Wrestling Open Week 77

6/22/23 - Worcester, MA

Here we are at the go-home episode for next week’s SUMMER STUNNER! I’m not here (I’m in the DR this week) but thank f*** for IWTV: My favorite $10 per month wrestling expenditure (I’ll take that unmarked envelope full of cash now, Gerry lol). This cards been looking pretty stacked leading up so let’s see what we got. I’m told Stanley Dragowski beat Travis Jacobs in this week’s Spotlight Match (with a Polish Hammer, of course)! Paul Crockett is rolling solo on commentary tonight, Rich Palladino is on commentary and GODDAMN the room looks really full up as we fade in.

Match 1: Kelsey Raegan vs Notorious Mimi

Welcome back, Kelsey Raegan! Crockett calls this a battle of good and evil. This tracks. Kelsey starts strong but gets caught up with a series of knee lifts on the ropes. Kelsey back with a roaring elbow from the side of two. Kelsey using those legs for violence. Hard chops wake Mimi back up…but Raegan just blasts her back down for two. Mimi with a snap face buster. Crossbody isn’t enough. Kelsey tries a ddt but Mimi pushes her off and hits a spinning back kick for the win!

Winner: Notorious Mimi

Match 2: Lucas Chase vs Gal Barkay

Barkay stepped to Joe Ocasio last week but I think he wants to make a statement against one of Wrestling Open’s other big angry boys. Chase with a foot stomp and Gal is like “OH THIS IS HOW YOU WANNA PLAY?”. Huge shoulder block. Blue thunder bomb for two. Chase escapes a full nelson with a big rebound kick and a German! He tries to put Gal to sleep, Barkay fights free. Huge forearm and a back body drop! Gal firing up hard. Top rope dropkick! He’s calling for it! Chase escapes to finish but eats a ripcord ddt for two! Chase with a spine buster! Kick out! Chase off the second and Gal catches him with the full nelson and Chase quickly gives it up!

Winner: Gal Barkay

Joe Ocasio blindsides Gal at the entryway as he’s leaving the ring. Back into the ring, Gal put on the top. Running headbutt and a super power slam. If Gal was making a statement, Ocasio just delivered his retort.

Match 3: Shook Crew (Bobby Orlando & Bryce Donovan) vs The Kellys (Westfield & Grayson Kelly) vs RJ Rude & Rex Lawless

We have a preview of this year’s Eliminator Cup Tournament! Bobby makes the mistake of trying to slam Rex. Orlando getting pummeled by Rex and RJ. Westfield with a a tag in and blindsides RJ. The Kellys doing a good job of doubling up on RJ. Rude with the kickoff but the Kellys wipe out all his tag options. RJ with a stung millionaire! Tag to Rex! Big man going wild! Big spear! Chokebomb! Westfield saves the pin and Shook Crew finally gets into the action again. Bryce slams Rex! Bobby with the dive to RJ! Westfield unloads a huge lariat on Bobby as Grayson tries to popup Bryce…..Bryce comes down with a rollup and gets the three!

Winners: Shook Crew

The Kellys beating down Shook Crew! Stanley Dragowski & Johnny Rivera run in to make the save! Rex helps run the Kellys off!

Match 4: Bronson vs Nolo Kitano

Oh jeez. Poor Nolo. He tries to use his speed but Bronson is a savage. The flips turn into a backbreaker. Here comes the pain. Nolo escapes getting press slammed into the crowd….he might be coming back….Bronson stunned with an enziguri! Huge slingshot flip ddt! Bronson kicks out as the crowd popping hard for Nolo! Bronson catches Nolo and blasts a bomb. And another. And a lariat. Goodnight Nolo.

Winner: Bronson

Match 5: Mane Event (Jay Lyon & Ringleader Midas) vs Hispanic Mechanics (Jos A & Jos B)

Even without Pedro Dones in tow (is he still their buddy?), the Mane Event is WELL JEERED in Worcester. The Mechanics, however? Worcester just turns into a PARTY when they walk through the curtain. I don’t have to hear it on the broadcast to know JUST how loud this room is. Crockett says he can’t hear anything right now. Lol. Midas wants NOTHING to do with this….but he tangles with A and loses himself to the hot dancing energy. Lyon and B get in there and Mane Event is sent flying…but they use a distraction to blast A in the back of the head. Mane Event takes over and the crowd in Worcester just regales them with Meow-based chants. OMG THEY ARE JINGLING KEYS AT JAY LYON LOLLLLL. A fighting back….double dropkick! Crawl and tag to B! B with a slam to Lyon! Dusty punching on Midas! Lyon with the blindside but he eats a corner spear! Midas cuts off the A2B but he’s sent flying. Big clothesline to Lyon….B wants a splash but no one’s home. B shotgunned and Midas flipping through Lyon into a ddt for two! B escapes the grand finale! Lyon sent to the floor. Midas throwing punches…..Lyon tries to pull out B but but Midas accidentally hits him with a baseball slide! B pops up Midas for the A2B and the Mechanics get the win!

Winners: Hispanic Mechanics

Jos B wants to talk? They love a party and so do we! They are making a challenge for Summer Stunner…..they want the winners of tonight’s IWTV tag team title match!

We have an announcement? At Summer Stunner, we’re getting the second installment of the OPEN DOOR WAR! There’s some doors in this house, after all! Last year, Pedro Dones won the contract that he is cashing in next week against Ichiban. This year, who will be in it?!?

Match 6: Alec Price vs Ricky Smokes

The Northeast Beast is ready to give the Smoke Show a hell of a Wrestling Open debut. Price wants to go fast but Smokes wants to slow this down and make Alec wait. Price can taunt too though and Smokes does NOT like this. Smokes trying to stay out of the line of fire but Price blasts a cross body and knee. Smokes has the knee sequence scouted….he slingshots through the middle rope with a spear! Hard whips to the buckles. Price with a dodge and hard chops around the ring. Smokes catches Price running…pair of backbreakers for two! Ricky trying to grind Price down but the Beast firing back with forearms and a STO. Moonsault for two! Smokes dodges the suuuuuuuuprize kick! He tgoes to the top, Alec dropkicks him off there. Dive to the floor!Throw him back! The knee trio hits! Emergency Leg drop connects for the win!

Winner: Alec Price

Match 7: Anthony Greene vs Richard Holliday

We’re calling this a SPECIAL ATTRACTION match. It has a 20-min time limit! Greene is headed back to Japan soon but he is fighting a long time friend and rival in Holliday. Greene is over the moon that Holliday is back and healthy again. Greene asks the locker room to come to ringside and bring that old school Beyond vibe into the room. A good chunk of the faces are out here…and maybe one weird drunk guy from a costume party in the bar below? Good chain wrestling over the wrist…Holliday looks like he might take a shortcut but it’s all good natured fun….until Holliday pats Greene on the head….they start shoving….NOW IT’S A FIGHT! Holliday whipping Greene around, this is some solid working over. Greene fights off…rope walk cross body for two! Superkick for two! Holliday fighting back, they are just going back and forth in and out of the corner. Holliday with a back suplex reversal to a sleeper. Pin reversals back and forth! This is even as hell…Greene trying for so much prettier….Holliday with the cutter for two! Crowd fired up for this! Trading forearms! Holliday with super kicks! Greene with a suplex and cradle for two! We’re at the ten minute mark! AG brings him up for a superplex……reversed to a super 2008!!! Holliday picks up the win!

Winner: Richard Holliday

The wrestler and the crowd are clapping for this. Greene is stunned as Holiday offers a hand and they hug. Holliday heads to the back as Rich Palladino lets us know this was his last appearance at Open before he goes back to Japan. Greene heads out…and the weird red robed guy blindsides him! Who is it….oh hell no. It’s CAM GODDAMNED ZAGAMI. Greene is busted open as Cam is just looking like a madman. Cam pummels Greene with his belt. He’s furious that he was in Greene’s shadow for years and never got a helping hand. Greene might have an invite to WWE…and Japan….but not Club Cam. Zagami lays down a challenge for next week at Summer Stunner. Is Greene going to stay back one more week to deal with THIS?

Fancy Ryan Clancy is out here to break his silence after being betrayed by TJ Crawford a few weeks back. He’s ben doing a lot of thinking. He thanks everyone in the crowd for having his back, even when he wasn’t such a great person. TJ’s betrayal…he took that personally. He thought he had a best friend. It’s clearly not over between them. And now Bronson is out here? He’s annoyed that he’s listening to Clancy moan and complain about having no one to trust in wrestling. Bronson calls him a millennial crybaby instead of a throwback wrestler. Clancy invites him to the ring…but Bronson says he doesn’t fight for free. He just wanted to let Clancy know how pathetic he was. Clancy mentions that he also had an announcement….he’s not going ANYWHERE. And next week, he’ll be in the Open Door War. And he challenges Bronson to join him in that scramble. Bronson says Clancy is NOT THAT GUY….but the crowd disagrees. Bronson agrees to be in the Open Door War just so he can press slam Clancy through one.

Main Event 1: Miracle Generation (Dustin Waller & Kylon King)(c) vs Max Caster & JGeorge (for the IWTV Independent Wrestling Tag Team Championships)

Worcester Mayor Hopeful Max Caster is here to win some gold (w/ JGeorge). Caster wants all the fans that give him a middle finger ejected from the Eagle. We don’t have that kind of security. Max has been asking the Mayor of Worcester to come debate him in the Wrestling Open ring…and tonight he’s here to debate him! And that is NOT the mayor. He looks like a high schooler wearing a giant suit. The fake mayor points out just how much he’s failed the city and how much people should trust Max as Mayor. This sham of a “debate” ends as the champs hit the ring. The newly proclaimed “All Access” team just ambushes Miracle Generation and starts pummeling Kylon with swift tags and double teams. Of course, they can’t help but cheat as the fake mayor makes a point to get involved too. Kylon with a double northern lights! Tag to Dustin! Big double high crossbody! Double cutter! Kick out! Flash misses a splash and eats a hard backhand from Caster. Flash fights off a Doomsday device but he eats an AA…Kylon in with a German to JGeroge! Kylon gets his leg grabbed and JGeorge hits a huge leg lariat. He comes flying in for the kill on Klyon but Dustin superkicks him and takes the win before Caster can make the save!

Winners: Miracle Generation

All Access looks to steal the championship belts…not again! Richard Holliday makes the save! They get their hands on the fake mayor. A couple of super kicks and a 2008 later? The champs can celebrate their win!

Main Event 2: Ray Jaz & Pedro Dones vs Ichiban & Gabriel Skye

Pedro and Ichiban finally go to war next week for the Wrestling Open championship. Ray Jaz…still undefeated in singles competition. Gabe Skye…the true #1 contender to the title. Oh god, I just realized another reason why I prefer being IN Worcester…I have to listen to RAY F***ING JAZ’S STUPID F***ING TIP OF THE DAY. I just start booing at my tv to replicate the experience. They say words. I don’t hear them. But I do catch that Dones is going for his opponent’s necks. That’s a shot to call for sure. Ichiban and Dones square right off…..and Dones immediately tags out. Typical Scumbag. Dones and Jaz are just owning the early minutes though, bullying their opponents. Gabe taking a huge beatdown from the “Legends”. They are doing everything they can to just break Skye and leave Ichiban with no help. That knee is becoming a liability as Jaz applies so much pressure. The crowd loves Jaz so much. Gabe pushes off…….Gabe throwing kicks….tag to Ichiban! Dones has no where to run and the champ is running through them both! Gabe pauses Ichiban as he fires up. He wants a piece of these guys but can’t stop getting in Ichiban’s face. Uh oh….Jaz and Dones try to capitalize and eat double super kicks instead. Huge tower of doom! Gabe back up, falcon arrow to Jaz but that knee is trashed. Dones with an olympic slam! Ichiban in to trade! Leg lariat! Gabe Skye looks like he’s winding up to blindside Ichiban? Oh no, the focus is off….Jaz comes in again and eats a high kick from Gabe. Dones rams Gabe into Ichiban. Dones catches the flatliner and jackknife pins him for three! He did it this week…..can he do it next week when the belt is on the line?!?

Winners: Dones & Jaz

Next week, it all comes to a head at SUMMER STUNNER!
