WWE presents Money In The Bank from London, England on July 1. Here's our take on what will happen at the show.
Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor for the WWE World Heavyweight
Dave: The build for this has been good. Balor has tapped into his old persona, as Seth asked him to do. The Judgement Day could use a big win here but I don’t see them taking the Title off of Seth so soon. I expect Balor to be protected, maybe Damien Priest comes out and it leads to Balor’s loss. It seems like Balor and Priest are on the road to a break up so this may be where the trigger is pulled.
Mike: All of the WWE stories are just "on" right now. To me, however, there's no world where Rollins doesn't walk out of this match as Champion. Balor has done an incredible job of rebuilding himself and is easily the most compelling he has been since the day he debuted for the company in 2014, but Rollins is a franchise unto himself right now. I predict great match and Rollin retains.
Richard: This will be a good match and has had a decent build for the most part. Will Dom or Priest be in a condition to help Finn in this match? How long will the crowd be making noises to match Seth's music? If Rhea gets involved in the match, does the fourth wall get broken and Becky comes out to help her husband and also set up a feud between Rhea and Becky? Will anyone help Seth to neutralize Dom or Damian if they get involved? Could it be Drew?
The Civil War: The Usos vs. The Bloodline
Dave: I am so ready for this and it could go either way, which is what makes it so great. Will this be where Roman adds new people to The Bloodline to replace his cousins? My hunch is that The Usos go over here. Will they pull the trigger and have Jey pin Roman, setting up a huge match between the two at SummerSlam?
Mike: The right finish is Jey pins Roman after Solo accidentally hits him with the spike. The atmosphere for this should be off the charts. This is the best weekly story WWE has had dating back to Steve Austin vs. The McMahon family.
Richard: I am writing this before Smackdown so I have no idea what Roman might have said before being interrupted by Jimmy and Jey at the end of the show. Will brother and brother be able to beat brother and cousin? Will Solo get through the haze of blind devotion to a cult leader to join his brothers (and then they can do a four way at SummerSlam with all family members involved. I think the Usos need to win the match, but the question is who takes the pin. If it is Solo, that could cause another fracture when Roman berates Solo for losing to the false idols of the Bloodline. If Roman is pinned, does the Uso who does it get a title match at SummerSlam?
Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match: LA Knight vs. Logan Paul vs. Damien Priest vs. Santos Escobar vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Butch vs. Ricochet
Dave: To me, this comes down to a three man race between Knight, Paul and Priest. You can make the case for all three. Paul has a ready made match with Rollins and if he wins MITB, he’s not cutting the line. If Balor wins, Priest challenging his partner would be cool. But to me, I go with LA Knight. Him carrying the briefcase will make for great promos.
Mike: DUMMY! YEA!H I am all in with LA Knight and I predict perhaps he cashes it in. Since they have made it clear it can be against any title holder, I wonder if he picks the bones on GUNTHER. This should be a really fun match with Logan whipping out some crazy athletics. In a lot of ways, this harkens back to the earliest days of MITB with all the superbly talented athletic workers who weren't getting their own singles push and love all given the chance to go insane. I am truly looking forward to this one.
Richard: Before Logan was added to the match, the best person to give the briefcase to would be Knight because he is over with the crowd. I know that any champion can be challenged and I don't see Roman being challenged by the winner of the case, other than Logan. What if they decide to up the ante by putting Brock in the match since he has a history of being inserted into Money in the Bank when not part of the match in advance. Before Logan wins the match (and either challenges Seth at SummerSlam or Roman in Saudi Arabia), there are two spots I demand they do in this match. First, there must be a spot where Butch and someone else are on top of the ladder and Butch pulls the fingers to force the other person off the ladder. Second, Logan and Ricochet have to be on separate sides of the ring on the apron and they both have to do springboard moves onto the ladder at the same time. Does this open the show to set up the image of the winner teasing a cash in on either Seth or Roman?
Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Iyo Sky vs. Becky Lynch vs. Bayley vs. Zoey Stark vs. Trish Stratus vs. Zelina Vega
Dave: Four heels vs. two faces make the road rough for Lynch and Vega. I see Becky keeping Trish from winning and maybe that costs her as well. I want to see it come down to Bayley and Iyo, with Iyo winning.
Mike: I am all in with IYO SKY. I feel like it's Zelina's time coming out of Backlash in Puerto Rico but the company has obviously been priming The Bayley-IYO break and I believe this is where it's going to go down.
Richard: I am writing this before Smackdown airs so I have no idea what they are going to be doing with the Charlotte/Asuka/Bianca situation, but I am going to go with my gut and say that since Pearce told Bianca she could not be at ringside for the match on Smackdown, she gets to be in the Money in the Bank Match. If she is in the match, she wins. If not, I think it comes down to Iyo and Bayley. Will Iyo finally get fed up with everything that Bayley has done to her. I think it happens. Bayley and Iyo are on the top of the ladder and when Bayley thinks Iyo will 'do the right thing' to let Bayley win, Iyo knocks Bayley off the ladder and Iyo takes the briefcase. Of the six, the only other person I can see winning is Becky.
Gunther vs. Matt Riddle for The WWE Intercontinental Championship
Dave: I love Riddle and all but there is no way he should beat Gunther here. Have a great match? Yes. Take the Title? No.
Mike: Riddle is way too early in his return to be given the trust of a title. Unless they are going to do something WAY out of left field, like Randy Orton showing up and hitting a RKO out of nowhere, there's no way the title goes to Riddle in my mind.
Richard: This is going to be a lot of fun to watch because of what these two men can do, but I wish there was someone else for Gunther to face since the Riddle character is all over the place. Gunther isn't losing this one.
Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler vs. Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan for The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
Dave: The former champs never lost the belts so I could see putting them back on them but if it’s me I have the heels cheat to win, forcing a chase from the babyface.
Mike: Dave is 100% correct here. The money is in the chase story, not a quick switch back.
Richard: I was not surprised that we are getting this match after Raquel watched the vanquishing of The Mystical NXT Women's Tag Champs. If they are going to try to make a big deal out of Ronda and Shayna, I don't see them losing this match, but this is the WWE where anything can happen.
Cody Rhodes vs. Dominic Mysterio
Dave: I love Dom as a heel. He is great in his role. With that said, Cody can not lose this match, even if it’s due to chicanery from Rhea Ripley. Getting sidetracked in a feud with Dom moves him too far away from the top of the card. We should be getting the rubber match between him and Brock next month at the big show. Maybe Brock shows up here and lays Cody out after the win.
Mike: I predict Dom wins...after Brock shows up.
Richard: I am more interested in how Dom handles himself in the match than winning or losing. I don't see Dom winning the match, but it would definitely shake things up for Cody if Dom gets the victory, even if it is a banana peel situation. I don't know if I would have Brock appear, but it would be a big deal for the people in London to set up something for a Raw during a long holiday weekend.
