GOLDBERG, ALL IN, CM PUNK, AEW COLLISION: TONY KHAN MEDIA SCRUM HIGHLIGHTS

By Mike Johnson on 2023-05-29 11:11:00

As I noted last night in my blog, I'm under the weather so my apologies for a short than usual post about the scrum, but here are some highlights from AEW President Tony Khan's post-AEW Double or Nothing media scrum from this morning:

*They signed a new contract with WBD for AEW Collision that pays the company for the series.  The new deal will run concurrent with their existing contract for Dynamite and Rampage and expires at the same time as the current deal.  There was no mention of a new deal with WBD for all the fantastical amounts of money that were rumored online, not that those reports emanated from within AEW to begin with.

*The live gate for AEW: All In currently stands at $8.1 million and 65,000 fans.  Tony Khan said his expectations were in the 50-60K range, so they are beyond that.

*Khan made it clear All In would be available live for fans to watch, but didn't go beyond that.  When asked about how All In and All Out will be broadcast, Khan intimated he had to defer to his broadcast partners and not speak ahead of them but announcements will come as they are timed to come.

Regarding CM Punk in Chicago, Khan basically intimated announcements would be coming as we got closer to Collision on 6/17 but he couldn't answer the questions.

When asked, Khan stated that he's spoken with Bill Goldberg lately, but said what they spoke about was between them.

Khan noted that he was hopeful they could get Jushin Liger to appear in conjunction with the Owen Hart Cup.  Martha Hart gifted Khan the cowboy hat he wore onstage last night during the Buy-In.

Khan stated there was no word yet on a second season of All Access.
