Variety reported this afternoon that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson made a personal seven figure donation to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, a non-profit associate of the samely named union that assists members in time of need.
With the vast majority of Hollywood film and television productions shut down with no end in sight due to the current SAG-AFTRA strike, the donation will be used to assist members via the foundation’s Emergency Financial Assistance Program.
Johnson's donation, the total of which is being kept confidential, could help upwards of at least 7,000 thousand that require assistance over the course of the strike. it was the largest single donation ever to the fund.
The Rock began acting while working for WWE with his first film being The Mummy Returns, where he portrayed The Scorpion King in 2001.
