FIGHTT PRO Round 5

7/11/23 - IWTV.live

To kick off this week, we’ve got some unfortunate news coming out of the Tag Team Division but a VERY interesting new wrinkle for the Premier Contender Gauntlet -

Our customary reminder of the rules at play:

And here’s the rankings as of this week:

The Goons are outside protesting because Myles Millennium isn’t in the hybrid division and the Goons are t in the tag division. They are chanting about “Bernie” as Ernie Osiris comes through and puts them in their place. Ernie is running the show tonight. Nana isn’t around for their foolishness AND the Goons aren’t even booked tonight!

We go to the aren and we’re in a new venue this week! It’s the Worldwide Wrestling Dojo! Rhett Titus is in the ring to announce that his opponent Moses couldn’t be here…but he also has unfinished business with Logan Easton Laroux. He’s less than pleased with how Laroux attacked Delirious last week….so he’s planning to HURT him.

Backstage video promos with Myles Hawkins & Ryan Mooney. They’ve both pretty annoyed for not being drafted into the hybrid division….but the Rabid Honey Badger has Cheeseburger on his side for this one. Who is getting a spot tonight?

Jason Heat and Pelle Primeau are on commentary tonight. Let’s get this started!

Match 1: Myles Hawkins vs Ryan Mooney (w/ Cheeseburger) (Alternate Elevation Bout)

Who is getting the spot in the Hybrid Division??? Hard lockup, Hawkins just confident shoves Mooney off. Mooney firing up but Myles is just disrespecting him. Mooney stops the momentum in the ropes and unloads hard chops into the 99.  Quick dropkick almost puts Hawkins away. Hawkins dives over the top to hot shot Mooney into the top rope…he picks up a warning for this but it might have been worth it. Mooney trying to fire up but Hawkins is staying on him, trying to yank the neck from Mooney’s body. Honey Badger biting to escape and picks up a warning. Mooney with a codebreaker! Sunset flip buckle bomb! Kick out! Hawkins with a huge falcon arrow for two! back and forth pin attempts…honey Badger with a flapjack and a running knee puts Hawkins gets the three! He’s officially part of the Hybrid Division!

Winner: Ryan Mooney (3pts)

Match 2: Tony Leyenda & Anthony Bennett vs Lost Boyz (Junie Underwood & Athan Promise)

Leyenda is looking to get this team into the win column this week, after dropping their first match to a team that isn’t ever here anymore. Bennett is already annoying Leyenda by stealing the promo from his partner and making him hold his cocktail. The crowd is very vocal in their disdain for Leyenda and Bennett. Promise lighting Leyenda up with kicks but the big man is just eating them. Promise finally stuns him with a flurry and the Lost Boyz are on a roll….cue a double suplex from Tony and the Lost Boyz actually pick up a warning for the double teaming they were doing. Bennett in and trying to pick up the scraps Leyenda left him but he’s still too focused on having a good time. Leyenda tags in an torturing Athan with whips and a BK huge backbreaker, taunting Underwood’s inability to help his partner. Bennet and Leyenda have their first major miscommunication and Junie gets tagged in. Quick tag to Leyenda, crucifix bomb to Junie on the way out, Leyenda hits a side effect and they get the pin! Bennet finally has points in FIGHTT PRO!

Winners: The Tonys (3pts)

Back outside with the Goons, they attack a fan who decides to cross their picket line. And now we have an update on Breaux Keller!

Match 3: Gia Scott vs Harleen Lopez (Grappler’s Division)

It’s a double debut tonight! The crowd starting to boo Gia early… but she is massively confident. This was a GOOD face off. Gia powers her right back onto her head and to the mat. Lopez is quickly needing to figure out what she needs to do…and hits a Wrestling takedown and just starts blasting kicks to the chest. Gia firing right back with hard forearms. Lopez with a quick octopus stretch…Gia muscles free of it! Lopez powers out of a bow and arrow…double knees and a cannonball into the corner! She pulls Gia into a crossface! Gia is screaming…she rolls free and boots Harleen. She wraps up a armbar/choke combo…Harleen has to tap. This was really good.

Winner: Gia Scott (3pts)

Backstage with Ryan Mooney. He’s overcome with emotion by making it into the hybrid division. Cheeseburger is out here and so happy for his friend, partner and trainee. But he’s got a hurt hand…so he offers to put his spot in the Hybrid Division on the line against another of his students - Miles Penn.

Back outside with the Goons. They are bored. The Tonys come out the door and the Goons are upset that THEY are in the tag team division. Ernie Osiris is out here because the cops got called. He makes the Goons a tag match with the Tonys next week. They are in the division???

Match 4: Logan Easton Laroux vs Rhett Titus

On week five, we are getting a #1 vs #2 ranked contest in the hybrid division! This is personal for Rhett but Logan just sees 4 potential points to get closer to the title belt. Titus grabs the mic, he’s fired up, he’s mad and ready to hurt Logan. Logan….forfeits. He just quits during the face off. What?

Winner: Rhett Titus (2pts)

Logan smiles as he walks off. Ernie Osiris is furious at this turn of events. He calls Price Nana for advice but there’s nothing to be done right now. Rhett gets two points but he gets no satisfaction from it. This was a good out for now but I think this HAS TO happen before the season wraps.

Main Event: Victor Benjamin vs Breaux Keller (Premier Contender’s Division)

Friends collide in our main event tonight. Can Breaux be the one to put Benjamin down or is he going out on his shield tonight? Keller goes for the handshake, it’s legit. Victor throwing some kicks to gauge his distance but Keller is staying out of danger. Breaux caught and double arm taken over. This is very start and stop for the first few minutes. Victor trying to land hard but not punch himself out. Breaux is clearly trying to stay out of danger and hope he can wear down the larger man. Victor gets the overarm hooks in again, Keller escapes and hits a high cross body! Victor stunned but he tosses Keller again and is trying to rip the wings off this fly. Slick transition to a cross armbreaker, Keller fighting free but Victor flips to the top…and picks up a warning for a closed fist to the face as he drops bombs in the mount. Victor going for this overarm lock over and over….but Keller can still hit a brain buster so I’m wondering how effectively this is. Basement dropkick for two! Keller keeping on a staggered Victor Benjamin, hard kicks…but the Savage Gentlemen starts landing heavy shots to the head and body. Back to the arm hold, Keller told it up? Kick out! Huge clothesline! Victor with that arm hook again…Keller launches him out to the apron! Victor lands a flurry of knees to the body…Keller hits a slingshot stunner and they both crash to the concrete! Keller gets Victor back in but the Savage Gentlemen catches him up top and sending him flying with a slam! Did Benjamin almost KO himself with that??? Both guys up but they are hurting. Victor whiffs a knee, Keller drops him…huge pendulum dropkick takes Victor’s air! Backstabber! Kick out! Keller tries a lungblower but Victor blasts him…but they’re too close to the ropes…Benjamin going for the kill shot but he opts to not drop that bomb. Keller pops up with a huge gutbuster and X factor! These are his biggest shots and Benjamin kicks out of both. Keller tries to hop off the buckles but Victor uppercuts him right in the gut…it’s ALMOST a low blow but not quite. He takes the double arm hook again and hits a powerslam out of the corner. He traps him in almost a reverse cattle mutilation…but Keller is limp and the ref counts the three!

Winner: Victor Benjamin

As Keller leaves, Dawg Nation runs into the ring and stomps out Victor! Keller runs back to even the odds! It looks like a fair fight but Keller hits an uppercut to the groin on Benjamin. It was a setup! Logan Easton Laroux is out here now and Ernie Osiris is furious. What IS going on? Logan reveals that he made a deal with Prince Nana…and he can have a Premier Contenders match ANY TIME he wants. This explains the forfeit! Uh oh….he hands over a contract to Osiris…Victor Benjamin is angered and says he’ll fight everyone. Osiris apologizes but says Benjamin has to fight or forfeit. The ref refuses to call this match. We got a new ref. Osiris is exasperated but he is letting this happen.

Main Event 2: Victor Benjamin vs Logan Easton Laroux (Premier Contenders Match)

Victor looking hurt, he had a LONG match just now…and a crotch shot. Benjamin comes running….Logan hits the Gentrification cutter! Kick out! Benjamin tries to trap a rear naked choke but Logan picks up a warning for taking the eyes. Logan tosses Victor out of the ring, steps out (picking up a violation) and posts Benjamin (getting another violation). The ref is admonishing Logan for his actions…as Breaux Keller blasts Victor with brass knuckles and rolls him into the ring. One more Gentrification cutter later and Logan gets the three count. The commentary team is apologizing for Easton’s actions as we fade to black.

Winner: Logan Easton Laroux

Cut to the office where Rhett Titus is upset with Osiris for letting this all happen. Ernie understands Rhett’s anger but he can’t get Nana on the phone. He can’t give Rhett Logan…but he CAN give him Breaux Keller next week. Titus will take what he can get.

Lots of story beats happening on the show tonight but the star of the show was the angle of Logan Laroux, escaping punishment in the Hybrid Division and staking his claim atop the Premier Fighter’s Gauntlet. This has been setting up for a while now and the turn with Keller didn’t really look obvious UNTIL we were right on it. Apart from the Grappler’s Division, every match had a real story coming in and out of the contest. That said, I REALLY liked the match between Gia Scott and Harleen Lopez -> A double debut can be tough but they both went for it in this match, so it’s getting my FOTN honors this week. That said, the whole of this show is prolly worth a look (and is honestly a good starting point if you missed the first few weeks). The change to Worldwide Dojo is cool and it’s clear the crowd is more vocal/energetic here. Looking forward to the how the next few weeks go….and how Logan is going to stay atop the Premier Division. Until next week!
