5/13 NJPW BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIOR DAY TWO REPORT FROM NAGANO, JAPAN

5/13/23 Results from the Best of the Super Juniors 30 from Nagano, Japan:

1 - TJP vs. KUSHIDA

Both began with armlocks and headlocks, looking for an advantage.   Both tried to one up on the other with matching moves.  TJP hammerlocked the right arm and snap stretched the left arm.  TJP with an Indian Death Lock.  TJP with face wash.  KUSHIDA tried a lariat but TJP reverses into a Octopus Lock.   They exchange variations of the Cobra Twist.  KUSHIDA with a shotgun dropkick.   Then a hammerlock cradle pin.  TJP kicks out at two.  They grappled on the mat and went for their submission finishers. TJP rolls up KUSHIDA into a inside cradle.

TJP pins KUSHIDA.

TJP earns 2 points.

KUSHIDA remains at 0 points.

2 - Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Dan Moloney

They began with strikes and chops.   Moloney with a snap suplex.  Moloney hammered Kanemaru with chops.  Kanemaru with a knee breaker and went for a figure four but Moloney hit another chop.  They exchanged reversals but Kanemaru locked in the figure four.   

Moloney taps out.

Yoshinobu Kanemaru earns 4 points total.

Dan Moloney remains at 2 points.

3 - Lio Rush vs. Ryusuke Taguchi

Rush used his speed to avoid Taguchi’s attacks.  Taguchi goes to the floor.  Rush hits 2 tope sucidas into Taguchi.   Rush goes for the Final Hour but Taguchi gets his knees up. Taguchi hits a lariat and a Dodon.  Two count.  Taguchi misses a twisting splash.  Rush plants Taguchi with a spinning sit down powerbomb.  Rush hits Rush Hour and follows with Final Hour.

Rush pins Taguchi

Lio Rush earns 4 points.

Ryusuke Taguchi has 0 points.

4 - Clark Conners vs. Robbie Eagles

Eagles put Conners in the Ron Miller Special very quickly but he gets to the ropes.   Conner throws Eagles with a German suplex.  Conners throws Eagles into the ring post and suplexes him on the floor.  Conners throws him in the corner and hits a lariat.   Conners with a full nelson.  Eagles gets out and hits a back suplex and a running knee.  Eagles with a Sliced Bread #2.  He goes for a Ron Miller Special again but Conners kicks him off and hits a Spear. 

Conners hits a second spear.  Conners was about to go for No Chaser.  But Eagles slapped him in the face, weakly.  Conners thinks he has the match and goes to pickup Eagles.   Eagles quickly rolls up Conners in a cradle pin.

Eagles pins Conners.

Robbie Eagles earns 4 points

Clark Conners has 2 points.

5 - SHO vs. Mike Bailey

As Bailey makes his entrance, SHO attacks him with a chair.  SHO smashes Bailey’s foot with a chair.  SHO takes Bailey to the ring and rakes at his face.   Crowd boos SHO loudly.   Bailey fights back with a superkick to the chin.   SHO escapes to the floor.  Bailey hits rapid fire kicks and one last kick to the face.   Bailey goes to top rope.  EVIL comes to the ring and pushes him off the top.  SHO mauls Bailey.  Bailey fights back with chops. SHO stomps on his foot and Bailey rolls to the floor.  EVIL hits Bailey with a chair in the gut and throws him in the ring.  SHO goes for the pin but Bailey kicks out.  Bailey kicks SHO in the face.  Bailey goes to the ropes for an aerial attack but EVIL trips him up. 

SHO pounds on Bailey in the corner but Bailey hits a shotgun dropkick.   Bailey goes to the ropes and kicks EVIL before he can do anything.   Bailey springboards off the ropes with a moonsault onto SHO on the floor.  Bailey hits a triple kick combination and a running shooting star press.   Two count.  EVIL jumps on the apron, distracting Bailey.  SHO hits a German Suplex.  SHO hits a lariat.  Two count.   SHO with a cross arm piledriver.   Two count.   Bailey hits a kick to the chest and a a flipping double knees onto SHO. 

SHO stomps on Bailey’s foot then throws Bailey into the referee.   SHO grabs his wrench and hits Bailey’s foot.  He grinds the wrench into Bailey’s foot.  SHO is about to attempt a leg submission but Bailey rolls him up in a cradle pin.   As the referee was about to count 3, he is pulled from the ring by EVIL.
They both stomp on Bailey.  While EVIL is holding Bailey, SHO goes for his wrench.  Bailey kicks EVIL in the face.  Bailey gets to his feet and sees SHO with the wrench.   

Bailey gets into the Crane Position (from Karate Kid).  SHO pauses for a second the Bailey hits a Crane Kick to the face.   Bailey hits a spinning roundhouse kick to EVIL.  Another spinning roundhouse to SHO.   Bailey hits the Ultimate Weapon on SHO.

Bailey pins SHO

Mike Bailey earns 4 points.

SHO has 0 points.

6 - Francesco Akira vs. Kevin Knight

Akira attacks at the bell.  Knight fights back with elbows.  Akira goes to the floor. Knight hits a plancha.  Back in the ring, Knight puts Akira on the top rope.  Knight leaps to the top but Akira gets out and pushes Knight off the top and hangs Knight in the Tree of Woe.  Akira runs full speed and kicks Knight in the face.   Two count only.  Akira with a neck breaker.   Akira with a hammerlock and a leg takedown into a submission.  Knight escapes and they trade strikes.  Knight with a dropkick and a Sky High.  Two count. They trade super kicks.  Akira rolled up onto Knight’s shoulders into a powerbomb position.  But Akira turned it into a big DDT.   Knight kicks out at two. 

Akira misses a Fireball, but uses his speed to get near fall cradles on Knight.   Akira goes to the second rope.   Knight hits a Frankensteiner.    Knight goes for a splash off the top rope but Akira gets his knees up.   Akira follows with a 1X1 (Shining Wizard).  Knight kicks out at two.   Akira hits Speedfire.  Akira follows with Fireball.

Akira pins Knight.

Francesco Akira earns 2 points.

Kevin Knight has 0 points.

7 - Taiji Ishimori vs. Titan

The match started with speed both men dashing around the ring.   Titan dazzled with his athleticism.   The flashiness disappeared when Ishimori ran Titan’s shoulder into the ring post.  Ishimori slowed things down and attacked the shoulder with submissions. 

Titan fought back and hit a tope suicida to the floor.  Pace picks up.  Titan moves with lots of speed.  Too much to recap here.  Titan picked up Ishimori on his shoulders and slammed him to the mat.  Two count.  Titan went to the top rope for a double stomp.  But Ishimori escaped.   Ishimori goes for La Mistica and traps him in the Bone Lock.

Titan taps out.

Taiji Ishimori earns 4 points.

Titan has 2 points.

8 - BUSHI vs. El Desperado

BUSHI quickly went after Desperado’s leg which was hurt last night against Kanemaru.  BUSHI focused on his attack on the leg with strikes and submissions.    Desperado tries to switch momentum with a suplex but BUSHI kept pressure on the injured leg.  Desperado had a hard time getting move together.  BUSHI hit a Codebreaker and Back Cracker.  Desperado fights on.  Desperado goes for a school boy pin, BUSHI kicks out and Desperado applies Numero Dos.   BUSHI reverses into a cradle.  Two count.   Desperado hits Guitarra de Angel.  Two count.   BUSHI reverses out of Pinche Loco and hits a quick dropkick.  BUSHI was going for a powerbomb, but Desperado reverses out and traps him in El Es Culero.

Desperado pins BUSHI.

El Desperado earns 2 points.

BUSHI has 0 points.

9 - DOUKI vs. Hiromu Takahashi

DOUKI came out with new colors and a new robe.  And no metal pipe.

DOUKI attacks Hiromu at the bell.  DOUKI hits two DDTs on the floor.  Hiromu almost gets counted out.  DOUKI hits a neck breaker.  Two count.  Hiromu fights back with some quick dropkicks.   Back and forth match with DOUKI hitting his big moves and Hiromu kicking out and countering.  DOUKI with the Italian Stretch #32.  Hiromu gets the ropes.   Hiromu hit a running DVD in the turnbuckle.   Hiromu with a Dynamite Plunger. Two count.  Hiromu goes for Time Bomb but DOUKI reverses into a pin.  Two count.  DOUKI goes back to the Italian Stretch #32.   Hiromu escapes but DOUKI gets a backslide but Hiromu kicks out.  DOUKI goes back to Italian Stretch #32.  Hiromu gets to the ropes.   DOUKI hits a Daybreak.  Two count.  DOUKI goes for Suplex de La  Luna, but Hiromu reverses into a Flatliner.  They exchange reversals.  DOUKI hits an Ax Bomber.   DOUKI hit another Ax Bomber.  DOUKI hit a spinning backbreaker.  Hiromu kicks out.   Hiromu grabs DOUKI and hits a Time Bomb.

Hiromu pins DOUKI.

Hiromu Takahashi earns 2 points.

DOUKI has 0 points,

10 - YOH vs. Master Wato

Another evenly matched pair of babyfaces.  YOH slowly became an antagonist by having some attitude and needling Wato.   YOH was stomping on Wato and trash talking.  Wato hit a high kick.  YOH goes to the floor.  Wato hits a tope con hilo on YOH.  Wato throws YOH in the ring.  Wato hits Recientemente.   Two count.   Wato traps YOH in Vendaval.  YOH rolls Wato into a pin.  Two count.  YOH hits a dropkick. YOH twists Wato’s leg with a Dragon Screw.  YOH hits a Superplex.  Wato with a springboard uppercut.  The trade strikes.  They exchange reversals.  YOH hits a Poisonrana, a superkick and a lariat.  YOH hits a Direct Drive.

YOH pins Wato.

YOH earns 2 points.

Master Wato has 2 points.
