AEW DARK EPISODE 189 RECAP

Nick Comoroto vs. AR Fox

The match begins with Comoroto throwing a lolipop at Fox, Fox goes for an arm drag and Comoroto defends each time. Comoroto then drops Fox with a shoulder tackle, Comoroto kicks Fox in the midsection and Fox responds with an enziguri. Fox follows up by hittinng Comoroto with a springboard bulldog, Fox corners Comoroto before landing multiple back elbow strike. Comoroto catches a leaping Fox before landing a uranage on him, Comoroto then drops Fox with a hard Irish whip into the corner. Comoroto follows up by nailing Fox with a slam before pie facing him, Fox fights back and Comoroto nails him with another slam. Comoroto goes for another slam and Fox gets free before landing a few strikes, Comoroto recovers and he hits Fox with a short arm clothesline for a near fall. Comoroto follows up by landing a sidewalk slam on Fox for a near fall, Comoroto keeps Fox down while applying a near hug to him. Fox gets free after sending Comoroto out of the ring, Comoroto looks to suplex Fox out of the ring and Fox fights back before dropping Comoroto with an enziguri.

Fox then uses a drop kick to knock Comoroto to the arena floor, Fox follows up by landing multiple suicide dives on Comoroto. Fox gets Comoroto back in the ring before landing a swanton bomb for a near fall, Fox returns to the top rope and he misses a 450 splash attempt. Comoroto then hits Fox with a lariat followed by a swinging uranage for a near fall, Comoroto looks for an Alabama slam and Fox counters with a roll up as Comoroto grabs the ropes. Fox manages to drop Comoroto with multiple thrust kicks followed by a cutter for a near fall, Fox goes back to the top rope and Comoroto crotches him before meeting him up there. Fox knocks Comoroto off the ropes before landing another swanton bomb, Fox returns to the top rope and he hits Comoroto with a 450 splash for a three count.

Winner: AR Fox

Skye Blue vs. Queen Aminata

The match begins with Aminata dropping Blue with a snap mare, Aminata misses a penalty kick and Blue rolls her up for a near fall. Blue then hits Aminata with a head scissors takedown followed by a knee strike, Blue goes after the arm of Aminata and Aminata gets her in a headlock. Blue gets free and Aminata drops her with a shoulder tackle, Blue fights back and she gets rolled up by Aminata for a near fall. Aminata then nails a swinging Blue with a release German suplex, Aminata traps Blue by the ropes before knocking her out of the ring with a knee strike. Aminata leaves the ring and she attacks Blue by landing more chops, Aminata then hits Blue with a suplex on the arena floor. Blue traps Aminata in the ropes before landing a neck breaker, Blue drags Aminata to the ring apron before dropping her face first on the hardest part of the ring. Blue then takes out Aminata with aa dive from the top rope, Blue gets Aminata back in the ring before landing a top rope high cross body for a near fall.

Blue cracks Aminata with some forearm strikes before a striking exchange takes place between them, Aminata blocks a thrust kick before eating an enziguri from Blue. Aminata recovers to hit Blue with a headbutt followed by an air raid crash, Aminata then hits a cornered Blue with a hip attack followed by a face wash for a near fall. Aminata looks for a neck breaker and Blue counters with a super kick, Blue then hits Aminata with a full nelson slam for a three count.

Winner: Skye Blue

Evil Uno vs. Alexander Moss

The match begins with Uno knocking Moss into the corner after landing a high boot, Uno then stomps away on Moss before landing a short arm clothesline. Moss fights back and he nails Uno with a few chops, Uno fights back and he nails Moss with chops of his own. Moss recovers and he nails Uno with a combination followed by a double knee strike for a near fall, Uno knocks Moss into the corner before landing a pair of clotheslines. Uno follows up by landing a series of piledrivers on Moss for a three count.

Winner: Evil Uno

Marina Shafir vs. Steph De Lander

The match begins with Dde Lander shoving Shafir down, Shafir returns to trip up De Lander and sirt on her back. Shafir catches De Lander in a front headlock, De Lander gets free and she works the arm of Shafir before landing a snake eyes on her. De Lander drops a dazed Shafir for a near fall, De Lander knocks Shafir into the corner before landing more strikes and an avalanche. Shafir recovers to drop De Lander with a judo throw followed by a mid kick, De Lander gets up and Shafir nails her with a variety of kicks. De Lander goes down and Shafir nails her with a few more kicks, De Lander gets back up and she exchanges strikes with Shafir. Shafir catches a swinging De Lander in a shoulder capture submission and De Lander taps out.

Winner: Marina Shafir

Zack Clayton vs. Schaff

The match begins with Clayton attacking Schaff with a kick to the midsection, Clayton traps Schaff in the corner while landing strikes. Clayton then nails Schaff with a suplex followed by an elbow drop, Clayton gets Schaff in the corner again while landing more strikes. Schaff fights back and he lands a few strikes on Clayton, Schaff drops Clayton in the corner before landing a cannonball followed by a suplex for a near fall. Clayton rakes the eyes of Schaff before landing a power slam, Clayton follows up by dropping Schaff with a leaping clothesline. Clayton lands a fisherman buster suplex onSchaff for a three count.

Winner: Zack Clayton

Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin) vs. Liam Gray & Adrian Alanis

The match begins with Alanis and Dante having a shoving contest, Dante then cracks Alanis with a few strikes followed by an enziguri. Alanis catches a leaping Dante and Dante gets free to land a back suplex, Dante hits a cornered Alanis with a corner clothesline. Darius tags in and he double teams Alanis alongside Dante, Gray interferes and he gets taken out as well. Darius leaves the ring to attack both opponents before getting Alanis back in the ring, Gray interferes and that allows Alanis to hit Darius with a sling blade for a near fall. Gray tags in and he nails a cornered Darius with a cross body block for a near fall, Gray keeps Darius grounded while applying a cobra clutch to him. Darius gets free and Gray drops him with a pump kick, Darius recovers and he nails Gray with a brain buster. Dante tags in and he immediately starts cleaning house against the opposing team, Dante nails Alanis with a springboard cross body block for a near fall. Darius tags in and Alanis nails him with a knee lift, Gray tags back in and Darius is double teamed by the opposition. Gray and Alanis nail Darius with a suplex high cross body for a near fall, Dante returns and he helps Darius land a DDT on Gray. Dante tags in and he hits Gray with a uranage for a three count.

Winners: Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin)

QT Marshall & Aaron Solo w/Harley Cameron vs. Vary Morales & Austin Green

The match begins with Marshall tagging Solo into the match, Solo tags Marshall back in while they both argue with the crowd. Solo tags back in and he nails Morales with a knee to the midsection followed by some strikes, Morales fights back and he nails Solo with a middle rope rana. Morales then hits Solo and Marshall with some drop kicks, Solo recovers and he nails a leaping Morales with a drop kick. Marshall tags back in and he cracks Morales with some strikes, Marshall then drops Morales with a back elbow strike. Solo tags back in and he stomps away on a cornered Morales, Morales fights back and he nails Solo with a tornado DDT. Green and Marshall are tagged in by their respective partners, Green quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team. Green then hits Solo with a power slam followed by a spine buster on Marshall, Morales tags in and Solo takes both opponents out with a chop block. Marshall then hits Morales with an elbow strike followed by the Dirt Sheet Driver for a three count.

Winners: QT Marshall & Aaron Solo w/Harley Cameron

Serpentico vs. Brady Booker

The match begins with Serpentico having a pose down with Booker before being dropped with a shoulder block, Booker then hits Serpentico with a hip toss followed by a back body drop. Booker follows up by landing a delayed vertical suplex on Serpentico, Booker then lands multiple splashes on a downed Serpentico. Booker looks for a torture tack and Serpentico defends before landing a super kick, Serpentico then drops Booker with a diving shoulder tackle for a near fall. Serpentico follows up by stomping on the hand of Booker, Serpentico keeps Booker down before landing a basement drop kick. Serpentico goes to the top rope and he misses a swanton bomb attempt, Booker then hits Serpentico with a few football tackles followed by a diving shoulder tackle. Booker then hits Serpentico with a slam and a splash for another near fall, Booker goes for a torture rack and Serpentico counters with a thrust kick. Serpentico then lands a swanton bomb on Booker for a near fall, Serpentico goes back to the top rope and he misses a double stomp. Booker hits Serpentico with a power slam before applying the torture rack to force a tap out.

Winner: Brady Booker

Konosuke Takeshita vs. Cole Karter w/Lee Johnson

The match begins with Karter going after the arm of Takeshita, Takeshita gets free and he also goes after the arm of Karter. Karter gets Takeshita in a hammer lock and Takeshita gets free to get him in a headlock, Karter gets free and Takeshita nails him with a shoulder tackle. Takeshita follows up by landing a leaping clothesline on Karter, Karter fights back and he nails Takeshita with an STF. Karter keeps Takeshita down while stomping on him and landing an elbow drop for a near fall, Karter follows up by dropping Takeshita with a hard Irish whip into the corner. Karter then lands a few knee drops on Takeshita for another near fall, Karter also lands a suplex on Takeshita for a near fall. Karter keeps Takeshita down while applying a chin lock to him, Takeshita gets free and Karter cracks him with a drop kick. Karter mounts a downed Takeshita while landing a bunch of strikes, Takeshita fights back and he nails Karter with a few strikes. Takeshita's injured arm gives out on him and Karter nails him with a falcon arrow for a near fall, Takeshita fights back again and he has a striking exchange with Karter.

Takeshita ends the exchange by sending Karter out of the ring with a rana, Takeshita then takes Karter out with a suicide dive. Takeshita gets Karter back in the ring and he misses a springboard leap, Takeshita still manages to hit Karter with a blue thunder bomb for a near fall. Takeshita goes for a knee strike and Karter blocks it before landing a buckle bomb, Karter follows up with a spine buster on Takeshita for a near fall. Karter goes to the top rope and Takeshita meets him up there, Takeshita gets Karter down after landing a superplex for a near fall. Takeshita and Karter have another striking exchange in the middle of the ring, Takeshita ends the exchange by landing a release German suplex on Karter. Karter recovers and he nails a leaping Takeshita with a TKO, Karter goes for a 450 splash and Takeshita gets out of the way. Takeshita then hits Karter with a knee strike to the back of the head, Karter avoids a second knee strike to land an elbow strike on Takeshita. Takeshita fights back and he nails Karter with multiple knee strikes for a three count.

Winner: Konosuke Takeshita

After the match, Lee Johnson attacks Konosuke Takeshita.
