AEW COLLISION REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2023-07-22 20:21:00

It is Saturday and AEW Collision is live at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Our commentary team is Ian Riccaboni and Nigel McGuinness.

Once again, the show starts with short promos by everyone involved in tonight’s shows.

We start up with Tony Schiavone interviewing Ricky Starks. The announcers point out his cheating and the disrespect he showed to Jushin “Thunder” Liger after winning the cup. Ricky has brought out a bag and he says there is nothing in it, it’s just an expensive bag. He says the controversy doesn’t matter, and anyone else would do the exact same thing. He says don't talk to him about right and wrong, talk to him about how stylish he is.

Starks says no one compares to him. He stands on his own and at that point, CM Punk comes to the ring without music.

Mixed reaction for Punk.

Punk says he isn’t mad at Starks, but he is a little mad at himself. He’s proud of Ricky. He says he can’t pretend he hasn’t cheated, and the people of New Jersey haven’t cheated. He knocks the local sports team. Punk says he can live with the loss, but can Ricky live with the win, knowing he can’t beat Punk without cheating.

Ricky says his bag is as empty as the bag Punk is carrying, which brings Punk back to the ring. Punk asks if he wants what’s in the bag or is he like Max and just doesn’t want him to have it.

Christian Cage and Luchasaurus show and Cage says they are contractually required to be there, and this is taking too long. Cage then calls the crowd sweathogs and asks what kind of man carries a championship he didn’t win.

Cute.

And then Darby Allin shows.

Darby says that he will win the TNT title, and says why don’t they have a tag match of him and Punk vs Ricky and Cage.

Tony Schiavone says Tony Khan has set it up for the main event.

We get footage that Andrade El Idolo has not been allowed into the building.

Action Andretti and Darius Martin vs Jay White and Juice Robinson w/The Gunns

Jay and Darius start out, and Jay forces them into the corner where Jay works over Darius. Juice tags in and they whip Darium into the ropes, but set too soon, so Darius gets a kick on Juice and tosses Jay to the floor. Darius hits a drop kick, and Adretti is tagged in and they double team Juice in the corner. Andretti gets a corkscrew cross body from the top for two. He then leaps off the ropes for an arm drag.

This sets off the tag team siren and all four men are in the ring. When it clears out, Juice gets a suplex and a sidekick. Jay is tagged in and they keep Andretti in their coroner with quick tags, including a draping neckbreaker off the apron. Much shorter than I thought it would be, and the House of Black was utterly dominant. Afterwards, Black gives Gunn a hug and they leave without a beat down.

He tells Cole not to trust him, and they aren’t going to beat FTR.

Dax says when he was 15 his dad told him to get a job. He says rich kids made fun of him for having a job, and he said if he had a chance, he'd crack them in the face. And he says it’s l8ike MJF and Cole taking the match as a joke that bothers him. Next week, they will keep their titles.
