LIVE NOTES FROM SMACKDOWN IN PORTLAND, OREGON

By Geoff Clark on 2023-04-08 11:59:00

Live notes from 4/7 Smackdown in Portland, Oregon:

Dominick, by far, was had the most heel heat that anyone else on the entire roster.  I don’t know how it came across on TV but in the arena, the boos drowned out almost his entire promo and any point he was on the screen.

Triple H got the biggest pop next to Sami Zayn.

Jey got a huge pop when he stopped Solo from the spike on Sami, but the boos were just as loud when he attacked Sami.

The crowd did not like Solo, chanting “you’re not ready” over and over during his matches.

Post Smackdown had Austin Theory successfully defending his US Title against Dolph Ziggler.  Dolph got a good pop but everyone in the arena knew he was losing.  Theory had no heat and the crowd was bored from my point of view.  Post match, Dolph sold Theory’s finisher by lying in the ring motionless until Theory posed and then went to the back.  The female referee actually picked up, held, and carried Dolph to the back from the ring in a fireman’s carry, which was hilarious.

The dark match main event saw Matt Riddle defeat Solo Sikoa by DQ when Jey interfered.  The crowd wanted to cheer Matt but Solo dominated most of this match, which the crowd hated.  Not in a heel heat way, but the “X-Pac heat way”.  I personally dig Solo, but the crowd did not.  Post match Jey and Solo beat down Riddle until Sami made the save.

That was it.

My kids and I had a good time.  As a parent, I’m glad it was a kid friendly show, but as a long time fan, I miss the Attitude Era lol.
