DON KING, TIMOTHY THATCHER HEALTH UPDATE AND MORE MLW POST-NEVER SAY NEVER UPDATES

By Mike Johnson on 2023-07-10 17:29:00

Some MLW News and Notes coming out of this past weekend's Never Say Never PPV, which is now available for VOD replays on FITE+:

The ending to Tracy Williams vs. Timothy Thatcher was a legitimate stoppage due to Thatcher suffering a concussion.  Thatcher was examined by the on-site medical team and was OK after.

MLW is absolutely thrilled with the reaction to the Don King reveal with the legendary boxing promoter as the backer of The Bomaye Fight Club.  Sources within the promotion claimed there was a huge surge in website traffic, brought on partially by the boxing media jumping on the story as King, now 91 years old, doesn't do much these days.  MLW sources are adamant that King will be popping up more and this was not a one-off appearance.  They already have plans to shoot more with King in the next few weeks.  "It's all locked in," claimed one source.

Alex Kane, who was ascended to the position of MLW Champion was the most over on the event, as was the Bomaye Fight Club.  The promotion sold out of their t-shirts at the 2300 Arena this past Saturday.

The next MLW PPV on FITE+ will sart at 6 PM EST on 9/3 in order to avoid conflicting with the AEW All Out PPV in Chicago that same night.

One source noted this past Saturday was probably the biggest walk-up audience they've ever had in Philly.

The promotion and FITE were both happy with Never Say Never which ended almost exactly to the planned minute.
