron.  The referee ejected Miguel from ringside, which allowed Wentz to spray Bailey in the face with spraypaint and DDT him for the pin.

Your winner, Zach Wentz!

Eric Young vs. Nick Aldis

They went right at each other.   Aldis nailed Young with a clothesline.  Young came back to nail a leaping forearm smash and a belly to belly suplex for a two count.  Young went to the top for a flying elbow but Aldis caught him there and they battled on the top.  Aldis nailed a superplex followed by a Michinoku Driver for a two count.  Aldis cinched in the Cloverleaf  but Young battled his way to the ropes.  Young caught Aldis as he went for a figure four and nailed a piledriver for the pin.

Your winner Eric Young!

This was a solid, good bout.  Aldis exited strong.

Dean and Kon attacked Young and left him laying as they went off the air.
