A number of those who work in and around the professional wrestling world, including yours truly, received emails today from an Outlook.com email address claiming to be the late Bob Mulrenin, a long-time photographer who also worked for Ringside Collectibles' WrestlingFigs.com website.
The email asks the person who receives it for a favor. When the person responds, the person claiming to be Mulrenin asks for an Amazon gift card to be sent to them for a friend fighting cancer.
To make this even sleazier, Mulrenin passed away in November 2022, just six months after he was diagnosed with cancer.
So, I'm making this post for three reasons:
1 - To assure anyone and everyone who receives these emails they are ABSOLUTELY a scam. They are not coming from anyone in Bob's family - so don't respond to them and certainly, don't send them any sort of money.
2 - To educate anyone who comes across emails of a similar style in the future so they are aware they are also in most likelyhood, a scam attempt.
Bob Mulrenin was a truly great stand up person and on behalf of anyone and everyone who ever knew him, I truly hope karma smacks those responsible in the face ASAP.
