I am happy to pass along that WWE's one and only recognized Official Superfan Vladimir Abouzeide, who has been battling Parkinson's disease, was officially released from the hospital over the weekend after undergoing a massive spinal surgery on 5/4. He is actually a little ahead of schedule based on when he was originally expected to be release.
As we noted several weeks ago, Vladimir underwent a four hour spinal surgery in NYC that required four surgeons working on him at the same time. He is told that the surgery was successful, but will require 4-6 weeks of physical therapy once he is healed enough to begin that process. That will begin this week.
The hope is that he'll have an easier time walking and dealing with balance issues brought on by Parkinsons post-surgery.
As a matter of full disclosure, Vladimir is one of my best friends in the world and with his permission, I wanted to update everyone on how he is doing.
Obviously, I and everyone here at the site are wishing Vlad a quick and painless recovery so he can get back to doing what he loves the most, watching professional wrestling*.
*HEY WWE, that should include his documentary. Release the damn thing already!
