AEW SATURDAY NIGHT RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2023-04-22 23:09:00

It’s time for AEW Rampage  which was recorded after Dynamite at the Petersen Event Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone.

Jon Moxley vs. Christopher Daniels

They lock up and go to trading wrist locks and Mox takes Daniels down with a side headlock and holds on. Daniels is able to roll him for a one count twice, and then gets to his feet, but Mox takes him back down.  They are up again and run the ropes, with Mox shoulder tackling Daniels down twice. Daniels gets a drop toe hold and turns it into a side headlock.

Mox works them up and into the corner, and Mox gives Daniels a knee and then chops instead of a break. Daniels chips his way out and they run the ropes, with Daniels dumping Mox to the outside before hitting a clothesline from the apron.  Mox gets a back body drop on Daniels on the floor. Mox tosses Daniels into the steel steps as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox hits a stunner on Daniels and then puts him on the top turnbuckle. Mox rakes Daniels’s back and they fight on the top. Daniels hits Mox with a diving crossbody for two. They throw forearms in the middle of the ring, and Mox ends it with an eye poke. Daniels gets a backslide for two. Daneisl escapes a sleeper for two, and Mox retaliates with the King Kong lariat and a spike piledriver for two.

Mox locks on a bulldog choke, but Daniels gets to his feet. Daniels gets a back body drop and goes to the second rope for a flat liner.  Daniels hits Angels’ Wings, but he’s too tired to cover. Daniels covers for two. Mox is able to fight out of a hold and hits Daniels with the hammer and anvil elbows, and then gets the bulldog choke again. Daniels is able to get to his feet, but Mox drops him down and Daniels goes to sleep.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Mox releases the choke right after the bell and tells Daniels to get up so they can shake hands.

We then hear from Jade Cargill about her match with Taya Valkyrie on Dynamite.

Hook comes to the ring. Next out are the Hardys with Isaiah Kassidy. Jeff says he has worked hard to reach this moment of his return. He then says the smartest thing for him to do is giving up, but that isn’t happening, and he will end his career in AWE on a high note. Matt then tells us about the Firm Deletion.

Stokely Hathaway shows on the big screen and says that Matt hasn’t gotten back to him about the match. Matt says he will let Stokely know when the time is right, and as Stokely says he can wait, the rest of The Firm attacks everyone in the ring. Kassidy takes an Ego’s Edge and they take Kassidy up the ramp. When the Hardys and Hook come with chairs, they leave Kassidy on the stage.

Julia Hart vs Kiera Hogan

Julia dodges the tie up and then slaps Hogan. Hogan nails her with elbow strikes, and Hart cuts her off with a knee.  Hogan nails Hart with a right hand, then a drop toe hold into the ropes.  Hogan nails Hart in the ropes and then hits a leg drop onto Hart’s back for two. Hart comes back with a forearm strike and then chops Hogan down in the corner. She moves to strikes and a foot to the face.

Hart whips Hogan into the ropes and drops her with a back elbow. Hart stomps down Hogan. Hart then chokes Hogan in the middle of the ring until the ref calls for the break. They trade strikes and Hogan hits a snap mare and a kick. Hogan then hits a running drop kick in the corner for two.

Hart kips up and hits a standing moonsault for two. Hart goes for Hartless, but Hogan reverses it for two. Hart kicks Hogan and then drives her face-first into the mat. This time when she locks on Hartless, Hogan has to tap out.

Winner: Julia Hart

Anna Jay runs to the ring and attacks Hart and they brawl in the ring until the referees pull them apart.

Lexi is in the back with Christopher Daniels for an interview.

The Varsity Athletes (Tony Nese, Ari Davari, Slim J, and Josh Woods) w/Mark Sterling vs Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, and FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood)

Dax and Slim go to the corner and Slim fires haymakers at Dax. Dax fights his way out and hits a snap suplex into a leg drop for two. Dax then slams Slim and Cash is tagged in and slammed onto Slim for two. Slim gets a tejarass and throws hands at Cash.  Cash is able to get a power slam and Jay Lethal tags himself in.

Jarrett gets in and he and Lethal double team Slim. FTR helps them, and Jarrett and Lethal tell them to leave. As Jarrett and Lethal strut, FTR is behind them, mocking them. This leads to them all arguing as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Slim is holding Cash down and preventing the tag. Cash fights his way up and goes over the top of Slim to tag Dax, but just barely misses.  Cash gets a knee strike and both men struggle , but Ari tags in first to cut him off. Cash gets a back body drop on Ari and is finally able to get the tag to Dax who cleans house.

The tag team alarm goes off and all 8 men are in the ring. Mark Sterling gets on the apron and is pulled into the ring by Dax as Starling’s team is tossed to the outside. Dax holds Mark for Jarrett to nail him, but Mark drops at the last minute so that Jarrett nails Dax. Nese comes in and covers for two, and Jarrett does not do anything to break up the pin.

Dax and Jarrett have words in the middle of the ring, Jarrett gets The Stroke on Nese, and tells Dax to cover him. Dax covers for the pin and the win.

Winners: Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, and FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood)

Everyone on FTR’s team is arguing, and Mark Briscoe comes from the back to calm everyone down.

It’s Time for the Main Event!

El Hijo del Vikingo (AAA Mega Champion) vs. Dralistico

Dralistico starts by hitting a dive on Vikingo before Vikingo can get to the ring. He tosses Vikingo into the ring and Vikingo hits a drop kick after running up the ropes. Vikingo tries for a dive, and Dralistico dodges it. Dralistico tosses him into the ring, hits a swanton from the top rope for a two count. Vikingo is up and they trade chops. It then moves to running strikes and kicks. Vikingo hits a poisonrana, and Dralistico hits a destroyer off the ropes as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, they have been fighting at ringside with La Faccion Ingobernable attacking Vikingo when the ref is distracted. Vikingo is selling the lower back. Dralistico is on the ramp and runs into the ring to attack Vikingo, who he knocks to the outside. Dralistico hits a moonsault from the middle turnbuckle to Vikingo on the floor. Vikingo is tossed into the ring and Dralistico hits a leaping Code breaker from the apron to the top rope for two.

They fight in the corner, fighting to the top. Vikingo hits a head butt on Dralistico, knocking him to the apron, and then Vikingo hits a Destroyer on the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring. Dralistico is tossed into the ring and as the ref is checking on Dralistico, LFI keeps grabbing Vikingo to keep him from getting in the ring.

The ref finally sees it and orders them to the back.

Vikingo gets back in the ring and Dralistico gets a quick roll up for two. Vikingo gets a corkscrew kick and then hits a diving foot stomp from the top for two. Dralistico hits a diving hurricanrana as Vikingo was on the second rope and both men hit the floor. They struggle into the ring and Dralistico grabs an arm bar with El Mystica. Vikingo gets a toe on the ropes for a break.

Vikingo gets a back heel kick followed by knees in the corner. Vikingo hits the 630 senton from the pin and the win.

Your winner and still AAA Mega Championship: Vikingo

LFI attack Vikingo after the match and stand over him in victory.
