Wrestlecon Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow

3/30/23 - Highspots.tv

Mick Foley just walks right through the curtain! He thanks everyone for being here. He humble brags that Aja Kong wanted to talk a picture with HIM. He talks about the love of wrestling briefly before introducing  a memorial video for Mark Hitchcock. It’s a show honoring a superfan FOR superfans. Mick Foley is my 100% favorite wrestler of all-time so this was a hell of an opening surprise. Bobby Cruise is our announcer.  Ian Riccaboni & Veda Scott are on commentary. This is the PWG venue?  Beautiful place.

Match 1: Blake Christian vs Michael Oku (w/ Amira)

Blake with that opening handshake, Oku doesn’t know if he can trust it but it’s honorable. Good opening sequence to a face-to-face stalemate. Blake offers another handshake….but he very clearly has his fingers crossed and arm drags Oku…he pays for that tho. Oku has an answer for all of this. Oku trying to go for a half crab but Blake has that scouted. Scuffle on the apron, Blake spears him off to the floor! Blake starts to walk Oku down, inside flip senton. Oku hits a sky high frog splash. Blake is staggered as Oku starts to find his rhythm. Snap ddt for two! Big PK, Blake dodges a Moonsault…slingshot handspring enziguri! Alabama slam slingshot into the post and a saito for two. Trading fosberry flops! Both guys wiped out on the floor. Ref gets the count up to 9….ah right, this is a 20 count place. They break the count but Blake very much wants this fight on the apron. Both guys stunned with forearms…trading kicks but Blake hits a half and half suplex on the apron owwwwwwww….Another one. Oku looking DED. Blake whiffs the springboard 450, Oku locks in the half crab! Scramble to the ropes for the break! Oku tossed off the top like a baby! Blake hops back up and lands the 450 for the win! Great opener, massive action to start this show off. Blake gives a legit handshake for Oku and holds his hand up.

Winner: Blake Christian

Match 2: Bryan Keith & Kenta vs Tom Lawlor & Christopher Daniels

Lawlor’s partner was a mystery until this moment and it’s the Fallen Angel?!? We also have a special guest Enforcer?!? IT’S KEN SHAMROCK! The crowd is HOT for Shamrock! Also, what a hell of a spot for Bryan Keith to be in. The Bounty Hunter starts with Daniels, who somehow has short shorts shorter than Tom Lawlor’s short shorts??? Daniels controls Keith early but a big boot turns Chris into a volleyball between him and Kenta. Filthy Tom fakes like he wants Kenta….and it’s just a moment to blindside Bryan Keith. Lawlor trying to lay into Keith but the bounty hunter keeps Flithy Tom at bay. Tag to Kenta and Lawlor squares off. Daniels tags himself in, he wants the glory! Kenta pushes Daniels to the ropes….and boots Lawlor off the apron. Daniels helps his partner out and offers the tag…nah, Tom likes the apron. Kenta likes pushing Tom off the apron. Keith in and Lawlor starts getting more involved from the apron, he clearly doesn’t respect and fear Bryan like he does Kenta. Tom in, wrist lock tosses and tries for a cross arm breaker. Keith forced the indignity of having Tom’s shorts ripped on and knee choked while he has to kick out at two. Daniels and Lawlor work the heck out of the Bounty Hunter. Lawlor gives Kenta a little payback and the ref is distracted….The double teams are failing! Partners collide! DDT to Daniels….Keith crawls for the tag. Tag, Lawlor gets out of there again. No Kenta no thank you. Double team kicks to Daniels. Keith holds him for a flying knee and Tom has to break it up. Double clothesline…Tag to Kenta AND Lawlor. They brawl in the center, trading kicks…..Kenta hits a drape ddt! Running boot and basement dropkick. Double stomp! He tries the GTS but Daniels breaks it up. Running knee from Lawlor, corner flying spear and a gut wrench slam out of the corner! Kick out. He wants to put Kenta to sleep….Kenta is trying to rally, reverses to a wrist hold….Tom reverses to an ankle lock! Crossface from Kenta. Daniels wipes out the ref as Tom is clearly tapping. Kenta tossed out. Bryan Keith trying to fight them both. Lawlor hits a blatant low blow on the bounty hunter. Where is the enforcer?!? Ken Shamrock is in to replace the ref but he refuses to make the count since he KNOWS what happened. Daniels in his face….Ken decks him. Lawlor and Shamrock  face to face, Ken shoves him right into Kenta, who rolls up Filthy Tom…Ken runs in to count the three! Ken Shamrock puts the ankle lock on Tom for good measure!

Winners: Kenta & Bryan Keith

Match 3: Negro Casas vs Ultimo Dragon

I’m so glad I didn’t read the card for this show too hard (this show almost always rules) because this is a wild matchup to see as a fan in 2023. Ian says this is the first time they’ve fought in over 10 years….but they have at least 100 battles in their rivalry. Bobby Cruise puts on a video of Chris Jericho, who puts over both of these legends and how much he learned from them. Even Ian and Veda admit they are over the moon to be seeing this. Dragon uses a head scissor to try and wear casas down. This chess match picks up pace as Casas drops down to an arm bar. Dragon transitions to a surfboard stretch! Casas escapes and has to stretch out the leg a little. Quick pin attempts and trips back and forth, these guys can GO. Casas gets a limb and tries to wear it down but Dragon firing back with a kick flurry. Negro heads to the top but Dragon sends his 60+ year old opponent to the floor! Casas beats up Dragon on the floor but he gets caught on the top again…superplex! Casas is somehow up first! This is speeding up as Casas starts swinging but Dragon quickly wraps up the Dragon Sleeper and the ref has to call it when Casas goes out. Sick.

Winner: Ultimo Dragon

Match 4: Arez, Latigo & Laredo Kid vs Ray Horus, Aramis & Galeno del Mal

Galeno is HUGE. Aramis doesn’t trust Latigo’s handshake. He shouldn’t. This just goes 100mph, crazy back and forth pin attempts. Latigo just gives him the bird. Arez in to tangle with Horus. Quick flipping pins, Arez’s style is so fun. Are accidentally decks Galeno….and the big man wants into this contest. Arez runs for the hills and tags Laredo Kid in. Galeno is leapfrogging and transitioning with Laredo…crazy speed for a dude this size. It takes a triple team to take him down. Kid with a tope into the seats while Latino and Arez try to get the submission. Hard chops crack Horus’ chest. Yeow. Arez runs in for the kill? Nope, more birds. This level of disrespect is wild. Back bodies drop right into a tree of woe and Latino hits a corner cross body. What a sequence! Triple slam to Galeno! Kick out with all three men on top! Dive party! Galeno del Mal somersaults to the floor and lands on his feet! Big lucha chants! Stuff knee to the head but Ares makes the save. Are going for Galeno’s mask, combo kick flurry. Aramis in for a piece of Arez. Huge air raid crash for two. Latino catch him with a suplex lung blower! Huge moves all around! Horus with a tornado ddt! Twisting backbreaker from Arez. Galeno hits a huge lariat. Laredo Kid grabs a chair and clubs the big man. Not a DQ? Stereo dives rom Horus and Aramis while Galeno hits a twisting suplex off the second for the win. This ruled. The crowd makes money rain in to the ring for these guys.

Winner: Ray Horus, Aramis & Galeno del Mal

Match 5: Hyper Misao, Mizuki, Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino & Yuki Kamifuku vs Hikari Noa, Nao Kakuta, Miu Watanabe, Raku & Rika Tatsumi

It’s Tokyo Joshi Pro time! Hyper Misao says she is so strong that she can beat all five of her opponents in seconds. It turns into a five on one beating on the confident superhero. Raku hits a double chop and takes a nap on Hyper? This is delightfully goofy. Yuki Aino turns this into a wrestling match as Rika tags in to take the advantage. Hikari and Nao (a team called FREE WIFI) just unloading on Aino. Tag to Shoko! Big Kaiju is so fast. 619 connects! Watanabe tries to overpower but Shoko gets Mizuki in there….and Watanabe slams them both! Crowd is pretty fire for this. DOUBLE GIANT SWING TO SHOKO AND MIZUKI! Hyper Misao flies in with a cross body to Kakuta. Hikari and Aino going at it and Noa is just unhinged. Mizuki in and hits a grosssss dropkick through the ropes on Tatsumi. Tatsumi posts her knees. Mizuki, oh noooooo. Watanabe throws Tatsumi in an Alabama slam splash on Mizuki. Mizuki is being kept down and beaten down with a ton of quintuple teaming. Mizuki almost taps out Raku! Tatsumi tries to break it up but Hyper Misao off the top to send her flying to the floor. Shoko with a cannonball to the floor and wipes out everyone! Raku almost steals it with a straight jacket back slide. Raku os planted, Mizuki hits a top rope double stomp and gets the three!

Winners: Hyper Misao, Mizuki, Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino & Yuki Kamifuku

Match 6: Speedball Mike Bailey vs Shigehiro Irie

This is just a hard-hitting back and forth war. Irie lands some huge shots outside and inside the ring but Bailey is just throwing those ridiculous kicks. Really just a war of attrition, Bailey hits the kneesault, the buzzsaw kick but Irie won’t stay down. Irie catches a tornado kick….Bailey flips out and hits it. Irie dodges the Ultima Weapon and takes off his head with a huge lariat! Bailey kicks out. Hard shot to the back of the head1 cannonball on the ropes! Another lariat turns Bailey inside out! Irie leaps up and grabs a rear choke….Bailey fights it but Irie hits a belly to back flapjack, he releases the choke to drop 12 to 6 elbows until Bailey goes to sleep. This was short but damn, that was fun.

Winner: Shigehiro Irie

Match 7: United Empire (Jeff Cobb & Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis)) vs Time Machine (Kushida, Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley)

Yoooooooooo. There’s no way this match doesn’t rock. Kyle Fletcher has a bad time to start as Time Machine gives him a beatdown early. Kyle with a quick scoop slam to Shelley and David gets in there. It looks bad but Sabin gets the blind tag, triple team on David…Double submission with a dropkick chaser! Jeff Cobb in there to tangle with Sabin but maybe he’s struggling after his Bloodsport fight only a couple hours prior. He gets Sabin up and jogs around the ring with him before slamming him into the buckles. Shelley in and tries a double sliced bread on Aussie Open, MCMG caught into a super collider. Great impact. Cobb in and just uses Shelley like a stepping stone. Aussie Open finally taken over and grinding out Alex Shelley. Alex trying to fight it off, dodges a big senton and tags to Sabin. Sabin and Kushida flying in to deal with Aussie Open, trio submission….Cobb fights off and breaks it up. Fletcher and Shelley ducking it out, faster and faster. Discus right hand! Shelley caught by Aussie Open. Toss into a kick! Sabin lawn darted into a cutter! Shelley tossed into a reverse tour of the islands! Kushida and Sabin  in and Fletcher eats a full Time Machine dream sequence. Sabin topes out to the United Empire! Triple kick to Fletcher. Davis tries to save it but Shelley blasts his face into the buckles. Sabin DDT’s Cobb!. Back to Fletcher and Sabin, almost a double ref bump, swining cradle slam from Aussie Open and Sabin to downed for the three!

Winners: United Empire

Main Event: El Hijo Del Vikingo (c) VS Komander VS Black Taurus (AAA Mega Championship)

Yep. I am hyped for THIS. Taurus blows snot into their waiting handshakes as he batters the smaller opponents early on. Komander press slammed to the floor! Taurus flies out after them! He wants to beat BOTH of them equally. He chokeslams Vikingo into a reverse ddt. Taurus quick slid to the floor and super kicked into the chairs. Stereo dive to the big bull! Double rope walk moonsaults to the floor. Vikingo with a 450 double stomp. This is some crazy athleticism. Shooting star Rana to Black Taurus! I’m gonna stop trying to describe these moves because it just a flurry of springboards and rope walks and changed directions and ranas. Wow. Just wow. Black Taurus keeps eating bodies. Komander with a destroyer to Taurus! Komander wipes out the champ with a back and gut buster. Taurus in with a fallaway slam but Vikingo catches and holds Taurus (how….HOW), German with a bridge for two. Taurus with a pressslam off the top jeeeeeeeeeesus. Insane sequence of crucifix bomb and drivers. Crowd chanting to fight forever. Yeah, id take it. Taurus slams Commander to the apron. Vikingo with a 630 to the floor! A 630 senton finishes off Black Taurus. This was INSANE. What a main event!
