5/14/23 Results of the Best of the Super Juniors 30 from Aichi, Japan:
1 - Kevin Knight vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Knight takes Kanemaru out of the ring with a high flying barn drag. Knight goes for a plancha but Kanemaru gets out of the way. Kanemaru dropkicks him in the knee then slams his knee on the floor. Back in the ring, Kanemaru bangs his knee off the canvas and stomps on his leg. Kanemaru applies the figure four. Knight gets to the ropes. Knight fights back with elbows and hits a dropkick. Knight with a Stinger Splash. Kanemaru kicks him and climbs to the top rope. Knight leaps to the top rope, but Kanemaru slides out. Knight with a flying body press then a Sky High for a two count.
Kanemaru goes for the figure four again, but Knight with an inside cradle two count. Knight favors the knee but was able to hit a Frankensteiner off the top rope. Knight with a superkick and follows with his high angle DDT.
Knight pins Kanemaru.

2 - Ryusuke Taguchi vs. SHO
Before the match, SHO takes the mic and ask Taguchi if he is going to have a serious match. Taguchi agrees. SHO hands his wrench to the referee. Crowd pops with surprise. SHO takes off his robe and he is wearing a Hontai T-Shirt. Even bigger pop of surprise. He folds the shirt respectfully and hangs it over the turnbuckle.
They lock up and push each other to the ropes. SHO makes a clean break. They exchange shoulder tackles. SHO looks like the SHO from CHAOS. SHO goes to the floor and Taguchi with a springboard plancha. They exchange strikes. They exchange submission moves. Taguchi with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Two count. Taguchi applies the ankle lock. SHO struggles for the ropes but Taguchi has the pressure on. SHO uses momentum and pulls Taguchi into the referee who bumps to the floor.
Lights go out.
Lights back on and EVIL is standing in the ring. Taguchi is struggling to his feet. SHO is clutching his ankle. EVIL asks them if they can continue. EVIL tells them to fight, as if he is now the referee of the match.
Taguchi is confused but gets the crowd to cheer for them. EVIL stops to check Taguchi for weapons. SHO sneaks up behind and low blows Taguchi. Crowd is angry. EVIL gives SHO his wrench and SHO laughs with glee and blasts Taguchi in the head. EVIL throws the referee in the ring. SHO hits a Shock Arrow.
SHO pins Taguchi.
SHO earns 2 points.
Ryusuke Taguchi has 0 points.
It was good match without Taguchi’s butt comedy and SHO’s cheating. Both men showed that they can still wrestle a good match when they need to.
EVIL and SHO stomp on Taguchi after the match. Young lions come in to help Taguchi but EVIL and SHO beat them down. SHO gets a pair of scissors and cuts Taguchi’s and Hontai’s t-shirt. Crowd is disgusted.
3 - BUSHI vs. Clark Conners
Conners attacks BUSHI with a shoulder tackle. Conners takes him to the floor and throws him into the turnbuckle. Back in the ring, Conners locks BUSHI in a double arm choke submission. BUSHI gets free and goes for a running attack but Conners comes off a side rope with a Jeep Flip. BUSHI hits a dropkick to the knee. Conners goes to the floor. BUSHI hits a tope suicida. BUSHI hits a DDT. Two count. Conners with a powerslam. BUSHI with a cradle pin for a two count but Conners counters with a spear. Conners hits No Chaser.
Conners pins BUSHI.

4 - DOUKI vs. Taiji Ishimori
They quickly went to the floor. Ishimori ran DOUKI’s shoulder into the ring post. Ishimori went for flying tackle but DOUKI sucked, sending Ishimori to the floor. DOUKI with a tope suicida. DOUKI with a double stomp. Two count. Ishimori throws him shoulder first into the ringpost, then follows with a shoulder breaker. Ishimori sets up for La Mistica but DOUKI counters into the Italian Stretch #32. Ishimori gets the ropes. Ishimori blocks a Daybreak. DOUKI blocks a Cipher UTAKI. Ishimori avoids a Suplex de La Luna. DOUKI picks up Ishimori in a reverse Samoan Drop. Two count. DOUKI applies Italian Stretch #32 again. Rope break.
DOUKI hits a Daybreak. Two count. DOUKI goes for another Suplex de La Luna but Ishimori reverses into an arm breaker. They exchange strikes. DOUKI hits an Ax Bomber. They exchange reversals. Ishimori applies the Bone Lock. DOUKI reaches for the ropes. Ishimori rolls to the middle.
DOUKI taps out.

5 - Robbie Eagles vs. Francesco Akira
Fast paced high spot match. Too much to recap here. Eagles hit a chop block and kicks to the chest. Eagles applied the Ron Miller Special. Rope break. They trade suplexes. Akira counters the Turbo Backpack into a Poisonrana. Eagles hits a flying elbow to the head. They exchange elbows. Eagles with a double knee. Akira with a shotgun dropkick. Akira with a 1X1. Two count. They exchange a bunch of near falls. Eagles hits a Turbo Backpack. Two count. Eagles hits a superkick and a double knee. Eagles misses with a 450 splash. Akira hits a Fireball.
Akira pins Eagles.

6 - KUSHIDA vs. Titan
KUSHIDA made Titan chase him around the ring. When they got to ring, KUSHIDA kicked him in the left arm. KUSHIDA, again looking heelish, attacked Titan’s arm with kicks and strikes. Titan hit a tornado DDT. Titan with a flipping plancha. Titan followed with a double stomp.
Titan pins KUSHIDA.

7 - YOH vs. Dan Moloney
Moloney chased YOH outside the ring. YOH hammered him with chops. Moloney hit a brainbuster. They exchange stiff strikes. Back and forth match. Moloney hits a Gore and followed with a Drilla Killa.

8 - TJP vs. Mike Bailey
A lot of one-upsmanship at the start. Some playful mocking by both men. Bailey hit rapid fire kicks and high kick to the face. TJP goes to the floor. He pulls Bailey to the floor. TJP goes for a springboard dropkick but misses and Bailey kicks him in the chest. TJP gets control after a sleeper choke in the ropes and a senton. TJP with a face wash. Bailey counters with a dropkick and a running shooting star press. Two count. Nice sequence with Bailey hitting a tope rope moonsault. Bailey misses Ultimate Weapon and TJP applies the Pinoy Stretch. Rope break. They exchange kicks. TJP goes for a sunset flip. Bailey blocks it and hits a flipping double knee.
TJP hits a tornado DDT and follows with top rope springboard DDT. Two count. TJP goes for the Mamba Splash but Bailey escapes. Bailey with a spinning roundhouse kick. Bailey puts TJP on the top rope and hits a Flamingo Driver. Wow.
Bailey pins TJP.

9 - El Desperado vs. Master Wato
Both men kept to the mat and traded strikes. Wato choosing to fight the style of Desperado. Wato goes to the neck with head scissors submission. Desperado hits two suplexes. Desperado blocks a kick and locks in Numero Dos. Rope break. Wato with a leg lariat. Desperado to the floor. Wato with a tope con hilo. Wato with a springboard uppercut. Wato with a Code Red. Two count. Wato transitions to Vendeval. Nice! Desperado gets the ropes.
They exchange reversals. Wato hits TTD. Wato misses an RPP. Desperado hits a spear. Desperado with Guitarra de Angel. Two count. They reverse out of their finishers. Desperado hits a right punch. Desperado hits Pinche Loco.
Desperado pins Wato.
El Desperado earns 4 points.

10 - Lio Rush vs. Hiromu Takahashi
Match was even until Hiromu hit a German suplex on a fan’s chair. Rush was screaming in pain. Hiromu with a lariat and a dropkick to the face. Two count. Hiromu gets a leg scissors and Rush gets the ropes. Rush hits three tope suicidas on Hiromu. Hiromu almost gets counted out. They trade strikes. Rush with airplane spin and a DVD. Hiromu hits a running DVD of his own. Hiromu hits a DVD on the ring apron. Hiromu with a Dynamite Plunger. Two count. Pace picks up. Rush with a splash from the second rope. Rush goes for Final Hour but Hiromu gets his knees up. Rush counters out of a Time Bomb and hits a spinning elbow. Rush hits a Spanish Fly and a cutter. Rush goes to the top rope for Final Hour but Hiromu hits a cutter of his own.
Hiromu goes for Time Bomb but Rush hits a Poisonrana, and follows with Rush Hour. Hiromu hits the Final Hour. Hiromu kicks out at two. They battle to the top rope. Rush hits another Final Hour.
Rush pins Hiromu.
Lio Rush earns 6 points.
Hiromu Takahashi has 2 points.
Rush takes the mic and thanks the fans and calls them his “family”.
