By Cory Strode on 2023-05-19 21:50:00

It is Friday and AEW Rampage was recorded after AEW Dynamite is at the Moody Center in Austin, TX. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Chris Jericho.

Best Amigos (Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta, and Bandido) vs the Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta)

Mox starts off with Bandido and Mox takes Bandido down with strike and hitting a series of knees. Bandido gets a drop kick and Mox tags in Yuta, and Trent tags in as well. They trade forearms in the middle of the ring. Trent gets an arm drag and follows with a clothesline, and Yuta rolls out of the ring. Chuck works over Yuta on the floor, and Yuta gets a chop block on Chuck. Both men return to the ring and Claudio is tagged in.

Claudio hits a delayed vertical suplex, and the Blackpool Combat Club work over Chuck with quick tags. Chuck is able to tag in Trent, who trades shots with Mox. Trent gets a three suplexes in a row, and Mox trolls to the outside. Claudio and Yuta try to attack and they are sent to the outside so, it’s time for the Best Amigos to fly into them. Mox is tossed into the ring and when Trent comes off the top, Claudio shoves Mox out of the way and hits an uppercut on Trent as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Trent is fighting against Claudio to make the tag. Trent gets a back slide for two, but Claudio is able to bring Trent over to tag in Mox and hits kicks and clotheslines until Trent dodges a charge in the corner and gets a DDT on Mox.

Bandido is tagged in and he cleans house. His flurry ends when he gets a hurricanrana into a two count. Bandido and Claudio throw hands in the middle of the ring. Claudio gets a knee, but Bandido is able to grab Claudio and tries for a stalling vertical suplex. Claudio escapes and tags in Yuta who tries for a cross body and gets caught by Bandido.

Chuck tags in and Bandido hits a vertical suplex on Yuta. Impressive strength on Bandido. Best Friends hit the half and half soul food combination. Before the big hug. Chuck hits a pile driver on Yuta for two. Chuck locks in a seat belt pin and Mox breaks it up. Everyone gets a move on the next person until Chuck gets the quick roll up for two. Claudio shoves Chuck into Mox, who hits a Death Rider, and then Yuta comes over Claudio onto Chuck for the pin and the pin.

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club

We then get a video package about Kyle Fletcher and why he should be the new International Champion.

Jade Cargill (TBS Champion) vs The Already In The Ring Danni Bee

Tony says that Danni has a lot of confidence, and Jade takes her out with the Jaded within 45 seconds.

Winner and still TBS Champion: Jade Cargill

Mark Sterling asks this was the best Texas has to offer and says there is another challenger in the back.

Jade Cargill vs Jennesis

45 seconds later…

Winner: Jade Cargill

Mark calls for someone else to come from the back, and Taya Valkyrie lays out the next challenger and walks to the ring. She takes out Jade and giver her a Ride to Valhalla. She says she will see Jade at Double or Nothing.

The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) and Billy Gunn vs The Varsity Athletes (Josh Woods, Tony Nese, and Ariya Davari)

Bowens starts with Woods, takes him down with an arm bar and works over the arm. Gunn is tagged in and hits a shoulder tackle on Woods. Davari tags in and Gunn almost hits a famouser, but Davari dodges and tags in Nese. Nese gives a muscle pose and when Gunn takes off his shirt, he does it slowly for the crowd pop. Nese pops Billy in the face, but when he comes off the ropes, Bill hits a sidewalk slam and we are off to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Caster hits a desperation clothesline on Woods and crawls for the tag while Gunn is beating up Davari on the outside. Bowens is tagged in and he cleans house. He ends it with a famouser on Nese for two, broken up by Woods. Gunn tosses Woods into the barricade on the outside, and in the ring, gets a spinning kick, but has no one to tag in. Bowens tags in Caster and they hit the Arrival and the Mic Drop for the pin and the win.

Winners: The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn.

Next up is QTV. They are in the AEW International Battle Royal. I then lapsed into a coma and missed nothing.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and he brings out the Hardys with Brother Zay (Isaiah Kassidy). He asks them about the ladder match vs Ethan Page and the Gunns at the PPV. Matt says if they win, they get Ethan Page’s contract. Page comes from the back and says he is by himself. He says he didn’t want to keep this going and they are done. He then talks about how he supported Brother Zay and they were great friends and they should be a tag team.

He asks to hug it out and hugs Brother Zay and then forcibly shakes his hand. He tries for another hug and the Gunns hit the ring with chairs. They leave the Hardy’s laying. Page wraps the chair around Zay’s neck and comes off the second rope onto the chair. Page then says he will see them at Double or Nothing.

Chris Jericho then takes time to calls Adam Cole a coward and it took two of them to beat him. And if Cole was here, he would beat Cole’s ass. We see Cole on camera and he says he will make Jericho’s life a living hell and there’s nothing Jericho can do about it. Jericho challenges Cole to an unsanctioned match and Cole is allowed in the building again. Cole then charges into the building and we go to commercial.

When we come back, Cole charges to Jericho’s position at commentary. Jericho leaves commentary and they throw hands. Security and referees pull them apart.

Mark Henry tells us about the main event, no interview this time.

Dustin Rhodes w/Keith Lee vs Bishop Kaun w/Prince Nana

Kaun attacks Rhodes before the bell. Dustin comes off the ropes with a double chop and clotheslines Kaun out of the ring. Dustin follows and they brawl on the floor. Kaun tosses Dustin back in the ring. Kaun gets in some strikes before Dustin gets the reverse atomic drop. He tries to come off the ropes, but Nana grabs his foot, allowing Kaun to get a swing and a miss. Kaun grabs Dustin and tosses him through the ropes into the camera and then to the outside.

And Dustin is busted open in case you forgot he does that a lot.

We go to picture in picture. When we return to full screen, Kaun hits a slam and covers for one. Dustin fires up and calls for Kaun to strike him, and after they do nothing. Dustin takes Kaun down with strikes and then hits the power slam. Dustin hits a series of right hands in the corner, but Kaun escapes by pulling Dustin’s leg. Dustin is able to get a Code Red for two.

Dustin gets a pile driver for two. Dustin hits a series of strikes and tries for a suplex, but but Kaun escapes and gets a back body drop for two. Kaun hits a shotgun drop kick into the corner. Kaun charges in and Dustin gets out of the way. Dustin hits a bulldog and final reckoning for the pin and the win.

Winner: Dustin Rhodes

Brian Cage hits the ring as the bell rings and after taking out Dustin, Swerve Strickland comes to the ring. Kieth Lee comes from the back, and he takes out Kaun and Cage and keeps coming to the ring. Swerved takes off his jacket. Cage and Kaun attack Lee from behind and then Swerve goes up to the top. Kaun uses a chair on Lee back and Cage hits an F10 on the chair. Lee is set up in the chair and Swerve hits a stomp on Lee. Mogul Associates are standing tall as we are desperately out of time.
