GEORGE SOUTH MAKES NYC WRESTLING DEBUT

By Mike Johnson on 2023-07-16 16:59:00

This past Friday 7/14, longtime wrestling veteran George South, who first wrestled back in 1984 and was a signature undercard performer for Jim Crockett Promotions, wrestled for the first time in New York City as part of Game Changer Wrestling's return to The Melrose Ballroom in Queens.

While South had wrestled for Crockett in Long Island at the Nassau Coliseum and in White Plains, NY in Westchester, he had never performed once over the course of his long career within the five Boroughs of NYC.

South wrestled Mance Warner and came out brandishing a barbed wire bat, arguing that the fans in NYC smelled just as bad as fans in Long Island did 30 years ago.  After knocking the fans for some time, Warner snatched the ring mic away, kicking off the match.

16 minutes later, Warner scored the pin with a rollup after nailing South in the mid-section with his own barbed wire bat.

There is no word if or when South will return to NYC to avenge his loss.
