TRINITY MAKES IN-RING DEBUT, SIX MAN TAG, SANTINO ATTACKER REVEALED, TREY TIRED OF DISRESPECT & MORE: IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2023-05-18 22:00:00

Welcome to the Impact Wrestling on AXS TV report!

We see a review of everything leading to tonight.

X-Division Champion Trey Miguel vs. Laredo Kid

Some really good back and forth action early on.  Laredo nailed a dive.  The crowd was really behind him.  They battled on the floor before returning, where Miguel cut off Laredo and used a really unique sequence where he rolled backwards out of the ring, landed on his feet and then swung with kicks to take Laredo, standing on the apron, out.  Miguel worked over Laredo in the ring for some time.

Laredo made a comeback and exchanged forearms with Miguel.  They smashed each other with some stiff back elbows.  Miguel fired away with kicks but Laredo caught him with a leaping DDT that spiked Miguel atop his head.  The crowd in Chicago chanted for Kid, but he was only able to score a two count.  This is a really good bout.

They battled to the floor again.   They returned to the ring, where Miguel nailed a flipping kick to the back of the head for a close near fall.  The battle continued until Miguel snatched Laredo's mask and pulled it off.  Helpless to fight back without revealing his identity, Laredo was pinned.

Your winner, X-Division Champion Trey Miguel!

Miguel took the mic and said he was going to hold the promotion and the building hostage until he gets the respect he deserves.  After a commercial break, Chris Sabin came out to confront him.  Sabin said you only get what you give and Miguel disrespected the title when he won it by spray painting it and disrespected everyone who worked hard to make the title mean something - AJ Styles, The Amazing Red, Mike Bailey, Low Ki, Josh Alexander, everyone who ever held the title.  Sabin said if he wants respect, he better give it.

Miguel asked if he came out here to give him a lecture.  Sabin said he's one half of the best tag team of all time, The Machine Guns and has held the World and X-Division title.  He's showing him respect by coming out to tell him that he's going to beat his ass at Under Siege and become the first-ever nine-time X-Division Champion, because he's "Chris Sabin, b**ch."

He told Miguel to get the hell out of his ring.    Miguel, pissed, walked away.

Jai Vidal told Trinity that he's getting heat because Gisele saw it.  Trinity told her to come deal with Trinity directly.  Vidal said that Gisele is hurt and won't be cleared until next week.  Trinity said she has an open contract at Under Siege and suggested she fight her then.  Vidal went to speak with Shaw.

They aired a video piece on Rich Swann and Sami Callihan, talking about their respective history together.  This was great.

Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions Bullet Club's Ace Austin with Chris Bey vs. The Good Hands' Jason Hotch with Brian Myers.

Myers cut a promo saying he was mentoring The Good Hands.

Hotch and Austin wrestled back and forth.  Hotch shoulderblocked Austin down.  Austin used a drop toehold and then a kick to the spine.  Austin grappled and held Hotch down on the mat, cinching in a head scissors.  Hotch made it to the ropes.  They battled back and forth.  Hotch chopped away at Austin in the corner.  Austin fired back but Hotch continued to maintain control.

Hotch drilled Austin with a back elbow as he charged, snatched him into a Thunder Bomb for a close two count.

They battled back and forth with right hands.  Ace gained control and set up for the Fold but Myers got on the apron.  John Skyler pulled Austin out and was decked by Bey.  Hotch nailed a standing Spanish Fly for a two count.  Austin went for a rollup but Hotch kicked out.  As Austin was propelled to the ropes, Myers decked him, allowing Hotch to roll him up and score the pin.

Your winner, Jason Hotch!

Impact Champion Steve Maclin told Mahabali Shera and Champagne Singh that he was ready to be done with them but they redeemed themselves last week.  He told them going forward, they follow orders and don't ask questions.  They understood.

Jordynne Grace was interviewed by Gia Miller about Deonna Purrazzo being banged up after the match with The Coven and accidentally drilling her last week.  Grace said she wants Deonna at her best and what happened was an accident.  Alisha Edwards showed up and told her that she's not fooling everyone and she knows it was on purpose.  Grace teased hitting her so Alisha backed off but told her to keep lying to everyone.

Trinity vs. KiLynn King.

Trinity received a big, excited star reaction from the live crowd.

King has a hell of a lot of poise for someone who's relatively new to being a regular on a weekly TV series.

Some nice, athletic action early.  Trinity nailed a split legdrop on King that got a big pop.  King cut her off after a charge in the corner.  Taylor Wilde interfered, distracting Trinity.  That allowed King to maintain control for some time, locking in a body scissors and a chinlock.  Trinity fought her way out but was clotheslined and cut off for another two count.  Trinity fought back but was sent upside down with a suplex.

Wilde interfered and was finally caught and ejected.  They battled on the top rope.  Trinity fought her off and nailed a big flying bodypress.  Trinity nailed a Blockbuster off the top for another two count.    King was caught with a DDT variation in the ropes for a two count. Really damn entertaining.

King came back with a DDT of her own for a close near fall.   Trinity used a springboard into a sunset flip into her Starstruck submission.  King gave up.

Your winner, Trinity!

Gisele Shaw's music played and Jai Vidal came on stage.  Gisele Shaw, not Trinity, is the hottest thing in the world.  Gisele has a message for Trinity.  She accepts the challenge for Under Siege.  That match is official.  Trinity said she will see her at Under Siege.

Maclin and his minions attacked PCO somewhere.  Shera chokeslammed him on the floor.  They kept beating him down and left him laying.

Backstage, Jessicka was still waiting for Rosemary to return with the Undead Realm.  The Coven mocked her for waiting.  Jessicka said she was told to wait and was told the door was sealed with magic.  They offered to open it.  Jessicka said that Rosemary said she's not powerful enough.  The Coven said she better buckle up for what's coming and they walked off.  Jessicka looked into an hour glass, worried.

Jody Threat vs. Sierra

A spotlight match for Threat. She nailed a seated senton off the top.  Sienna nailed a jawbreaker but ate a stiff clothesline.  Sienna was sent into the ropes, where Threat drilled her with a pair of knees to the back and hit a German suplex.  Threat nailed her version of the F5, the 416, and scored the pin.

Your winner, Jody Threat!

Eddie Edwards confronted Kazarian and told him to follow Eddie's lead tonight.  Kazarian mockingly agreed and said he hopes this goes better than Honor No More did.

Dirty Dango was continuing his investigation into the attack on Santino Marella.  Swinger and Zicky Dice were with him.  He said they are idiots and couldn't have been behind it.  They tried to imply it was Joe Hendry, who appeared when they said his name.  He denied it was him.  He said that as Digital Media Champion, he wasn't dealing with this.  He tried to walk off but Dango stopped him and they got into it.  Dango's shirt was ripped and it was revealed he was the one who attacked Santino.  He slammed Joe into the wall and said, Case Closed Boys.

Moose & Eddie Edwards & Frankie Kazarian vs. Alex Shelley & Jonathan Gresham & Yuya Uemura.

Alex Shelley and Eddie Edwards started, going back and forth trying to out-wrestle the other before facing off.  Moose and Yuya tagged in.   Moose tried to muscle him but Yuya fought right back an evaded him before taking him down with a hiptoss into an armbar.

Kazarian tagged in but was controlled.  Gresham tagged in but Kazarian was able to reverse the momentum and scored several near falls.  Edwards tagged in but so did Shelley.  Shelley and Gresham double teamed him.  Edwards was locked in a crossface but made it to the ropes.

Team Gresham took control after he nailed a dive to the outside.  After a commercial break, Yuya nailed a suplex.  Moose got involved but Shelley fought him off.  Moose pulled him out of the ring and slammed him on the apron before dumping him back in.  That allowed Eddie to tag out to Kazarian.  Team Edwards began tagging in and out, maintaining control on Shelley.

Edwards locked on a sleeper.  Shelley fought out but was hit with the Boston Knee Party.  Yuya finally got the tag and cleaned house on everyone.  Yuya nailed a top rope bulldog on Moose and a big suplex on Edwards for a two count.  Moose cut him off and nailed a big standing powerbomb for a two count.  He missed a spear, allowing Gresham to tag in.  It was David vs. Goliath, literally.  Gresham took him down but was kicked off.  He attacked Moose's leg.  Kazarian tagged in and they had some nice exchanges.  Shelley tagged in and it continued.  Kazarian nailed the springboard legdrop and went for the chicken wing but it was avoided.  Kazarian nailed  DDT and went for the crossface chicken wing again but Edwards wanted in.  He got a DDT for his troubles.

All sorts of entertaining chaos.  Moose went to powerbomb Gresham on the floor but Yuya hit a bodypress from the top rope.  Edwards and Kazarian got into it.  Kazarian clotheslined him but was nailed and tossed out.  Shelley drilled Edwards and scored the pin.

Your winners, Alex Shelley & Jonathan Gresham & Yuya Uemura!
