Note from Scherer: I made the headline, not Cory. Just wanted full disclosure on that one.
It is the first episode of AEW Collision, from Chicago IL at the United Center. Our announce team is Nigel McGuinness, and Keven Kelly
And we start with the blasting of “Cult of Personality” by Living Colour and CM Punk with a microphone and a bag. HUGE chant for Punk.
Punk says he’s tired of being nice and says he was out with a tricep teaser, and says as long as he’s here, it’s the professional wrestling business. He says that if someone would have told the 15 year old Punk about his sellout of different arenas, he wouldn't believe it. He says “Tell me when I’m telling lies.” He says he got here because of smart, passionate fans and he loves them for it. He has never compromised, and he is himself and he couldn’t do it without the fans.
He says there are some people who hate him for the same reason the fans love him. He is the truth and the truth is painful. He points out different names and says you can call me all of that, and he is the one real deal in a business full of counterfeit bucks.
“The king is back, baby” and he says he has a lot of things to get off his chest. He asks Chicago why he should change. It’s what Joe Strummer trained him to be. He says there are people who think they deserve an apology, and to them he says he says the only people softer than you are the people you like.
He says the last time they saw him, he was holding what it is in that bag. He won it, not for having the best dog collar match, but for winning that match.
His new catch phrase seems to be “Tell me when I am telling lies.”
He says some people were hoping he’d lay his boots down and walk away, but until someone can put him down, he’ll keep filling them in the ring.
