Wrestling Open - “Summer Stunner”

6/29/23 - Worcester, MA

The second edition of Wrestling Open’s “Summer Stunner” is here! We have a huge title match in our main event, the second Open Door War, as well as a LOT of rivalries coming to a head tonight.

In the spotlight match, Big Buisness’ Brick City defeated The Love Dogs (Love Doug & Johnny Rivera) to advance in the first round of the Saturn & Kronos Eliminator Cup Tournament. TBH, this was a weird choice for a spotlight match that isn’t on the VOD. Let’s hope it makes it to next week’s broadcast OR to Youtube asap.

We start with Richard Holliday in the middle of the ring. He knows a lot of people came to Worcester to see him beat up Platinum Max Caster….but “Mayor” Max is sick so…..he can’t come. Holliday has some free time on his hands now and decides to challenge Brad Hollister to have a match TONIGHT.  Brad wants nothing to do with this since BB got their win tonight and they have dinner plans. I am popping every time I heard Holliday call him “Bradley”. Holliday is just tearing Big Business apart on the mic, comparing them to a BLT…and TJ is the mayonnaise. This gets SO UNDER their skin, Brad accepts on behalf of TJ. But he’s only giving Holliday 10 minutes…..because TJ will finish him in FIVE.

Match 1: Alec Price vs The Victorious BRG

Alec Price’s crusade of revenge against the Stetson Ranch begins tonight with BRG. Price doesn’t wait for his entrance to finish and he just comes right at BRG. BRG getting pummeled but he kicks the ropes to crotch Price and hits a hangman’s pedigree. It’s not enough and he’s clearly already frustrated, he NEEDS to get this win for Steven Stetson (who isn’t here at ringside, btw). BRG tries to steal the “one more time” sequence but Price rolls it up. BRG with a spear and swinging neck breaker for two! Price refuses to stay down. BRG tries to put him to sleep…but gets his jaw jacked. Price firing up….springboard lariat…ripcord enziguri! The knee sequence hits! BRG ducks the Emergency Leg Drop….comes off the ropes into a cutter. Price with the Suuuuuuprize Kick and gets the three in an energetic opener!

Winner: Alec Price

Price on the mic. He’s waited a long time to get his hands on BRG….but now he’s got two more ranch boys to go.

Match 2: Anthony Greene vs Cam Zagami

This is the REAL last match before Greene heads back to Japan…and it’s a grudge match against after he was blindsided last week by long-thought-lost former tag partner, Cam Zagami. We’re not waiting for the bell this show, are we? Zamgami blindsides Greene right away but AG immediately fighting back and introducing Cam to the buckles. Right to the outside, AG fakes Cam out by hitting the post and playing possum. Good spot. Greene slams him hard to the floorboards owwwwww. AG misses the rope walk crossbody….Zagami trying to get back into it but Greene is just stomping him apart. Cam dodges So Much Prettier….headlock driver for two! Zagami going for SMP but Greene ain’t taking that disrespect. Rope walk crossbody connects! Zagami pushes off SMP again….roll up, feet on the rope…Ref Bill catches the feet at the last second! BAD CAM! AG with a superkick and So much Prettier connects! 1, 2, 3! Club Cam is shut down before he even got the doors open again.

Winner: Anthony Greene

Match 3: “World Class” Channing Thomas (w/ Sidney Bakabella) vs Dan Barry (w/ 50 Cal)

50 Cal is the great equalizer tonight! Bakabella is just yelling at Dan, calling this match a waste of time for Channing since Dan is beneath him. 50 Cal just drops Sidney as the match immediately gets chaotic before the bell. The bell is 0-3 so far! Dan Barry comes in hot but Channing quickly turns this around. Huge corner dropkick for two. Barry fighting back, big clotheslines and elbows. Running enziguri and a cannonball connects! Kick out! Channing with a gut kick and Tiger Bomb for two! Channing immediately gets a get of brass knuckles from Bakabella…..Dan ducks, DVD! Plancha to the floor! The brass knocks are in the ring. 50 Cal gets them….but Bakabella has a roll of nickels or something and KO’s 50. Dan runs in to DVD Bakabella but Channing comes in with the Missouri Tollbooth to drop Dan Barry for the three!

Winner: Channing Thomas

Dan Barry knows this went sideways due to shenanigans and challenges Channing and Bakabella to a tag match against him & 50 Cal! The crowd wants this…but the ever predictable Bakabella starts screaming “But I’m not a wrestler!!!!”. Well….at least he didn’t pee himself this time.

Match 4: Open Door War 2 - Bobby Orlando vs Steven Stetson vs Fancy Ryan Clancy vs Bryce Donovan vs Mortar vs Antonio Christiano Zambrano (w/ Alex Cypher)

Like last year, the winner of tonight’s war gets an “Opportunity Knocks” contract for any match at any time with any stipulation they want. Pedro Dones won this match last year and is finally taking his shot for the title tonight. Unsurprisingly, Stetson trie to talk his opponent’s ears off and they all just punch the heck out of the big cowboy. Shook Crew working together early to drop elbows on Mortar and ACZ. Bobby goes right for the door. There ARE some doors in this house! Cypher trying to save his man from danger but Bryce gets the door set and hits the ripcord black hole slam. Cypher again trying to get involved….Bryce dodging the punt kick…ACZ doing his best to stay away from the door….but Bryce finally gets his hands on ACZ….and chokeslams him right through it! Bryce turns RIGHT INTO the grasp of Mortar, who chucks him through a door! Bryce is eliminated! Bobby off the top! Orlando unloading the clip but Stetson blindsides him with an elbow. Mortar treats Stetson like D-Von. Stetson grabs a pair of doors….he clearly does not like being talked to like that. Mortar just destroying Bobby as Stetson sets up the wood. Clancy makes the save and germans Stetson! Clancy and Mortar with several close calls with a door before Bobby spears Mortar through a door! Stetson measuring and hits a double clothesline. DVD to the knee! The crowd needs to get that spelling chant in a second time as Stetson has taken control of this contest. He pie faces Bobby, which is a bad move as Bobby hits the sick trick outtttttta nowheeeeeere. Mortar quickly pulls Bobby out of the ring and posts him, upset that Bobby eliminated him. He throws Bobby to the Stetson….Cowboy power slam through a door and Mom is out. Clancy is still in it! There’s a door set up at ringside….fighting to the apron….They are both trying to suplex the other off the apron! Clancy slips to the floor and tries a bomb off the apron. Stetson screaming and stomping free. This was VERY close as Stetson goes for another door. Clancy with a baseball slide into the door….Stetson almost goes through….good ring awareness. Clancy setting up a door inside the ring. Oh hey, I recognize these chairs! Stetson trying for a super Plex….Clancy fighting it off…he slips out the front door and Powerbombs Stetson through the door! Fancy Ryan Clancy has won the Open Door War!!!

WInner: Fancy Ryan Clancy

Sebastian Amor is in the ring. Why? He has the mic. Did he mug Rich Palladino? Well…whatever reason he’s here…he’s about to regret it. Here comes the Megasus.

Match 5: Megan Bayne vs Sebastian Amor

Amor seems excited for this to start….it’s short-lived as Bayne tosses him around and makes him bow down with a tombstone in a little over 30 seconds for the win. God. Damn. Is Bayne back to murdering dudes again? The crowd is HERE FOR IT. Can she f*** up the jawline of Wrestling Open soon?

Winner: Megan Bayne

Match 6: Richard Holliday vs TJ Crawford (w/ Brad Hollister) (10-minute time limit)

Bacon joins Paul Crockett on commentary. Paul sounds EXCITED. TJ immediately powders and gets in Holliday’s head. The crowd reminds TJ that he’s the Mayo of this Business sandwich. TJ doing a good job of staying aggressive with Holliday…but Richard is much bigger and can’t be bowled over, despite TJ’s energy. Bacon is sounding increasingly disappointed as TJ getting beaten on. Richard goes for the 2008 but TJ gets a cheap shot, choking Holliday into the top rope. TJ hits a huge dropkick as we hit the five minute mark. He goes for an ankle lock but Holliday shoots him off into the buckles. Holliday tossing TJ around, big torture rack. Holliday powers out of a pin attempt and hits a huge powerbomb for two! TJ with a michanoku driver for two! Holliday going for the 2008 again but TJ KO’s him with a pair of spinning back kicks….TJ takes too long taunting, Holliday with the 2008! Bacon runs off of commentary and pulls TJ out of the ring so the time limit expires and they go to a draw. Good match with a nice out on the time limit draw but Bacon can’t be thrilled with TJ right now.

Winner: Time Limit Draw

Match 7: Dezmond Cole vs Tyree Taylor (w/ Brother Greatness) (Chain Match)

If Cole wins this match, he gets five minutes in the ring with Brother Greatness and you KNOW the good Brother wants no part of that sermon. Both wrestlers are joined at the wrist by a chain and they have to drag their opponent around and touch all four corners. If I’m being 100% honest, this is my least favorite type of match….but I love these guys so I suspect this will be an entertaining fight. Cole comes right in to try and slay the giant early. He jumps off the apron to jack Tyree right into the top rope. Cole off the top and dropping bombs as BG screams on the outside. Taylor with a big shot and drops huge slaps into Cole. Stomping right into the face and chest of Cole. Huge punt to the ribs. This is a beating. BG hands Tyree a belt to whip on the downed Boofa. Even Paul Crockett sounds extra uncomfortable on the call as the belt cracks on Cole’s back. Cole with a sudden capo kick stuns Taylor! Big spin kick drops Tyree! Boofa has the belt! Shhhhhh…CRACK! Taylor is getting pummeled with the leather! Boofa hits two corners. Shining wizard! Three corners. Tyree is up and whips Cole across the ring with the chain back into the first corner! Tyree dropping slaps to the mouth and Cole is getting up through them! Cole screaming “that is not enough!” As he capo kicks Tyree again! Crowd pops big here. Spinning back elbow! Shotgun into the corner! Tyree catches him with a kick to the back of the head…torture rack! Tyree walks around the ring hitting the buckles…but Boofa is also hitting the buckles from that spot…Tyree crotched with the chain! Posted! Cole hits a huge swanton bomb and starts the buckle count over…Tyree pulls him to the floor! Tyree eats the apron! THIS IS NOT ENOUGH! Tyree dropped with a superkick. Cole walks and gets three buckles….Tyree and Brother Greatness try to hold him back but he clocks Tyree and flies into the 4th corner for the win!

Winner: Dezmond Cole

Match 8: Dezmond Cole vs Brother Greatness

BG blasts Cole with the chain immediately and tries to steal the pin! He’s frantically trying to get his best shots in and end this five minute match. Cole is staggered, still weary from his clash with Tyree…BG with a brain buster! Kick out! Greatness has the chain again…Cole blocks the shot and starts to unload! He rips BG’s shirt off and lays in some hard chops! Tossed across the ring by his necktie! This is an emotional beatdown for Cole, as he vents months of problems with the Church of Greatness out. BG with a defiant slap…Boofa rips off the wrist tape and just starts beating him. Huge press slam into the buckles! Pull up rock bottom! THIS IS NOT ENOUGH! Swanton bomb and gets the win! Fantastic.

Winner: Dezmond Cole

Match 9: The Hispanic Mechanics (Jos A & Jos B) vs Waves & Curls (Traevon Jordan & Jaelyn Brandyn)

The roof might explode for this one. The Mechanics WANTED a shot at the IWTV Tag Belts but Kylon King is hurt this week…but Waves & Curls are an absolutely wonderful replacement. The first time these teams clashed, it was wonderful. They are clearly amped up to give a wild round two. Is this going to be a work rate match? Ha, no. This is gonna be fun and dancing and smiles and just…stupidly enjoyable. Every time they start wrestling….we get to dancing. The crowd is wild for this. Even Paul Crockett sounds like he’s enjoying this. Did someone feed him a white claw? Anyways, we have a dance off. The Mechanics definitely try to steal a rollup during a Macarena spot. W&C return fire but they decide to go over to the bar and order shots. SHOTS! Did Traevon and A just pass out?!? B and Jaelyn can hold their liquor better. Let’s do more shots! They are wobbly…they are doing more shots! More shots! Both guys pass out…but B lands on top so he gets the three! Wtf just happened lololol.

Winners: Hispanic Mechanics

Main Event: Ichiban(c) vs Pedro Dones (No DQ match for the Wrestling Open Championship, Miracle Generation barred from ringside)

Dones is finally cashing in his Opportunity Knocks contract after holding it for a year. He sends Rat Jaz to the back, the shot caller has this. And he’s calling his shot…he’s going for the gold. Dones struggles with finally committing to handing over the contract. Can he pull it off? Dones with a double leg and throwing hands right away! Ichiban is taking the advantage early and running Dones into all the buckles. Dive to the floor but he might have wiped out his knee in the process. Dones has a target and he ABSOLUTELY goes right for it. Ichiban is hurting and Dones grabs a chair. Wrap it around the leg…he takes too long and Ichiban blasts him with the steel! Dones is paying for his hubris with shot after shot. He tries to slingshot into Dones but eats nothing but chair…Dones has the chair and swinging for the fences. He wraps that bad knee around the post. He applies a figure four off the post and Ichiban is screaming in pain. Stretch muffler! (I love this move so much) Ichiban refuses to quit….he kicks free with his good leg. He tries to swing the chair but Dones bowls him over! Why does he have…clippers?!? He’s cutting the middle buckle off! Ichiban tries to whip Dones into there but he gets cut in half with a huge lariat! Dones tries to go up top, he doesn’t belong there! Ichiban intercepts…Dones fights off the superplex…he bites Ichiban and comes flying..Ichiban with a near rollup and the champ is rolling! Handspring back elbow! Springboard dropkick! Flatliner incoming…Dones catches him…Ichiban with a tornado ddt! Kick out! Ichiban up top….high cross body! Kick out. Ichiban sets up the chair…hes trying for a suplex…Dones reverses to an Olympic slam through the chair!  Both guys back up, trading chops! Ichiban with a kick to the head…Dones with an uppercut to the crotch! Ichiban pays that right back! They are both down and writhing! Struggle back up, trading pin attempts….it’s super close for both sides! Ichiban setting up the flatliner again and Ray Jaz is out here to pull him out of the ring. The champ slammed to the apron. The crowd is on fire with their hatred for Ray Jaz. He wraps Ichiban’s head in a chair and tries to blast another chair into it. Dones stops Jaz and says he wants to do it HIS way! He sends Jaz ti the back…and there’s clearly some dissection. Dones trying to wrap this up! Flying headbutt to the champ…kick out! This is awesome. Dones is shot into that exposed buckle…Ichiban with the flatliner! Dones kicks out at ONE! Ichiban with a superkick! Kick out at ONE! Dines comes running but Ichiban blasts Pedro with a chair. Several chair shots! Dones kicks out again! At two! Ichiban winding up the chair…Dones yells at him to finish it…Ichiban drops the chair and hits the flatliner for the three. This ruled so hard.

Winner: Ichiban

Ichiban pulls up Dones and shows respect to the shot caller. EVEN THE CROWD applauds for Dones. Wow. Just wow.
