James Gunn's excellent Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3, which was designed to close out this iteration of Marvel's cosmic team and is expected to be Dave Bautista's final performance as Drax The Destroyer has topped $475 million worldwide at the box office, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.
The film has brought in $213,201,178 million in the United States.
Internationally, it has brought in $262,512,072 million more.
Thus far, the film has garnered $475,713,250 as of Sunday.
The film will break $500 million this week and has been the biggest superhero film of the post-COVID era in terms of holding an audience over multiple weeks. In terms of holding an audience, it's one of the strongest since Black Panther back in 2018.
The plot of the film - "Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill must rally his team to defend the universe and protect one of their own. If the mission is not completely successful, it could possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."
The film is Bautista's seventh outing as Drax, following the first two Guardians films, appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder and the Disney+ Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which serves as the lead-in to GOTG Vol. 3.
