The Associated Press reported today that The FDA, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, has been called upon to investigalte PRIME, the energy drink backed by WWE's Logan Paul, who has made the brand massively popular.
Sen. Charles Schumer has called upon the FDA for an investigation in how the drink is marketed as it contains as much caffeine as six cans of Coca-Cola. While the brand is marketed for 18 and above, Schumer contends that a separate drink, the caffeine-free PRIME Hydration from the same company, is not marketed differently enough from the energy drink, creating confusion among parents who might believe PRIME is appropriate for their children. Schumer also argues the marketing is tempting to children.
The PRIME brand was front and center during Paul's Wrestlemania bout against Seth Rollins earlier this year as Paul's fellow YouTube personality and co-founder of the Energy Drink KSI was costumed as the PRIME brand's bottle.
