COMPLETE AEW DYNAMITE BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2023-06-28 20:23:00

It is Wednesday and this week, AEW Dynamite is coming from the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton ON, Canada. The commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz.

Jon Moxley vs Tomohiro Ishii

Mox comes to the ring through the crowd to Wild Thing, so it looks like the music at the PPV

They go head to head and then into chops as both men are known for straight ahead brawling. They both just throw a lot of chops and strikes at each other, no subtlety to anything in this match, and if one takes a big hit, the other throws it back at them. When Ishii is down outside the ring, Eddie Kingston comes to ringside to keep the rest fo the BCC away from him

When we come back after commercial, Mox is busted open to make up for the fact that he didn't bleed at Forbidden Door.  They throw hands again, and Mox is able to get a Gotch style piledriver for two. Mox then lays in the hammer and anvil elbows. After Mox tries to get a submission, they go back to striking, and when they clothesline each other, both men collapse in the middle of the ring.

They trade two counts, and in one move Ishii no sells a cutter and hits a clothesline for two. Mox gets a Death Rider for the pn and the win to get revenge for the loss on Sunday night.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Despite Kingston at ringside, no post match shenanigans, but Kingston and Mox have words after Mox knocks into Kingston as he walks up the ramp. Kingston keeps saying Mox did it by himself and doesn’t need the BCC.

Renee Paquette is in the back and as she goes to talk to Adam Cole, and MJF drives up and mocks Cole for getting sick before Forbidden Door. He then says that he and Cole could run this company noew that they are a tag team.  So he wants to bond with Cole this weekend. Cole agrees, and MJF says he has a gift for Cole. A shirt that says “Better than you baybay” combining their catch phrases,

In the back, Renee asks Jon what the hell is going on with him and Eddie. Eddie shows and they start arguing, Eddie storms off, and Renne tells him to fix it because she’s done.

We get a video package on the Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay match, which was awesome. They both say it’s not over.

Orange Cassidy, El Huo El Vikingo, and Keith Lee vs Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker, and Matt Menard

Garcia and Vikingo start out and it's time to see the kind of insanely acrobatic stuff he can pull out. Cassidy and Parker tag in and it’s time for shenanigans as Parker shows up his new comb, and Cassidy takes it and puts it in his pocket. Cassidy makes Parker and Menard run into each other, and when Garcia tags in, it’s back to serious stuff. I don’t know if Cassidy is really injured or if it is a storyline, but having him do comedy stuff for a few weeks to recover is a good idea, and Parker and Menard are really good at the comedy stuff.

Vikingo is tagged in to be the babyface in peril as we get to the middle of the match. He is beat down through the picture in picture and finally gets the hot tag with a pair of leaps over Parker and Menard so that Keith Lee can clean house. I also see Lee is back to black hair. Lee actually stands up with Garcia on his back after Garcia tries a double stomp, which leads to Garcia on his back and Lee clotheslines Parker and Menard.

Vikingo tags in and leaps onto Lee accidentally.  Lee picks up Vikinko and uses him as a battering ram against Parker and Menard. Garcia and Cassidy have a quick sequence of near falls before Lee tags in again. He hits a supernova on Menard for the pin and the win.

Winners: Orange Cassidy, El Huo El Vikingo, and Keith Lee

Entertaining match where a group of babyfaces the crowd loves get to show what they do against heels that know how to put them over.

We get a video from The Elite and Dark Order show up to challenge the Elite. Dark Order is upset that he’s been ignoring them for months and Page stumbles in explaining himself.

We then get a video of Bryan Danielson vs Kazuchika Okada from Forbidden Door which becomes more impressive now that we know Bryan broke his arm during the match and kept going.

Renee is now with Chriss Jericho and Sammy Guevara and she asks about Chris becoming the Painmaker tonight. He says that Sting wanted to spend more time with him, and tonight he will go deep inside himself and go dark to be the Painmaker.

Dark Order (Evil Uno, John Silver, and Alex Reynolds vs The Elite (Matt and Nick Jackson, and Adam Page)

Alex starts and he’s having worlds with Page, who says we don’t need to do this. Nick and Alex work wristlocks with Nick getting a crucifix. These six have worked together a lot through the years, so this will be where the Bucks can do their stuff as they tell the story about Page and the Dark Order. Silver tags in and he calls for Page, and they have words in the middle of the ring before locking up.

They do mat wrestling and when Silver gives him a back elbow, Page tags out to Matt, and Uno tags in. When they run the ropes, Uno nails Page to knock him off the apron. This sets off the tag team siren goes off and the Bucks start doing Buck stuff, but the crowd is pretty quiet through a lot of it.

Page is tagged in by Matt, who is telling him to do his part, but Page tags out as we go picture in picture…and the crowd boos Matt when he dresses down Page.  If they are looking to turn the dark Order heel, this crowd isn’t buying into it. In fact, when we come back from picture in picture, Nick is getting booed.

Uno cleans house and while the crowd doesn’t explode, they are cheering. As Uno and Page face off, there is a sign right behind them that says “Still waiting on Megaman 3”.  I love video game signs at wrestling shows. Dark Order works over Page and the crowd is OK with it. The Bucks break up the Pendulum Bomb and they have Silver set up for the buckshot lariat, but he hesitates. Hangman then gets a deadeye on Silver, followed by the BTE Trigger, and finally Page hits the buckshot lariat for the pin and the win.

Winners: The Elite

Afterward, Page tells Silver he is sorry. The BCC hit the ring with chairs and beat down The Elite and the Dark Order leave without helping. Takeshita and Don Callis show and join in. Kingston runs down for the save but he gets beat down as well.

In the back MJF and Cole take off to go party, and Cole tells Roderick Strong good luck in his match against Samoa Joe tonight. Cole did not look like he was ready to fight for his right to Party.

Jack Perry comes out and has them cut his music, saying the crowd ruined the song for him, and they will never hear it again. He calls Hamilton Toronto, and gives his reason for turning. After having his title matches ruined for him, Hook dangled his unrecognized title in his face. He challenges Hook for the FTW title, but when Hook shows, Perry takes off.  Hook gives chase. Perry jumps in a waiting car backstage and takes off.

REALLY wish he would have said that MJF’s talking to him put the idea in his head, since that was the start of the turn.

Sammy comes out with his cue card gimmick during the picture in picture for  the match with Sting and Darby.  He never should have stopped doing it.

Ruby Soho w/Toni Storm and Saraya vs The Already In The Ring Alexia Nicole

Britt Baker is out tonight due to illness, so we get a squash match instead. Soho wins with the lockjaw to mock Britt Baker.

Winner: Ruby Soho

Alexia gets a green L, and Ruby grabs a mic. She says Baker is sick because of their filthy, disgusting, germ-ridden country. The crowd is not biting on her trolling. She says that she will get revenge for last year’s loss in the Owen Hart tournament. The air seems to have gone out of the crowd as they just aren't reacting to this.

We get a quick promo to introduce Johnny TV (the former John Morrison from WWE)

Sting and Darby Allin vs Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara in a Tornado Match

Jericho and Sammy come out separately.

Darby and Sammy fight on the outside. Inside the ring, Jericho tells Sting to get his bat and they joust with them. It then goes back to brawling with Jericho and Sting getting the camera time. Sammy sets up a ladder in the ring, and Jericho nails Darby with a chair as he passes by to go back to Sting. Sting seems down so Jericho and Sammy double team Darby.

When they come back from picture in picture, we start getting the big moves, and the ladder hasn’t been used yet, so I believe it should be called Chekov’s Ladder.

Darby and Sting grab tables and set them up. Darby then sets up the ladder at the edge of the ring. Sammy gets rolled onto a table and both Darby and Sting go to the top and Derby goes down.  Sting leaps front he ladder to Sammy on the table.

It looked to me like Sting clocked his head on the second table. Darby and Jericho fight it out in the ring. Darby sets the ladder on the top turnbuckle and rams Jericho into it, and the camera goes for a close up at the exact wrong time as Jericho is blading. Sting gets into the ring and Jericho locks in the Walls. Sting crawls to his bat and nails Jericho with it to break the hold.

Sting gets a splash, Jericho gets a codebreaker, and Jericho gets a two count. Sting gets the Scorpion Death Drop for two. Sting gets a Scorpion Death Lock for the win.

Winners: Sting and Darby Allin
