CAGE MATCH, DOUBLE JEOPARDY, OLD FACES RETURN & MORE: COMPLETE AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

It is Wednesday and AEW Dynamite is at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI. Our commentary team is Excalbur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone.

Claudio Castagnoli (Ring of Honor Champion) vs Rey Fenix Double Jeopardy Match

Whoever wins gets a shot at the other man’s title (Rey being one half of the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions)

Claudio knocks down Rey who pops right back up. Claudio does it again and grabs a leg, but Rey is up and out of it. Claudio tries for a monkey flip, but Rey lands on his feet. Claudio goes for a gut wrench suplex and Rey is able to reverse it and they go to the corner. Rey comes out of the corner into a tilt a whirl suplex from Claudio. Claudio gets a back breaker and then runs into kicks from Rey in the corner. Rey hits a springboard Hurricanrana and when Claudio rolls out of the ring, Rey hits two dives on him.

When Rey goes for a third, Claudio grabs him and drops him on the barricade. Claudio grabs a vertical suplex and starts to climb the steel steps, but Rey kicks his way free and they brawl outside the ring. Rey gets a Hurricanrana after walking the barricade. Rey rolls into the ring and Claudio follows him and hits a fireman’s suplex for two. Claudio puts Rey on his shoulders and goes to the top. Rey is able to escape and t hey fight on the top with Rey knocking Claudio to the mat for two. 

Claudio counters a Code Red and hits a clothesline for two. Rey goes to the floor and Claudio follows and gorilla presses him into the crowd as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Claudio gets an uppercut in the corner. Rey dodges a charge into the corner and goes to the top, but Claudio gets a gut wrench off the second turnbuckle for two. They trade chops and uppercuts in the middle fo the ring and Rey drops Claudio with a hook kick. Rey misses a leaping kick in the corner, but gets a cutter on Cladio for two. Claudio goes to the floor and Rey hits a standing moonsault from the top turnbuckle to the floor onto Claudio.

When they return to the ring, Claudio leaps into an uppercut for two. Claudio goes for a Ricola bomb and Rey turns it into a Code Red for two. They trade blows again and Rey gets a mule kick for two. Rey deadlifts Claudio, but Claudio escapes and hits a fireman’s carry suplex for two. Claudio hits the hammer and anvil elbows and Claudio hits the Ricola bomb for the pin and the win.

Winner and getting a ROH Tag Team Championship Shot: Claudio Castagnoli

The cameras are in the back and Miro is there. He goes into Tony Khan’s office and brushes by Lexi.

We get a taped promo from MJF and he talks about how all four of the men in the Double or Nothing main event, and he compares them to the Beatles. Sammy is goofy like Ringo, Jungle Boy is like George, Darby Allin is moody like John, and he’s like Paul, the one who will have the longest and most successful career. He tells us that his reign of terror has just begun. 

We get a video hyping the history between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley.

FTR comes to the ring in street clothes. Dax says that they owe an apology to Mark Briscoe, and we get Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal’s music. They come to  the ring with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh. Sonjay asks if they accept their challenge at Double or Nothing. Dax asks the crowd if they want them to accept, and the crowd cheers. Dax says he will accept the challenge if they admit to using Mark Briscoe.

Sonjay says Mark is their friend. Mark comes from the back. He says they all have a hard time controlling their emotions and in Vegas he will be the special referee. He hands cups to everyone and tells them they need a toast. Sonjay spits the liquid at FTR and everyone is brawling. Jarrett tosses Mark at Dax, who pile drives him because he couldn’t see due to the alcohol.

In the back, Renee Paquette is with Jericvho and she asks how he feels about how he feels about Adam Cole getting the best of him. Jericho says now he has a court order, and if he is in the building, Cole si banned. 

Roderick Strong enters and says that he’s not banned from the building, so why doesn’t he face him in a falls count anywhere fight. Jericho accepts and reminds him he has a whole army behind him. Roddy says he also has legal council and the JAS is banned from the building during their fight.

Renee is outside Tony Khan’s office to get a word with Miro and then Thunder Rosa goes in the office. 

We get a video about Sammy Guevara with Jericho putting him over and he’s born to do this to show he is ready to be world champion.

We then get Tony Khan who puts over tonight’s card. He says stars are lined up looking for opportunities and next week there will be a huge announcement about that. Since that is al;so when the Warner’s Upfront presentation will be, it’s most likely the Saturday Show being officially announced.

Orange Cassidy (AEW International Champion) vs  Daniel Garcia

Cassidy takes down Garcia as soon as the bell rings, and Garcia works his way to his feet and takes down Cassidy. They break and Garcia dances as Cassidy gets to his feet. Cassidy goes from an arm bar to a side headlock. Garcia tries to whip Cassidy into the ropes and Cassidy is able to get an arm bar and takes Garcia down. Garcia reverses and then Cassidy reverses again. Garcia goes for a drop toe hold and Cassidy is able to block ti and puts his hands in his pockets and walks away.

Cassidy gets a pair of drop kicks. Garcia charges at Cassidy and Cassidy slams his head into the top turnbuckle. As Cassidy takes Garcia to another turnbuckle, Garcia goes after the hand. Garcia is knocked to the floor and Cassidy hits a dive. They return to the ring and run the ropes, with Gatcia getting a running elbow. Garcia tosses Cassidy to the floor and then drops Cassidy on the ring apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring. Garcia attacks Cassidy on the outside as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Garcia hits a curb stomp. Garcia flips off the crowd and then runs into Cassidy’s elbow in the corner. They fight in the corner and Cassidy gets a series of elbow strikes, but Garcia cuts him off by chopping the injured hand. Garcia gets a superplex and floats over,  but Cassidy turns it into the stundog millionaire. Garcia is able to cut off Cassidy with a Dragon Screw. They throw hands in the middle of the ring.

Garcia ends it with a kick to the knee cap and stomps on Cassidy’s injured hand. Garcia stuffs Cassidy’s hands in his pockets and tries for a pile driver, but Cassidy is able to reverse it into the beach break for two. Cassidy sets up with the Orange Punch. Garcia hits a drop kick to Cassidy’s knee. Cassidy  is unable to get up and Garcia taunts him with soft kicks.

Garcia hits a jumping pile driver for two. Cassidy gets a small package for two. Cassidy gets the beach break again for two. Garcia gets a dragon tamer in the middle of the ring and Cassidy crawls to the ropes, but Garcia drags him back to the center. Garcia switches it to a triangle with the injured arm captured. Garcia then switches it to a cross face. Garcia keeps the hold whole stomping on the injured hand. Cassidy rolls him over for a two, and Garcia reverses it for a two count. Cassidy is able to reverse it again for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW International Champion: Orange Cassidy

The Outcasts complain about Hikaru Shida’s return and we get a trios match set up the Outcasts vs Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, and Jamie Hayter

Christian Cage is out with Luchasaurus. We are told Wardlow is not here tonight. Tony Schiavone asks how Cage can put himself in a match with Wardlow. Cage tells Detroit to shut up because they are the worst city in the US. He says his name has the cache to do whatever he wants. He asks Tony why so many wrestlers in AEW have daddy issues. He mocks Jungle Boy and says Wardlow HAD a father. He won’t berate Wardlow’s father because he was a nobody, but now he has Arn Ancderson. 

He says Arn was looking for a new son because he can throw Brock Anderson to the side and attach himself to Wardlow. He then mocks Arn.

We then get a video package for Darby Allin. We see him and his dad doing stunt stuff to break down barriers in his mind. 

Julia Hart vs Anna Jay No Holds Barred

Anna attacks Hart with a steel chair during her entrance. Anna throws a trash can into the ring, and when Anna gets in the ring, Hart attacks her and they brawl outside the ring. Hart pulls out a Kendo stick and uses it on Anna. They return to the ring and Anna is able to grab the stick and use it on Hart. They go to the floor again and Anna is rammed into the ring post twice.

Anna is slammed head first onto the timekeeper’s table and we go to picture in picture. So they brutal violence these two will do to each other for the next four or so minutes will be on a small screen as we are told about Taco Bell and Wendy’s.

When they return to full screen, Hart pulls out a bunch of chairs from under the ring. Anna then is able to hit a reverse Jaded onto the chairs and covers for two. Anna rams the trash can into Hart and then puts it over her head in the corner. Anna kicks it and then covers Hart for two. Anna tosses chairs into the ring. Anna tries for a suplex, but Hart escapes and throws elbows in the corner. They go to the top with Hart selling a hip injury. Hart hits a super plex for the top and then locks in the Hartless as Anna taps out.

Winner: Julia Hart

The Best Friends and Bandido cut a promo about their match with House of Black and the final rule they choose is that all witches are barred from ringside. Cassidy says that his backpack is big enough for three more belts, and he’s tired. Renee says she is tired as well.

House of Black (World Trios Champion) vs The Best Friends and Bandido  House Rules match

Malakai Black and Bandido start off the match. The crowd is chanting for the House of Black. The lights are dimmed for this match. 

Bandido gets an arm drag and a series of kicks until Black nails him with a kick of his own. Black works over Bandido in the corner. Black locks on an arm bar and Bandido tries to get to the ropes. He finally makes it by a fingertip but THERE ARE NO ROPE BREAKS. Bandido pulse himself free and Chuck Taylor tags himself in. All three men work over Black and Trent stays in the ring. Brody King gets a black tag and he breaks up a pin attempt with a senton onto Trent as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Trent is able to take King down. Buddy Matthews tags in and Trent is able to get a spinning DDT, but Chuck and bandido are not on the apron after being taken down by the House of Black. Buddy gets a roll up for two. Trent gets a stomp and is able to tag in Bandido, who cleans house. Bandido gets a dive onto Black and King. Buddy gets a knee strike on Bandido.

Chuck tags in and gets soul food, but Buddy tags in King, and they get Dante’s Inferno for the pin and the win

Winners and still AEW Trios Champions: House of Black

In the back, Kyle Fletcher for Aussie Open has taken out Orange Cassidy takes the belt from his backpack.

We then get a video from Jungle Boy about how he got into professional Wrestling.

Jon Moxley vs Kenny Omega in a steel cage

Omega does not have his over-the-top intro tonight. Bryan Danielson is on commentary.

Mox meets Omega on the ramp and they throw hands. They fight all the way to the cage where Yuta and Claudio start attacking Omega. The Young Bucks come out to stop that attack and Yuta is tossed off the stage. Claudio takes out the Bucks and Matt is tossed off the stage where Claudio and Yuta start beating him down until Nick leaps onto them. 

Omega is in the cage, yelling for Mox to join him. Mox makes it to the cage and the door is shut. The bell rings and the match begins.

They trade chips in the middle of the ring. Omega switches to jabs and Mox runs into a big boot from Omega, who hits the You Cannot Survive for two. Omerga pulls out a chair wrapped in barbed wire, and tosses it as Mox’s head. Omega slams the chair into Mox again and then stomps it into Mox’s back.  And we have blood.

Omega slams Mox’s head into the top turnbuckle and Mox slams Omega into the corner camera. Mox then springboard Omega into the cage. Mox nails Omega with the chair in the back. Omega gets a drop kick on Mox and then bulldogs Mox into the chair. Omega then hits a body slam on the chair. Omega then goes to the top and Mox meets him, getting a super plex, driving Omega into the chair as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox has the turnbuckle hook in Omega’s mouth as he has pulled the top rope apart. Mox wraps the rope around Omega’s neck and chokes him with it. Omega gouges the eyes of Mox to escape, but Mox gets a drop toe hold and returns to choking Omega. Omega is able to escape, but Mox hits him with a knee strike. Mox grabs a bag from unde the ring.

And it’s broken glass. Omega hits a series of strikes and then slams Mox, missing the glass. Omega gets a V Trigger and goes for the one winged angel. Mox turns it into a rear sleeper. Omega falls back, slamming Mox into the glass. Mox locks on the rear sleeper again. Omega leans back for the two count.

Mox tries for a pile driver, but Omega counters with a back drop followed by a V Trigger. Both men are struggling to get up. When they are both up they trade slaps. Omega gets another V Trigger, and Mox goes for a lariat, but Omega is able to get another knee followed by a snap suplex. Omega gets another V Trigger and they both go through the cage. Omega’s leg got trapped between the ring and the cage and both men spill to the floor.

Mox is up first ans rolls Omega into the ring. Mox grabs a screwdriver and returns to the ring. Don Callis runs into the ring and takes the screwdriver, and Omega nails Mox from behind.  He hits a ripcord V Trigger and the One Winged Angel and Don Callis attacks Omega with the screwdriver.  Mox is able to get the pin and the win.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Excalibur tells us the Mox had said that Omega would be leaving Detroit with a broken face and a bokeh heart. As Omega struggles to his feet, Mox stands over him with the screwdriver. He tosses it down and says something to Omega instead.
