5/21 NJPW BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIORS RESULTS FROM TOKYO

5/21/23 Results from Best of the Super Junior 30 from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:

1 - Titan vs. DOUKI

Titan dazzled with some high flying rope work and hit a tope suicida.  Titan went for an Inmortal but DOUKI got ropes.  DOUKI applies Italian Stretch #32 but Titan gets the ropes.  Titan blocks a Daybreak and hangs DOUKI on the tope rope.  Titan with a Pele Kick and follows with a tope con hilo.   Titan tries for a double stomp but DOUKI counters into Italian Stretch #32.  They exchange reversals.  DOUKI gets him back in the Italian Stretch.   Titan gets the ropes.  DOUKI hits a Daybreak.   Titan kicks out.  They exchange near falls.   Titan applies Inmortal.

DOUKI taps out.

Titan gets to 10 points.

DOUKI has 6 points.

2 - Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Clark Conners

Both heels attack quick and aggressive.   Kanemaru hits two kicks to the knee.  Kanemaru with a knee breaker and a figure four leg lock.  The roll to the floor but Kanemaru does not let go of the hold.  Both men almost counted out.   Kanemaru hits a reverse DDT but misses a moonsault.   They exchange counters.  Conners hits a spear and No Chaser.

Conners pins Kanemaru 

Clark Conners gets to 8 points

Yoshinobu Kanemaru remains at 4 points.

3 - KUSHIDA vs. SHO

SHO promises to wrestle  straight with no shenanigans.  They had a good match till EVIL appeared.  Kevin Knight came out to balance the sides.   KUSHIDA applies the Hoverboard Lock.  

SHO taps out.

KUSHIDA gets to 4 points.

SHO has 6 points.

4 - Master Wato vs. BUSHI

Both exchange aerial moves.   Wato goes for Vendaval.  BUSHI gets to the ropes.   BUSHI with a running Codebreaker.  BUSHI goes for MX but Wato throws a dropkick.  Wato with a spinning high kick.  Wato hits the high angle German suplex.

Wato pins BUSHI

Master Wato gets to 12 points.

BUSHI has 2 points.

5 - Mike Bailey vs. Ryusuke Taguchi

Bailey hammered Taguchi with kicks.  Bailey missed a double knee off the turnbuckle and Taguchi went for an ankle lock.  Bailey rolled to the floor and Taguchi kept attacking the leg.  They exchange kicks and go to the floor. Bailey hits a top rope Asai Moonsault.  Big pop for Bailey from the Korakuen crowd.    Taguchi continues to attack the leg.  Bailey goes for a double knee but Taguchi gets his knees up.  Both men clutching and selling their knees.  Taguchi hits a Bum-aye.   They exchange near falls.  Bailey hits a Crane Kick then a high kick.  Bailey with a spinning round House kick.  Bailey misses Ultimate Weapon and Taguchi get an ankle lock.  Bailey counters into a cradle.  They exchange reversals.   Bailey secures a cradle.

Bailey pins Taguchi.

Mike Bailey gets to 12 points.

Ryusuke Taguchi has 0 points.

Good match.  Taguchi was awesome in the tournament despite no wins.

6 - Robbie Eagles vs. Dan Moloney 

Moloney attacked Eagles and Kosei Fujita before the bell.  They battle on the apron.  Moloney hits a back suplex on the apron.  Moloney hammers Eagles with strikes and kicks.  Eagles hits a Spinebuster and transition to a Ron Miller Special.  Rope break.  Eagles hits a series of kicks.  Moloney drops Eagles with a Gore.  Moloney with a Fisherman Buster.  Two count.

Eagles hits a 619 and a double knee.  Two count.  Eagles with three kicks to the head.  Eagles goes for Sliced Bread #2.  Moloney uses his power to reverse momentum and hit the Drilla Killa.  Wow!!

Moloney pins Eagles.

Dan Moloney gets to 6 points.

Robbie Eagles has 10 points. 

7 - Lio Rush vs. TJP

Both men know each other well and tried to one up the other.  Fast paced match.   They were too fast in some moments where they missed some moves.  Rush was able to hit Rush Hour and the Final Hour.

Rush pins TJP

Lio Rush gets to 12 points.

TJP has 8 points.

Good match.  Both men put on a great show.

8 - YOH vs. Kevin Knight 

YOH goes after the leg of Knight.  Knight with a Frankensteiner.   They go to the floor.  YOH throws Knight into the crowd.  Knight leaps to the upper seating area.   Knight with a flipping senton off the upper seats.  Knight with a top rope splash.  Two count.  YOH with a Falcon Arrow.  Two count.  The exchange reversals.  Knight with Sky High.  Two count.  YOH hits a superkick.  Two count.  YOH hits a Direct Drive.

YOH pins Knight.

YOH gets to 12 points.

Knight has 6 points.

9 - Taiji Ishimori vs Hiromu Takahashi

Both men battle into crowd.  Ishimori threw Hiromu into the aisle ways.  Hiromu is almost counted out.  Ishimori attacks the left arm and rubs him in the ringpost.   Ishimori punishes the arm with kicks and hypertensions.   Hiromu fights back and pace quickens.  Ishimori with a Poisonrana.  Hiromu with a powerbomb.  Ishimori bounced off the mat.   Ishimori looked hurt, holding his neck.  Hiromu hit a lariat.  Hiromu hit another lariat which looked stiff.

The referee checks on Ishimori and calls the match.   Hiromu is declared the winner.

Hiromu Takahashi gets to 12 points.

Taiji Ishimori has 10 points.

They helped Ishimori from ring.  No stretcher.  Ishimori was hurting from his shoulder.   Does not look like a head injury and he walks back to the locker room, which is visually good news.

Disappointed for Ishimori.    Hopefully he is not out for too long.   It was a good decision by the referee to stop the match. 

10 - El Desperado vs. Francesco Akira

Both men fight to the floor.  Desperado kicks at Great O-Khan at ringside.  Akira punches Desperado and puts him on a chair.  Akira hits him with a shotgun dropkick to the chest.  Akira talked trash and mocked Desperado by hitting elbow strikes.  Desperado hits a right punch sending Akira to the floor.  Desperado hits a tope suicida.  Desperado throws Akira like a bowling ball into the crowd, smashing into the chairs.   Desperado grabs chairs and slams Akira on the floor.  Desperado smashes the chairs into Akira’s left leg.  Desperado punishes Akira’s leg with submissions.  Akira stuns him with a double stomp and follows with a lariat.  They battle again to the floor, both men into the crowd.   Akira with a snap German suplex and a 1X1 knee strike.  Two count.   Desperado with a Spinebuster, pinfall attempt, kick out and right into Numero Dos.   Rope break.

TJP comes to cheer is partner on.   Desperado hits Guitarra de Angel.  Two count.  Akira hits a Speedfire.  Two count.  Akira applies the Pinoy Stretch.   Rope break.  Akira hits a Fireplex.  Two count.  Akira misses a Fireball.  Desperado locks in Numero Dos.  Akira does not quit.  TJP does not throw in the towel.  Desperado let go and slams his leg into the mat.  Desperado puts on Numero Dos again.   TJP gets on the apron and throws towel at Desperado.  Akira takes towel from Desperado’s hand and tosses it away.  Crowd pops for this.   

Akira can barely stand and throws elbows.  Desperado hits a right punch and locks Numero Dos again.

Akira taps out.

El Desperado gets to 12 points.

Francesco Akira has 8 points.

Desperado takes the mic and puts over Akira before the Korakuen crowd.

On May 24, the B Block will finish with the undercard to be determined.

 

On May 26, the 1st Place in A Block will face 2nd Place in B Block.   Also,  the 1st place in B Block will face 2nd Place in A Block.  Winners of both matches will face in the tournament final on May 28.
