6/17 NJPW ROAD TO STRONG IN TOKYO, JAPAN RESULTS

6/17/23 Results from New Japan Road - Road to STRONG from Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan,

1 - Kosei Fujita vs. Master Wato

Wato pins Fujita with Recientemente.  

2 - Ryusuke Taguchi and Yuto Nakashima vs. Boltin Oleg and Tomoaki Honma

Honma taps out Nakashima with a Boston Crab 

Boltin Oleg continues to improve in the ring and the fans are cheering the young lion now.  

3 - Dick Togo, SHO, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Togi Makabe, Toru Yano and Hirooki Goto 

SHO hits Tenzan with his wrench. EVIL hits Everything is Evil on Tenzan.

EVIL pins Tenzan.

4 - Drilla Moloney, Clark Conners, and Gedo vs. Francesco Akira, TJP and Great O-Khan

Akira pins Gedo after a Spinfire.

Drilla and Conners attack TJP and Akira after the match.  They swear a lot and tell Catch 22 that they will take their Tag Titles.

5. - Gabriel Kidd and Alex Coughlin vs. Oskar Leube and YOSHI-HASHI 

Kidd and Coughlin destroy YOSHI-HASHI and Oskar, tearing apart guardrails and fighting into the crowd.   More constant swearing by the War Dogs.   

Coughlin pins Oskar after hitting a Spike Piledriver.

War Dogs attack YOSHI-HASHI after the match.   Goto makes the save.  They double team Goto.   Coughlin grabs the IWGP Tag Belts and goes to hit Goto.    YOSHI-HASHI stops the attack and they send War Dogs to the floor.   

YOSHI-HASHI takes the mic and says if they want a fight then challenge them for the New Japan Strong Tag Team Championship.   War Dogs throws guardrails and retreats.

The new Bullet Club are getting shoved in the everyone’s faces with their excessive swearing extreme gimmicks and chaotic tactics.   Conners and Drilla and Coughlin and Kidd are quickly getting thrown into title pictures very quickly.  Most were just young lions two years ago and now they are getting pushes as if they are top guys.  Coughlin and Kidd will need to show what they can do in the G1 Climax.  But is it too much too quickly?  Will the fans believe they can be threats?

6 - Tiger Mask, El Desperado, Ren Narita and Shota Umino vs. YOH, Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada

YOH pins Tiger Mask after a super kick.

Narita and Umino had words after the match.  

They played a video of Jon Moxley saying he and Homicide will face El Desperado and Jun Kasai on July 4.   Moxley challenges Desperado to a Final Death match on July 5.  Both will be at Korakuen Hall.  

Jun Kasai comes to the ring and cuts a promo for the crowd.

7 - Shingo Takagi and Tetsuya Naito vs. TAKA Michinoku and Taichi

Takagi pins TAKA after a Pumping Bomber.

8 -Yoshinobu Kanemaru and SANADA vs. Hiromu Takahashi and Yota Tsuji 

Tsuji hits a spear on Kanemaru.   Hiromu hits a Time Bomb on Kanemaru. 

Hiromu pins Kanemaru.

Hiromu and Tsuji address the crowd to send them home happy.  They pop big for Hiromu’s positive words on Tsuji.   

This should have been they way to build up Tsuji as a monster, before he got a title shot.
