AEW ALL ACESS EPISODE ONE - “Life On The Ropes”
AEW stars recap how AEW was started by Tony Khan and a group of Elite superstars who wanted to change the wrestling business. MJF says he’s not participating for free and walks away. Britt Baker is the primary narrator for this episode. We see her do a backstage promo then she introduces herself and explains being a real dentist and wrestler at the same time.
A long segment where Saraya, Britt, Jamie & Toni are talking about how beat up they are. Traveling and wrestling doesn’t allow time to heal properly. They then go and discuss how Thunder Rosa is not showing up for work, she’s too injured but every weekend she is traveling doing seminars and appearances while Toni Storm is busting her ass for AEW on to known as the interim champion. Toni doesn’t complain and is being a workhorse. Baker doesn’t appreciate Rosa keeping the title while treating it like an accessory like a necklace while Storm is carrying the division.
Matt & Nick Jackson are back on the road for the first time since the All Out incident. CM Punk and what happened is not mentioned. They are very nervous about how they’ll be received by the wrestlers and by fans. They clearly regret what happened and don’t want to talk about it (even if they could). We see home movies of the Bucks wrestling as kids and the brothers tell their backstory. They start working out in the ring for the first time in 8 weeks. They are welcomed back by the locker room and feel immediately more relaxed. Matt said at one point he wanted to retire and not return but he’s glad he has a creative outlet again.
Adam Cole introduces himself and explains his concussion. He is working out with some weights and Kyle O’Reilly arrives to talk. Its 9 weeks since his neck fusion surgery and they commiserate over their situations. Cole explains how long he and Kyle have worked together and that he’s his road wife. O’Reilly talks about waking up from surgery unable to move his arm and how scary it was. Cole says this is the worst injury he’s ever had. He’s looking forward to trying to get cleared by Dr. Sampson to return in two weeks.
More with Matt & Nick working out in the ring. Matt says the return at Full Gear isn’t just about having a big match. He says the stakes are higher and if things go wrong it will be a disaster.
Britt Baker is getting a shot in the middle of her back so she can go wrestle that night. She talks to Rebel about Adam Cole’s upcoming doctors appointment and how he wants to come back for “Full Gear” but she thinks it’s too soon. She says it’s hard to work when the love of your life is at home going through hell. In a separate interview Britt talks about how they need to build up the women’s roster and new girls need the opportunity to be champion. She’s enjoying the storyline with Toni Storm & Jamie Hayter.
We’re introduced to Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara. Tay recaps growing up poor in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and how her mother pushed her into Judo to keep her off the streets. Sammy talks about what a big babyface Tay was becoming and then they got together and it fell apart. He feels bad because “she’s a badass in the ring”. We see a match she has on Dark and the backstage reaction. Tay is having an adjustment period being a heel for the first time. She gets emotional wondering if she did OK in only a 3 minute match.
In Orlando, Britt meets Adam Cole at his doctors appointment. Cole explains how she’s been there for him the entire time and he feels badly he’s put her through this. He goes into see Doc Sampson and explains he wants to return at Full Gear. He thinks he’s close to 100%. Sampson explains how concussions are hard to determine when someone is healthy and that one concussion is too many. But that going back too soon could be career ending. He won’t clear him at this time. Cole is disappointed and talks with Britt in the parking lot. She tries to cheer him up and explain to him that he can be Adam Cole again and there is no rush. She wants Austin to be ready. His friends and family are there for him and they can all wait for Adam Cole to return. They want to have a happy life together, eventually having kids and there is no reason to risk anything.
Next week - The Bucks return to TV in Chicago. Tay & Sammy talk about starting a family with Sammy’s mother. Ruby Soho warns Tay about injuring her again. Sammy is upset over a match with Bryan Danielson that he didn’t think he delivered a good performance in. Cole & Brit have Christmas together with their families. Adam’s mother is very concerned for his well being.
