IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2023-06-08 22:03:00

Impact Wrestling on AXS TV opens with a recap of everything that led us to tonight.

Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion Chris Bey with Ace Austin vs. Jason Hotch with John Skyler & Brian Myers

Myers cut a promo complaining that Subculture was able to get a title shot somehow but it didn't matter because The Good Hands were going to win the belts tomorrow.  John Skyler reiterated that.

It was a nice competitive bout with Bey looking strong early on.  He near scored the pinfall several times, but when he went for the Art of Finesse, Hotch caught and transitioned him into a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall.  Hotch has looked very strong of late.  They went back and forth with near fall after near fall but Bey finally use a La Magistral pinfall to score the pinfall.

Your winner, Chris Bey!

The Good Hands and Myers attacked and laid out ABC, standing over them with the Tag Team titles.  Nice to see Skyler and Hotch get some love from creative.

Gia Miller interviewed Heath Miller.  He said he's doing good, but Rhino isn't.  Steve Maclin took him out, so tomorrow at the PPV, Miller plans to win the damn thing and going on to Slammiversary to beat Maclin and become the new Champion.  Tonight's he's going to take out Champagne Singh.

They went to Dirty Dango.  He said that he acted the fool because he was paid a lot of money.  He doesn't need to play the clown anymore, but he'll take the money and keep investing it, just like did he for years and now he has more money then he can ever spend.  He said that if someone wants to pay him not to show up, he's the guy.  He won't complain on Twitter.  He mocked the idea of keeping the Digital Media title after he beats Joe Hendry, saying he would list it on Ebay and sell it.  He said Harley Race wouldn't keep a toy title on his mantle because it would repel women away.  This was absolutely great.

Champagne Singh with Shera vs. Heath Miller.

They slugged it out early.  Heath nailed a leaping forearm smash in the corner.  He was sent to the floor but drilled Shera.  He was grabbed when he went to return, which allowed Singh to kick his leg out from under him.  Singh slammed Miller across the bottom rope and began working over the leg.   Singh worked over Miller's leg and shoulder for some time, but Heath fought back.  He nailed a clothesline off the ropes and a powerslam before nailing The Wakeup Call and scoring the pin.

Your winner, Heath Miller!

The Design cut a promo and said Sami Callihan doesn't know what he's brought out at Against All Odds.  He's going to pay in his home State of Ohio in blood.  Tomorrow, the Design takes everything.

Impact Wrestling Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry vs. Sheldon Jean with Kenny King.

Hendry was in control early on, nailing a DVDR.   Jean gained control and worked over Hendry as they went to commercial.  When they returned, Jean cinched in front chancery while scissoring Hendry's body but the champ was able to fight his way out.  Hendry came back with a cutter and hit his Fall Away Slam.  He went for the Standing Ovation but Kenny King distracted him.  Hendry still avoided a Jean attack, nailing a pop-up powerbomb and the Standing Ovation for the pin.

Your winner, Joe Hendry!

Hendry cut a promo, demanding Dirty Dango come to the ring right now.  Dango came out and did his new character, saying he hated pro wrestling and pro wrestling fans.  He's not going to be tricked into fighting him right now.  He's not going to work on his day off.  Tomorrow, they'll have their match.  He went to leave but Hendry said he didn't ask him to fight.  He wanted to know why Dango has been so cranky so he made a video about it.  It was the latest Hendry music video where he ran down Dango's career and mocked him for all the things that went wrong with his WWE run, labeling him a Divas reject for getting blown off when he was trying to romance Eva Marie and Summer Rae.  That was amusing.

Sheldon Jean and Kenny King nailed Hendry but Santino Marella made the save and Jean was hit with the Cobra.

Gisele Shaw cut a promo saying she took out Jordynne Grace with three Dynamos, and she's out indefinitely.  She said Trinity got an upset victory at Under Siege and rent is due.  She's taking her spotlight back tomorrow and will put Deonna Purrazzo on notice too.  Good promo.

Impact Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Champions The Coven vs. The Death Dollz.

They had a good back and forth bout.  Rush made the hot tag, using a head scissors and a bulldog for a two count.  King interfered to set up a double team attack and pinned Rush.

Your winners and still Knockouts Tag Team Champion The Coven!

They aired a video feature on Alex Shelley's ascension to the top contender of the Impact Wrestling title.

Gia Miller interviewed Impact Wrestling Champion Steve Maclin.  He said Shelley is motivated to become the champion.  Everyone covets the title.  Bully Ray showed up and said he likes Maclin but he doesn't have to worry about the other challengers - just Bully, but not until Slammiversary.

They showed Masha Slamovich attacking several talents with a chain earlier tonight in advance of her chain match tomorrow with Killer Kelly.

Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion Trey Miguel vs. Bhupinder Gujjar

Gujjar looked strong early on, sending Miguel to the floor.  He went for a dive but was drilled as he went through the ropes.  Miguel nailed a great slingshot splash into the ring and a big moonsault for a two count.  Gujjar was dumped to the floor.  Gujjar fought to get back in but was kicked back to the floor.  He finally returned, where Gujjar nailed a knee strike.  He was sent to the outside but held on and returned with some big kicks and a flapjack.

Gujjar went to the ropes for a frog splash but Miguel got out of the way.  Miguel teed up Gujjar and worked him over with stomps and kicks.   Gujjar avoided a Meteora off the ropes but was caught with the Lightning Spiral for the pin.

Your winner, Trey Miguel!

Miguel took the mic and said he was a generation talent but no one gives him the respect he deserves.  Chris Sabin used to be what could be a generational talent but that was then and this is now.  He ran down his accolades and said he will beat Sabin tomorrow and there will be not, "and but..."

Gia Miller interviewed Johnny Swinger.  He praised how great he was and said there isn't anyone better than him.  He said it's everyone else's fault.  He said he sent Zicky Dice to referee's school so he could finally have a stooge in his pocket.

After commercial, they went to a sit-down segment with Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo and Trinity.  Trinity is excited to show off at the PPV.  Purrazzo said many have tried to do that but have failed. Purrazzo said their tag team bout at the PPV will be a chance to scout Trinity.  Trinity said they have bigger fish to fry this weekend.  Deonna said she doesn't plan on losing.  Trinity said they are on the same page for tomorrow but Slammiversary will be a different situation.

Moose & Rich Swann vs. Nick Aldis & Jonathan Gresham

Gresham and Swann started out with some nice back and forth grappling.  After some back and forth action, Moose and Aldis tagged in.  Moose gained the early advantage with some chops and shoulderblocks in the corner.  Aldis gained control and tagged in and out with Gresham, controlling Moose's arm.

Moose regained control and tagged out to Swann.  He worked over Gresham who fired back with forearms.  Moose took out Gresham as he rebounded off the ropes, which Swann wasn't thrilled with.  Moose tagged himself in and torpedoed Gresham into the buckles HARD.

Moose continued to trash Gresham while antagonizing Aldis.  Moose stomped away at Gresham as the referee adominished Aldis.  He tried to illegaly tag Swann, who refused.  Gresham used a victory roll and made the hot tag.  Aldis came in hot, hitting some clotheslines and uppercuts.  Moose kicked off a charge but was still caught with a Michinoku Driver as he went after Aldis.

Gresham and Swann tag in and have some really fun back and forth sequences.  Swann nearly pinned him with the handspring cutter.  Moose and Swann began having words, which allowed Gresham to powerbomb Swann.  Moose had tagged himself in, so he grabbed Gresham and powerbombed him for the win.

Your winners, Moose and Rich Swann!

Swann got in Moose's face.  Gresham nailed Moose, who laid him out.  Moose took out Swann.  Aldis returned but Moose ripped at his eyes.  Heath hit the ring and tossed Moose out.  Aldis and Heath had words and got into it.  Everyone brawled.  Swann was set to nail a dive on everyone but Bully Ray attacked him.  He went for a Bubba bomb but PCO hit the ring.  They brawled.  Bully was sent to the floor.  PCO hit a flip dive on everyone to close the show.
