Wrestling Open Week 64

3/23/23

It’s Thursday. It’s Worcester. It’s the White Eagle. It’s Wrestling Open! The title tournament continues through its first round tonight but it sure looks like we have a stacked card!

Spotlight Match: Shannon LaVangie vs Vicious Vickie

New Jersey sent us another one?!? Jaz and Stetson are multiplying! Shannon kicks a yakuza kick but misses a dropkick. Vickie stalking her with hard shots and uses the refs count liberally for chokes. Bulldog out the corner but Shannon stays in it. Vickie going for a rear choke, Shannon rebounds with a top rope kick. Troublemaker splash ends Vickie’s night in a little under four minutes.

Winner: Shannon LaVangie

And we’re live on IWTV! Paul Crockett and Alyssa Marino are at the commentary table. Rich Palladino is your announcer. Let’s kick this off with some meat slappin’!

Match 1: Uptown Andy Brown vs Rip Byson

Rip is happy to be with the crowd and Andy just runs right over him. Hard chops finally wake Rip up but he runs right into a spine buster and elbow drop for two. Rip finally back with hard chops and corner charges. He wants to gutwrench but Andy out. He tries the flying ko shot but Rip lets him eat the mat. Chokeslam! Big lariat! Rip stacks him for the pin! That’s the three!

Winner: Rip Byson

Match 2: Steven Stetson vs Kris Brady

Everyone’s favorite homeboy lets Worcester give this s*** cowboy his weekly spelling lesson. An early high energy flurry is cut off by Stetson just being a brute. Brady trying to mount a comeback but Stetson just spine busters him to hell. He tries the stampede but Brady posts him. Let’s gooooo! Brady stuns him on the buckle, roll back to a ddt! It felt like a slow count and Stetson flapjacks Brady as he tries to finish the fight. One Northern Jersey Lariat later and Brady goes home with the L.

Winner: Steven Stetson

Stetson has his ranchhand Alec Price in the opening round (next week?) and he wants to make this a ranch party. Alec looks miserable as Stetson put the hat on him. Will Stetson stay true to the ranch or is he gunning to soften his opponent up.

Match 3: Alec Price vs Derek Neal

Not gonna lie, I’m really excited for this one. Big clubbing blow from the king’s road slayer, Alec has to fly and cross body. He’s going for the knees but Stetson catches his attention and Neal just takes his head off with a monster lariat. Huge chop cuts the Prize in half. Stetson doesn’t look particularly upset at this beating Alec is taking. Neal starts jawing that he’s gonna be taking money out of Price’s grandpa’s medical fund and the Northeast Beast just rages up. Emergency leg drop! Neal still landing some ungodly chops but he wipes out in the corner. Price with a superkick and blockbussssstah for the win! This was reallllly good. Neal is a beast.

Winner: Alec Price

Stetson acknowledges they have a match next week for the title tournament. He wants Price to get something off his chest. Price talks about how he’s watched Open grow to the state it’s in and that’s because of him week in and week out. Price says there’s no ranch next week and he’s coming for Stetson’s skull. Stetson says this is the Alec Price he wanted….and he made a deal for their tournament match to happen tonight?!? Stetson says that he expects Alec will “do the right thing”. Oh noooooo. That’s for later though.

Match 4: Austin Luke vs TJ Crawford

This match is gonna f*** too I bet. Good high energy hard hits right at the start. Heavy kicks landing in bulk. TJ with a hip toss and elbow drop for two. He tries the wizard but Luke cuts him up with his feet. TJ with a corner spear and slingshot cutter for two! Luke whipped hard to the buckles. Rebound to a lariat and it’s TJ’s turn to eat some hard shots. Loud chop, big German! Yakuza kick to a corner dropkick! TJ spikes with the brain buster! Kick out! TJ blocks a GTK and donks Luke’s head off. Airplane spin to a facebuster, TJ winds up and hits the shining wizard for the win! This was just a solidly awesome match.

Winner: TJ Crawford

Match 5: Ray Jaz vs RJ Rude

RJ lighting Jaz up early with chops and knees. Kaz is annoyed and double legs him into the corner. Ray is having trouble here as Rude keeps reversing and hitting…until Jaz dodges a moonsault and clotheslines his head off. Jaz getting mocked as he starts to stomp a hole in Rude. He runs RJ into corner after corner, big German…RJ kicks out! Rolling codebreaker out of nowhere! Lionsault connects! Kick out! RJ trying a back slide but Jaz reverses to a quick cradle bomb…and puts a stamp on the win by tapping RJ with a Jazmission.

Winner: Ray Jaz

40-0….

Match 6: Antonio Christiano Zambrano (w/ Alex Cypher) vs CPA

So yeah, Zambrano is a soccer guy and the man with the Diamond hands is his super agent. Let’s see how this debut goes! He can certainly kick a ball and if you can kick a ball, you can win a wrestle. CPA is out wrestling him early…this stuns Zambrano and the atomic drop right after prolly didn’t help. He tries a soccer kick but CPA catches it. Zambrano kicks the rope and CPA takes it on the throat. Big slam. Cypher yells GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL! Running knees to the abs. CPA dodges a PK and goes wild! He rips another shirt, pop up powerbomb for two! ACZ slips out of crunching numbers but CPA rebounds with a dropkick. He goes for the 1099 but Cypher tries to give him a yellow card?!? The distraction is enough and Zambrano rolls him up with a handful of tights for the win! Alright, yeah. I’m into it, let’s see where this goes.

Winner: ACZ

Match 7: B3CCA vs Notorious Mimi

Shoving right at the bell and in each others face! Thez press and Mimi’s dropping shots. Big kicks but Becca’s pulling hair. Becca unloading, chops and drops. She’s picks her up for a side slam and just dumps her out of the pop stars ring. Mimi doesn’t take that disrespect lying down, big xfactor back in the ring for two. These two are making this rubber match count. Big lionsault for two! Becca’s can’t do math but Mimi can’t make the time count…..she almost catches Becca with a rollup! Big boot! Becca kicks out! They fight to the top, Becca ducks a crossbody…TKO! Becca puts on a Muta lock! Mimi has to tap! This was a lot of fun!

Winner: B3CCA

Becca wants to talk but Shannon LaVangie is out here to interrupt. She’s still thinking about how Becca beat her a few weeks ago. She wants a rematch now that’s she’s strung some wins together. Becca says the trouble maker is a fake. She’s a pop sensation and Shannon wants a rematch? NO. Becca leaves her standing there.

Match 8: Tyree Taylor (w/ Brother Greatness) vs Love Doug (1st Round Wrestling Open Championship Tournament Match)

The church of greatness very much is trying to stake their claim on the title now! Does Doug have a chance? He’s faster at least and staying ahead of the big man. A prom pose is a bad move and Tyree starts unloading. Flapjack into the corner, snap powerslam for two! Brother Greatness is motivating his charge, who is upset at all of us here in his former home of Worcester. He catches Doug out of the air and just slams him face first into the center. “DO NOT SPARE THE ROD!” Yells BG as Tyree goes for the Brooklyn Zoo. Doug slips it, he’s flying all over and Tyree is getting peppered with love. Bulldog for two! Doug wants the slice of love…discus clothesline crushes Douglas. THAT IS NOT ENOUGH! A Brooklyn Zoo bomb to a limp Love Doug and our cupid is folded in half for an emphatic three. Tyree’s new attitude is great but damn, I do like seeing this more serious side of Brother Greatness.

Winner: Tyree Taylor

Match 9: Pedro Dones & Big Bacon Brad Hollister vs Bobby Orlando & Fancy Ryan Clancy

This tag clash of 4 quarterfinal participants in the title tournament is super heated. Bacon give Orlando the satisfaction of starting this fight and it’s left to Dones to get beat up with these Fancy Tricks. Bacon with the distract and Dones bounces mom face first off the buckle. Bacon accidentally tagged in with Fancy and he’s eating atomic drops and a CARTWHEEEEEL!!!! Fancy almost hits the side Russian on Pedro but Bacon intercepts with a German. Time to double team and beat the crap out of Fancy. Clancy is whipped in the buckles over and over. Clancy is getting shots and slips out of Dones grip…tag to Mom! Orlando fires up! Dusty punches, a roaring lariat can’t end it. Bacon sent off the apron! Sick trick cutter to Dones…but he’s not legal! Bacon ambushes him, Clancy cuts it off with an enziguri. Clancy and Dones collide on the crisscross and we have a full stalemate. Bobby and Bacon go strap down and battle into the crowd! They are the legal men! Bacon eats the post but they’re sitting fighting. Ref Bill has no choice but to count both teams out!

Winners: Double Count Out

Match 10: Steven Stetson vs Alec Price (1st Round Wrestling Open Championship Tournament Match)

Oh noooo. Price is out here again to the ranch Music. I hate it. He hates it. Stetson says he’s still paying for Price’s grandfathers hospital bills…and he says Price knows what he has to do…for the Ranch. He tells Price to lay down because otherwise, it would be a shame if he stopped paying those bills. The bell rings…Stetson looks expectant. Price goes to his back…and kicks out at one! Stetson tries to talk Price back into position. Alec is conflicted…but down he goes. Kick out at one again! He yells he can’t do this. Stetson talks him back down for….a two count. Price is tortured. Price is on the ropes as the ref comes up to check on him. Price shoves the ref off thinking it’s stetson. Wait, wait…Price just got DQ’d?!? No. Nonono. Noooooooo. Steven Stetson advances. Worcester is UNHAPPY and Stetson loves it. This was some good business but dammit dammit dammit.

Winner: Steven Stetson (by DQ)

Main Event: “World Class” Channing Thomas (w/ Sidney Bakabella) vs Marcus Mathers (1st Round Wrestling Open Championship Tournament Match)

The young prodigy outworks Channing early and he has to take a little breather to get counsel from Bakabella. A big shoulder block blasts the kid over. Marcus staying in the game reversing and reversing. Channing is getting frustrated. Marcus with a flurry of whips and kicks, northern lights for two! Bakabella’s on the apron but Marcus is ready for the ambush. Channing gets sent flying over his manager to the floor boards. Marcus chases him down and fights through the crowd. Snap suplex back in the ring for two. They start trading chops but Channing throws him right into the buckle facefirst, the tide turns hard as Marcus is clearly staggered from that hit. Thomas unloading, big knee drop for two. Running dropkick for another close one but Marcus isn’t dead. Big vertical suplex for another close call. Bakabella yells to show the people as Channing loses sight of the mission at hand and chooses to preen. Marcus kicks his head off in a quick reverse of fortune. Corner charge! Backspring stunner! Hard knee to the face! Michanoku driver! Channing kicks out! Bakabella is upset. Channing almost gets the piledriver…Marcus out and throwing forearms. Back and forth! Marcus starting to land hard. Channing rolls out as the 15 min mark crosses. Marcus hits a tope to the floor! He tries to go to the stop but he’s still dazed from all the shots to the head. Channing runs up and belly to bellies him off the top….kick out! So close! What a war! Channing can’t Hit the piledriver as Marcus is just a sandbag as this point. “YOU STUPID KID” yells Channing. Mathers fires up and gets a deep crab on…Channing trying to escape….he can’t get away….ref Tyler is out of position and Bakabella blasts him in the face with a handful of powder! Channing hits the piledriver! Marcus gets the rope! Bakabella is ejected cause it’s VERY clear he did naughty things.
